Roy Hodgson leaves Liverpool. At this moment it is not clear whether he was sacked or he resigned. Either way I think it is the right move for Liverpool and Hodgson. Kenny Dalglish takes over the club in a caretaker role. What's your views on this? Cheers! Ram

ram_cv, I wonder if Liverpool's backroom is causing this spate of poor results. I mean look the players are top notch world class beaters and of late I just do not know how they can be so patient with the incompetent Benitez and be so fast and quick with Hodgson. I really have to shake my head and wonder if the boardroom is fouling things for the club. Now, come Dalgish who just does not have any credentials of late to actually manage the current club and it is just like hoping vainly for the better result. This is really pathetic but I hope the players will be able to gel with him and most of all his tactics. Just what are they thinking or not thinking here?

I think what some of the players in the Liverpool uniform need is a kick in the back side. Unfortunately Roy is not someone who can deliver that. He is too soft to do that. In that aspect I think Dalglish is a better option!! And he will definitely have the backing of the Anfield crowd!! Cheers! Ram

Do you think a manager like Sir Alex, Arsene Wenger, Mourinho would allow players to get away with it. I think a manager has to be big enough to know when and how to kick some players. Remember the boot to the face of Beckham, do you remember the sale of Adebayor... These are just some examples of how top notch managers don't get bullied. But you are right, they are a breed getting extinct and that speaks volumes that managers are not created by coaching manuals or coaching badges, but they are a breed that are born and the manuals and badges are just for honing the skills!! Cheers! Ram

Ram, I am sure you will agree with me that the kick will not really be of much use nowadays especially when players are known to hop on the next bandwagon when things don't work out. Also, we have seen how players would go on mutiny and under perform by loosing crucial games when they want their coach out. I just do not like how the clubs are being managed nowadays as they can just pay their way out from bad press. Anfield boardroom had better wake up and stop all that politicking. Now, I know some of you may want to crucify me for saying the latter but let me just ask how do you think the French World Cup Team mutiny came about? These spoiled brats must have thought they could get away with murder even at national level. I just felt that France did not do enough to punish the main culprit who had done a great disservice equivalent to treason to the country. I hope the game will not be spoiled by these unnecessary fracas.

Why is this a good move? Did Hodgson lose too many games or did he lose the attention of the players?

Yes, he lost too many games. More than that he simply did not seem to inspire the players to perform at the level they were supposed to perform at. I personally feel that he lost his dressing room!! Cheers! Ram

Kenny Dalglish is a Liverpool old timer with a fantastic track record with the reds. In fact, he wanted to be the manager when Roy was selected and it was a surprising decision for me that Liverpool did not take him!! Cheers! Ram

Yes, he is a good man. And a good manager for the second tier clubs like Fulham, but Liverpool is slightly above his range!! Cheers! Ram

Hi ram, As a Liverpool fan, this is the best news of the season. It is not that Roy is not a good coach but I do not think he is the best man for Liverpool especially when Liverpool in the crisis like now. Roy has proven his record before for other clubs around the world, but, he can not have much time like other clubs because Liverpool is not like other clubs who can still proud to be in the mid-table. Liverpool tradition is the contender for the Champion League place if the can not go for the top table. And with the record of nine losses in 20 games (the worst in many years), I do not think Roy has an option then resign or being sacked. Kenny Dalglish might not coach any team in the last decade but his experience and strong will would help Liverpool to go forward. More so, he is the last Liverpool manager that manage to lift the premier league trophy (1990). Good luck Liverpool. You'll never walk alone.

Absolutely agree with your response. Had Roy been managing Fulham and they had been in this position, no one would have really complained. In fact, people might be praising his work there!! But at Liverpool this is really not the level at which they are expected to play!! Cheers! Ram

You know my opinion, I don't like this sacking and signing new coaches during a season. I think nobody could do miracles at Liverpool now, because there is no time between the games. Now that a legend took over, the supporters feel better, but I am skeptical about what he can change in this season.

Yes, the supporters were really on the back of Hodgson. Now with Dalglish at least the supporters will have some one whom they trust and support at the helm. But I do agree with your general observation that managers should not be sacked en route. May be clubs can have manager sack windows like the transfer windows!! Cheers! Ram

He supposedly left by mutual consent, so in other words he either left or was fired. I am not sure wether it is the right move as Hodgson inherrited a poor bunch of players and it will be interesting to see wether or not Dalglish can inspire them to do better.

I agree with you that he had a poor bunch of players. But what was really killing Liverpool was the fact that he was unable to inspire the few champions that he has in his squad to move a level upper. Losing to Wolves at home for a club like Liverpool is definitely not on!! Cheers! Ram

I read that Hodgson has left on mutual consent and Dalglish will be the interim manager. It is coming after all the poor results. But I dont agree or understand why the club hire a manager only to sack him in six months time. They should be given more time. The timing is also weird especially when they will be facing Man Utd the next day. Whether the sacking will galvanising the team or will it hurt the team more, only time will tell.

I think it is clear that Roy cannot inspire the boys to perform. Kenny has a better record of inspiring the boys. And I think the change of guard was done with the concept that Kenny might just be able to lift the boys against Man U!! Cheers! Ram
