Hoe many of us made Christmas Dinner this year? I did, and surprisingly it turned out great. This was my first time ever making a turkey. I had called my mother and grandmother and asked them how it was done. I took both of there advice and worked on a plan for my bird. I had made full sized chickens before but never a turkey. I was a little bit worried as we had invited a few people over. So I took out some chicken breasts just in case I couldn't provided a cooked turkey! I was fairly worried at first but later in the day I became more confident. The turkey turned out great and there was no need to cook up the chicken. Everyone loved it! Did you make a turkey this year? Or did you go out for dinner instead? What was your first turkey cooking experience like? What do you serve with your dinner? Is there something special that you make? Do you use cookbooks for big dinners or old fashion family recipes?

I made a turkey for thanksgiving so for Christmas I made a brown sugar ham and it came out really good. I love to cook and I love to try new recipes so i have many untried recipes. I don't really make anything special each year, just the normal stuff that most people think of: mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, green bean casserole and bread. I also love sweet potatoes(not yams) so I make brown sugared sweet potatoes.(not yams)

Well since i do not own my own house and still live at home i did not make a turkey. My mom and dad every year get stuck with having thanksgiving dinner and i do help out as much as possible and she buys the turkey at a store and makes it all on her own. We go every year to my cousins house for christmas dinner and i believe everyone in the family makes the turkeys the same. They all use the same recipe that i believe is from generations ago, but its the same as anyone else would make it. I hope one day to own my own house to cook a holiday dinner and i actually cant wait and will be excited for it.
