During the winter do you get out less?

This winter has been especially cold and we've also experienced a lot more snow than is typical in our area. This means that I've been getting out of the house a lot less frequently than I typically do. I didn't leave the house but three times last week. The first time was to go to the doctor's office with my husband, then I went to the grocery store another day and on Saturday we went to a friend's house for a few hours. I wonder if you all find that you get out of the house less often during the winter than you do during the other seasons of the year? What exciting things did you do last week when you did get out of your house? Do you have anything exciting this week to look forward to?

Not really for me but then again I live in South Florida so our winters are mild to say the least. It has definitely been a much colder winter this year than normal but nothing compared to the poor people who live up North. I know this week that the weather has been horrible especially for those in the Boston, New York, and Cleveland areas of the country. They are having some horrific snow storms this week. Anyhow, I hope the weather improves for everyone soon. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Definitely no signs of the weather improving for a lot of the country at this point in time. People all around where our family live are getting absolutely pounded. However, thank goodness, we were able to dodge the bullet this time.

I fill up alot of my time playing sims3 and going online when i can. The wifi connection i now use isnt very good. Sometimes i cant connect at all. With the sims3 you just need computer no internet.

I've never played sims, so I really don't know anything about it. For me, I tend to spend my time writing some articles to make a little bit of extra money and also playing on facebook and keeping up with my friends.

I'm not really a fan of the cold weather either. However, it also tends to be the case that I am also a person that ends up getting a lot of cabin fever as well.

I do get out less during the winter months when it snows. Don't like to drive in it anymore and really there is no reason for me to be out. We are expecting a snow storm tomorrow night into Thursday so that means I will be housebound. Suppose to have lunch this week with a friend so that's always fun. Last week I visited one of the local casinos and had a great time. I was gone quite a bit last week since our weather was ok.

I enjoy going to one of the local casinos as often as possible. I generally go alone unless it's on the weekend and my husband goes with me. It's such a fun place to be and play. We are right in the middle of a major snow storm so I've been home for a couple of days. Can't wait to get out again and go play Keno.

I love to do the slot machines when I have the opportunity to visit. I will, however sometimes venture to the table games and I've won a fair amount of money playing blackjack when I play on the tables.

I have to admit that I am quite jealous of the fact that you had the opportunity to visit a casino. It has really been years since I've been to a casino and I really do enjoy visiting them. I need to find someone else around here that enjoys casinos so that I can go on a visit to one again soon.

I love to go out in winters. But let me add, that I am living in a tropical country, and the only snow I have seen is the snow that they show in the movies. The fact is I love going out in the cold winter night and have an ice cream with my lovely wife. We always do it, when we go to a hill station for a vacation.

Well, I would like to see some snow fall at least once in my life time. I do not think I will ever see snow fall before I die.

You really should make it an effort to travel somewhere where there is snow at least once. It really is magical, especially if it is something that you've never experienced in your life.

Yes, the fact that you live in a tropical country really does make a lot of difference. You would probably enjoy getting to experience snow once or twice in your life, but after that you would probably be done with it.

I do some independent contracting which requires me to be on the road quite a bit. I am glued to the weather reportings daily as if it is going to be way too bad I am not able to get out. There have been some days that I had no business being out, however the assignments are very important so I have to bare the chance and make sure the income can flow. As for this week I have not had any so although I am not happy, I am sure glad I am not outdoors.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of independent contracting do you do? I've thought about getting some independent work going with helping out with the elderly, but I've not been able to come up with a feasible childcare option for my son so I'm held back at this point.

I'm about at the point that I'm willing to try anything that I have the ability to do so that our family will be able to have a little bit of extra money. I'm not greedy, I would just like to be comfortable.

Currently I am internet networking businesses and maintaining them. I have also done web-designing and trouble shooting. I do not do a whole lot but I managed to get at least a couple a week. I have also done customer rating with secret shopping also. Basically anywhere I can get some income from.

I try to get out as much as possible as I have two young children (a son almost 2 years old and a daughter 8 months old) and it is hard being stuck in the house all day, but it has been very icy so I am too scared to drive in case I get into an accident. The weather was much better on Sunday so I met my parents and had lunch at Tony Romas. It was great. I fell in the ice 2 years ago when I was pregnant with my son so I have had a bit of a fear of it ever since. I love the snow as it looks so pretty but now that Christmas is over I am looking forward to long walks with the pram and my dog in the summer, although I live in Scotland so it will probably rain the whole summer!!!

Having two children myself, I know what you mean about trying to get out of the house as often as possible. My children are 8 years old and 4 years old. One thing that has held us back some this winter is the fact that it has been so cold and my husband has been driving my car to work because my car has a much better heater in it than his does.
2 Feb 11
I turn the car on while getting ready to go out o that it eats up but one of these days someone is going to notice this and steal it so I need to be really careful and watch out the window all the time so it takes me even longer to get ready to go out, but I hate the cold so much and would not drive a cold car!

That is one of the worst things that I could ever imagine having happen. About 12 years ago my mother left the keys in her truck while she ran into the gas station to get a soda and the truck was stolen from the front of the gas station, so you can say that I am traumatized by that thought.

Well... We are also having winter time now at our place and I have found your question very related to me like you are asking me only ...he he. Yeah I really felt myself so lazy in this winter. Cause is, I have come to cold place after a long time, I can say around 6-8 years. I have visited some places in these years for very short time. I haven't done many things in this winter which I should have doing all these days like writing and teaching at regular basis. But I didn't do much. I just read books, played guitar, attended office and talked over phone... But I have plan to recover from my habit as summer is coming ... Thanks...

This year has honestly been the worst for me in a long time. I think that it is the combination of the fact that we've had a lot more icy percipitation than we are used to and also due to the fact that our family has been sick off and on this winter as well.

I do go out less during the winter. I do not like cold weather so I try to stay in as much as I can just so I don't have to go out and be cold. I tend to cook a whole lot more too but I try to cook healthy things. I didn't go out much this week cause we got snow and then ice on top of it. I did go out yesterday because I had to clean 2 houses and then I came back home when I was finished. We still have snow and ice on the ground but the roads are a lot better and the driveways are a lot better now.

I too find that I cook more during the winter than I do during other parts of the year. I think that a big part of the reason for that is because of the fact that cooking during the winter makes the house seem more cozy.

It's summer here now and last week, you got out more than i did. . LOL In winter, i think it's normal to stay indoors more, especially if the weather is downright miserable. In the summer time here, it's more prudent to also stay indoors because the sun is very hot and can cause a lot of damage to skin, eyes and so on. The heat too can be quite devastating .

You are right that there are a lot of reasons that it is good to also stay inside during the summer. However, for our family, I find that we go outside a lot during the summer because of the fact that my children love the swimming pool so very much. We visit the pool every day during the summer.

Hi. dorannmwin. It is very true. I stay in the house mostly when it is very cold and when there is snow on the ground. I also stay home because my kids or I may be ill. I never travel when I have just washed my hair. I always stay home. When it is very cold, I don't go out as much. It has to be important or an doctor's appointment before I just leave out.

I tend to leave the house a little bit more often than that because of the fact that I do get a lot of cabin fever. However during the spring and summer there is rarely a day that I don't leave the house, but during the winter I stay home more than I leave the house.

Actually, since I live in South Texas, winter is when I get out the most. It is too hot for me here in the summer. I really hate going out in the heat. Winter it is usually around 60 degrees or higher. It is the perfect time to go outside and do things. I love going to parks and hiking. Winter is my favorite time of year now.

I've never lived in the south Texas area and it is also a place that I've never had the opportunity to visit. However, I've been to Arizona and based on that fact, I can see why you say that you tend to get outside more during the winter than during the other seasons throughout the year.

I do stay in a lot more. We used to take walks nearly everyday, with this cold, we do not even bother. Sometimes, I do not go anywhere for a couple of weeks at a time, which drives me crazy, but with a small child, an overworked hubby and one working car, it is what it is. The cold just is not too much of an inticemement to go outside. The heat was not either, but at least by the end of the day, it was nearly nice.

I think that if I had to stay in the house without getting out anywhere for more than a week, I would go absolutely insane. I still do make it an effort, even during the winter to go and visit my mother and my in-laws at least once every other week. Of course this hasn't entirely happened this winter because there has been a lot of sickness running around.

I always go out less in the winter. I hate getting in cold cars...having cold hands etc and etc. I don't go unless I absolutely have to. We were undecided about new Year's Eve. My husband had to work till 4 pm. We had gift cards from a nice restaurant...he wanted to know if I wanted to go out to eat there....I decided no cause it's winter...so I started to make supper at home. I passed up a chance to eat out. lol This week, I had to take me son to Air Cadet band practice Monday night, Air cadet training night on Wednesday night, went with my sister and niece for an allergy test today. That is it. I hate going out in the winter.

You did a lot more thatn I could do because of the fact that you don't like getting out in the winter. I can absolutely never pass up the opportunity to go out to eat simply because I like to have a break from cooking here and there.

I get out alot less. Having a son in a wheelchair, it makes it hard. Along with the fact that we don't have any extra money to do anything with, I just stay at home most of the time.

I imagine that the wheelchair really does make things a lot worse during the winter time when it comes to getting out of the house. I know that even for me when I had little ones in a stroller it was a lot more difficult and like I said, they were little.

I dont get out of the house during the day much at all anyways. I dont really like to drive much and it just seems like such a hassle to get out and about. I do go out in the evening for a date with my husband often. When he is driving I and I want to go with him then go no matter what time it is.

Driving has never been something that bothers me. However, knowing that my oldest is at school, I really don't want to be too far away from the house instead something should happen to her, I want to be able to get to her quickly if she needs me.

yes...this happens with me also...i try to avoid as much i can...and if i have choice of time....i prefer going in the afternoon time..so that i can skip those cold winds...here too in India there is too much colder as compared to earlier years...so the schools have also given a vacation for about 10 days more..its a relief for the kids who had to wake up in chilling mornings and attend the schools...

The kids here don't get out of school just because of the fact that it is cold outside. However, we've had a lot of snowdays from school because of the snow and ice that we have been through this year. I think that this week might be the first full week that my daughter will go since it became 2011.

Hi friends, I absolutely despise winter. I hibernate like a bear. This is not really possible however as I have a best friend who has Cancer and I have to go to her pretty well every day. If it weren't for her, I guess I would be a real hermit. I have a bad back and I find that the cold just stiffens me up so bad. It takes a few hours when I get back in the heat for it to settle down. Oh well, now that Christmas is over, all I look forward to is spring. Bring it on.... Cheryl

That is so nice that you go and visit your sick friend almost everyday. I'm sure that does a world of good for her. And, looking forward to spring, you are definitely right about that. I honestly can't wait for spring to come this year since it has been such a long, cold winter.

I honestly can't say that I can say which is worse for me. Snow is bad, but at least you can manage to have fun playing in the snow. Rain on the other hand doesn't typically happen when it is quite as cold, but then again there is really nothing that you are able to do outside when it is raining.

This is going to be something that makes me sound crazy, but I honestly don't mind driving in the snow. It wouldn't be bad at all if I was on the roads all by myself. However, the other people around here don't know how to drive in the rain.
