I am overweight and want to lose weight very badly. I have tried lot of ways to achieve that but never managed to lose more than 3-4 kilograms. I am way too lazy to hit the gym. Of late I've been attracted to the offers from various companies and products which promise sure weight loss. Something like 20 kilograms in 2 months and all. I am a little skeptical about these but it sounds too good to be true. I have discussed this with my fitter friends, but they are against me taking up any such program or product. What do you think? Are they good or bad? If anyone have ever taken these up , please share your experience too.

Like you, I have tried a lot of weight loss products with little to no success. But I was able to lose thirty pound this year doing nothing. I just avoided stress and got enough sleep and I lost weight. But I have never lost weight using any kind of weight loss products.

Losing weight by getting enough sleep and avoiding stress. That surely sounds a fun way of losing weight. I can surely try that. Congrats on losing 30 pounds. I hope I'd be able to emulate you.

Only thing I ever took was those colon cleansers, and some other weight loss pills. My husband actually lost weight, while I didn't loose a dime. I have been the same weight for years. I won't step foot in a gym, to many people and germs. Only way I got to actually start loosing weight was walking with my dog. We walk for about 20 minutes a day, 10 in the morning and 10 in the evening. I also cut out eating junk food, like chips, and sweets. I do miss chips but it's worth being able to put a pair of jeans on and not feel like a stuffed pig. Walking with my dog can be a pain some times, because the weather is so cold. So I just bundle up and go. When it's warmer out, we will walk a bit longer. It actually got to the point, that she wouldn't lay down and go to bed until we went and got her walk in. If it wasn't for her, I would never lost any weight, or felt like doing much of anything.

Oh so having a walk daily really helped you. Great to know such a success story. I also have been stuck at the same weight for the past three years. Though I feel now I should make a conscious effort to lose some. I too feel like a stuffed pig sometimes in my favorite pair of jeans.

Good day kingatul, There is only one way to loose weight. That is to burn more calories than you take in. So taking any products to loose weight isn't going to work unless you burn more calories than you take in. Simple.... I used to be overweight too. I was in a bad relationship and I just didn't care what I looked like. I was really depressed so I ate and I layed around. I got to 200 pounds and I didn't care. Then my relationship fell apart for good and I moved to another city, I started working again and I watched what I ate. I cut out carbs and sugars. I quit eating bread and potatoes and rice and quit drinking soda pop. I lost 50 pounds in 3 months. And it was easy. Over the years I have gained weight and lost weight many times. I tried all kinds of different products and diets but nothing really works except watching what you eat and burning calories. I hope this time I keep it off. I just have to remember to burn more calories than I take in. Cheers and happy mylotting my friend , chris

I don´t believe in anything that is not natural. The only way to lose weight is to eat less than the amount of energy you use during the day. But even then, if you only lose weight, you might not lose it where you want it if you don´t do some exercise. So it is some exercise and a reasonable diet. Check the mediterranean diet.

I won't dare myself to try such program or products. Do it in a natural way. You might find it amazing with all your efforts and hard work, you eventually make your body fit, and your every muscle firm in place. Don't try those products, and programs, they are simply bogus.

I feel very lax when it comes to gymming and doing physical activity for the sake of it. I can play any sport if I'm enjoying it but the thought of doing it to lose weight doesn't motivate me at all. But anyways I'm not too keen on using these products after reading so much about the after effects.

Weight loss programs are a multi billion dollar industry around the world. They are all about profit. The worst are those that make promises. Over weight is primarily caused by not acheiving energy balance. Energy Balance is acheived when one consumes only the proper amount of energy for the body's daily functions. Anything else will be turned to fat. Its a matter of changing behavior and not diet plans. Research the amount of energy that your body needs daily based on your age, height etc. Then attempt to change your eating habits to achieve energy balance. In the case of someone that is over weight, consumption needs to be a little less than expenditure so that the body can take small amounts of adipose tissue and change it back into the body's energy. You will see that as you change your eating habits, your metabolism will begin to change and you will begin to do those things you feel lazy about doing now.

Nice analysis ptower76. I always thought that mending my eating habits will not actually result in my losing the weight I have already gained. The way you put it I understand that the body will use my already accumulated fat into the body energy. Thanks for the information.

Hello kingatul. Yes i bet 95% of all those products are scams of course and you will never get so thin so fast unless you starve yourself. I for one, am like you at the moment, overwheight and want to loose 20 kg, but i know it will not happen immediately. I have lost 20 kg 2 years ago, in a period of about less then 1 year. My secret ? Well i haven't cut back on the food, not to the extent where i don't eat regular food. With 2 exceptions - NO bread (or 1-2 slices at most) and NO chocolate (or other sweets) - these are basics if you want to loose weight, while eating normally. I did not visit any gym so no other expenditures. I will do it again, from now until july i have about 7 months in which i want to loose about 2 kg per month, or rather sad at least 10.

Those diet pills and programs that promise weight loss without any change in your behavior don't work. There is no "magic" pill to help you lose weight. I wish there were, but it all seems to boil down to using more calories than you take in. If you don't want to exercise there are other things you can do, besides hitting the gym. You could make household chores into an exercise, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. Keeping a journal of what you eat helps also. Just don't waste your money on "miracle" pills. Good Luck!!!

I don't have any weight problem as far as losing weight is concerned. It's the other way around for me, I want to gain weight since I'm on lower part of weight spectrum bordering on being underweight. But I have a colleague who manage to lose weight over a period of six months, she did diet and hit the gym but sadly she didn't sustain and maintain it and she bloated back almost to the same size as she was before when she stopped.

Some people are disciplined enough to go to the gym, but I'm not usually one of them. I find it helps to look for a sport or activity you actually enjoy, so that way you'll stick to it. If you have the time, try exploring new healthy dishes. Don't look at it as restricting yourself--look at it as expanding the things you like to eat! Just look up dishes that are tasty and healthy. Try Indian or Asian cuisine -- they usually use herbs and spices for flavour instead of oils and salts like North Americans and Europeans tend to use.

First things first, go to the doctor and have a physical done. You may have a thyroid problem, or one of many other glandular problems that make it hard to lose weight. I'd advise against pills, there's always a chance of heart complications or liver, kidney, what have you failure.

I wouldn't use any of those diet pill or powders. In stead go to our Dr OZ. He is on TV here in the United States. He is a real heart surgeon. He is doing his best to get America back to good health and weight. Here is his web sits. http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/healthcorps http://www.healthcorps.org/ They should help you as well as people here. And his plans are easy to follow.

For permanent weight loss you need to lose old habits and find new ones to replace them. Prescription diet pills are helpful, but have some bad side effects at times. Over the counter pills generally do not work. The diet plans that come with them do work, though. Any time you reduce portions and calories, even without too much exercise, you will reduce your weight. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I know, I have tried some of them. I need to lose some weight.

I don't buy most of them. Some of them are totally crazy like - no exercise, no dietary changes etc... it cannot be natural at all. It may work some but if it works at all it would be temporary at best.

If you want to lose weight, it all about disciplines. Product like slimming pills, gels, slimming spa or even surgery didn't work if there is no discipline either. To lose weight first of all you have to watch what you eat. Why we overweight? Because we ate unhealty food. Cut off all the unhealthy food. No junk food, fast food, process food, oily food, high fat food and try to eat food in smaller portion. Reduce oil when cook and try to avoid eating outside especially the fast food outlet. If you too lazy to go to the gym, at least do a lot of house chores. it would burn calories.
