I have never had a child prodigy although my two of my grandsons are extremely smart. One of the grandson never studies and never forgets anything he hears. He aces everything in school. The older grandson gets into regular debates with my husband on very technical things way over my head. I really think those two could skip a grade and would do fine.

These extraordinary feats (compared to normal child) should be encouraged and harnessed properly to make them great. All they need is a word of encouragement, some facility to develop the skills further. Thanks for the response.

About my son it is not great. There is a child of 4 years in Mangalore. He can tell the number of countries in the world and show the position on the globe. He can tell the details of each country's flag and their currencies. Similarly there is another child a muslim boy who can do mathematics of higher secondary level. These are not freak children, but they have extra ordinary memory power (photomirror in mind). They grasp it quickly and remember it for long time compared to ordinary children. Articles on such children appeared in Taranga - a Kannada weekly.

In one of our weekly Kannada Language magazine, a series of photographs of children are given with their extraordinary achievements - great feats - this they call child prodigy. One boy from Karnataka at the age of 10 produced a movie on STREET CHILDREN. I thought his father, or father's friend must have helped him produce the movie. But not. A detailed TV report said, the production, script, direction - all aspects of movie was handled single handedly by this boy. He is from Bangalore. Likewise, I wanted to know my lotians whether they are aware of any such child prodigy.
