Hi mylotters, I am a new mother..a first time mother... I keep wondering why everybody race to be the advisor number one when they see that I am a new mother...I am now looking after my three month old baby abd have already fired two helps...Apparently they were putting me in tension over things I had no clue about. Only after getting frightened to an extend did I start relying on my doctor and google for exact information... One lady after seeing dark green colour potty of my little one said that my baby was suffering from diarhea...i rushed to her pediatritian only to find it very normal...It was just the beginning...It made me tensed..almost made me think why I ever wanted a baby... Why do you think people talk nonsense when they do not know ABCD of what they are talking??? Why make ignorance speak for you to make others do blunders?

Its interesting but we are not born with experience raising children and so many experienced individuals want to help. Many of us made mistakes because of our inexperiences and may not want you to make the same mistakes. Be patient with us older folks. Take the advice we give that helps and ignore what you don't think is valid. And congradulations for deciding to experience the ultimate pleasure of life.

With due respect to elders, I do listen to what they say but to be frank most of the advices I get are baseless. for instance, what impact does a massage have on a child's shape of nose? It is genetically designed to have the shape and size it has right? What if my child is born with a blunt nose and an elder person ask me to pull out the nose with oil three to four times a day???

When an elderly person gives advice. As i said above, take the advice you think is good. Don't take the advice that you think is baseless. That thing with the nose is really quite baseless and honestly, its the first time I ever heard of that. Remember, everyone grows old and it will be your turn once you have lived your life to try to share your own experiences with the youth of the world.

You know what, you are the baby's mother, you know what she wants. Yes, a lot of people likes to give advices but you don't need to follow what they say, you take what you think is necessary, if not, just listen and then put it behind. I'm a new mom too and I'm used to hearing people say YOU SHOULD... YOU SHOULD... I usually just listen and I don't follow if I think that's not right. But I believe nobody knows better than me because I am my baby's mother, right? Enjoy the parenthood, it is really amazing how quick they grow!!

Since you are a new mother people are of the opinion that you are a novice in the subject and they are helping you out. You need not be tensed for anything and everything with the baby. If you have an old person in the house they can be of immense help with their grandma's remedies which are effective and have no side effects and are equally safe. Doctor's are helpful but all problems need not be treated with medicines. I am sorry i am also advising. Take care and enjoy every moment with your baby as they never come back again. Happy mylotting.

I was of the belief that I could rush to doctor for anything and everything..On one such visit he made me sit and listen that he doesnt have any medicine to stop baby from crying..they are tiny and for small irritation, they cry..for all such silly things if you come to me, I will have to cconsider you too as a patient..It was a speech I gave thought too..but again my baby's pediatritian is so kind that he gives me more time..and permission to call up any time for the silliest of doubts..Ofcourse I did not take it for granted.. I am seeing things from a mature angle now..when a child is born a mother is born too..

It really depends on whose the source of the information. It's still best to seek proper advise only from people who has expertise on the field such as your pediatrician. Any advice from anybody else should be verified and be taken with a grain of salt.

Initially I was like a sponge waiting to grab some water...later i realised these misleading advises and started double checking it..first on net and then by an expert..

I have three grown children. There's a lot of unsolicited advice out there. Take it with a grain of salt and move on! In other words be patient with those that are merely trying to help. Good luck and God bless!

Patience is a virtue!! I feel bad after snapping at people who say rubbish...one lady even asked me to insert beetle nut leaf to help stop constipation for the baby...I was totally down those days..now I am back on track.. Thank you..Take care

I guess it is better to trust instincts. Somehow, when you are a new mother, yo tend to do things on your own but it is also nice to do some research online as there are many people that can help you here.

I too ask my friend who are mothers already..and they give suggestions which make sense...which have a scientific baking.. I mean why speak on something when you do not know clearly about it...if there is stomach pain, there are worms in stomach..actually it was colic!! imagine my plight...

who knows. it's better to hear some advice than keeping their mouth's shut despite of seeing you ballistic. they may give a false information, at least you're being warded with a precautionary measure!
