Open Letter to MyLot - Help Me Find Deleted Posts To Avoid Duplicate Postings

One of the Issues I have - NOT A COMPLAINT BUT A REQUEST - My Post Got Deleted Because MyLot Thinks it is Duplicate Content/Post - I Have No Issues or Thoughts Against This. I Respect the Rules. Now, I had done a search using the Search Bar Above. And I DID NOT find any post/discussion similar to mine. So I DID post it. Then It got deleted because of the above reason. Question: How does a person who joined after this gets aware of the fact that this content was posted and deleted. S/He May Post it again - assuming s/he is the First to think about it.... and the next time s/he would find it deleted.... Is It Good Brand Building? I think We should have a place where we could find all the posts that were deleted or something that could help us while posting new discussions.... I have found Senior MyLotters take pains to get the already misled and misguided Newbies have an idea of what MyLot is all about. Trust me there are many around who have been lured into MyLot from other sites and what they have heard from outside is quite confusing... And here such deletions further the confusions. Note To Admin: Please think about it. Regards, theSids.

Friend, when that has happened to me, it has not been a post that duplicates some one else, but rather it has been when my browser has hung and the post has posted twice. MyLot, when they see it, takes one of the two down. I have even requested that they do this, if I notice it before they do. Check and see if one copy of your post is there. If indeed it is as you assume, this is not where you are to address the problem, but rather through the "contact us" link.

Hi GG, Yes, I agree this is not the right place but I was trying to find out the chances of acceptibilty of my opinion... I know that they have tons of work at the back end and I would not want to bother the admin by posting an un-achievable thing. So Started the discussion to ascertain if this is needed and if it can be beneficial. Oh yes, the scripts at Mylot are bugged and do not handle Form-Re-Submissions (the ones where we start or post responses) perfectly leading to chances of re-post.

Well sids. This is a great idea and administration should give a look. I feel sometimes that some special users (not the moderators) are more powerful than administration here. Once i found some negative tags on an user's discussion which the tagger put intentionally. Later i started a discussion in this issue and result the dis got deleted. You must have all the honor to them and bound to accept what they have done. Otherwise you will be punished.(thanks to admn that they deleted those tags) What should we be treated this way? Why some users are special and they accelerate it according their wish? It's an enigma to me. To admn.:- Please take a role here regarding sids request and hope we will be treated with equality.

The admin is great here at mylot and I have no issues with that. I believe the scripts are not doing their job correct and the admin is quite unaware of this. Now I think this one would get deleted too.

i agree with u sid..there should be some way to find out that what has been posted and what not...there is search option i know ..but that is not fully dependable..sometimes u may not find or u may not be able to go through all the pages...but yes...it hurts if our discussion gets deleted...

Thesids- I have seen this occur to other users and it is just as Gerty mentioned. The browser/Mylot posted twice so rather then take down just one Administration clears them both. My thought would be to post the topic again and see if the post remains up. You may want to try using different types of clues to search a topic because I've noticed that while my own title would not pull something up, the general tag lines would pull it up. Yes, it is time consuming but worth the little extra. I do like the idea though. Perhaps you will add yet another positive feature to Mylot, my friend. Namaste-Anora

Namaste Anora, They have a bug in their script and it comes up at times - the duplicate response or even post due to browser failure or any other thing. Unfortunately nothing of that sort had happened yesterday and it was just once version of the post. I learn a new way you mention here - You may want to try using different types of clues to search a topic ... the general tag lines would pull it up

If the deletion notice you received specifically stated "Duplicate Content/Post", then it was removed because the post was literally a duplicate of a post you had made yourself. This usually is the result of a network error or glitch and the discussion or response will be posted multiple times. I do occasionally make mistakes and delete the wrong post. When this happens, i am more than glad to correct the error. I did some checking and it seems I did in fact delete you post by mistake so I have restored it. My apologies.

Hello my friend! I received an email saying you started a discussion but I was still answering some discussions so I said I will just go back to my friend's discussion after this, when I was about to go to your discussion,it was already deleted! I already read your discussion and that made me wonder why it was deleted. I usually use the search bar before posting a discussion,I'm sure you did it too. But you know,it's really hard sometimes whether it is going to be deleted or not. Just don't feel bad about it Sids! You are not the only one whose experiencing this kind of confusions. See you around friend! Take care!

Hello Sid, I remember the question earlier but I haven’t posted my reply there. (I think that post is too old now). When I seen the question again I posted my reply to you. I am sorry for the deletion of the topic. True, the search bar is not working properly. I think the topics come under ‘mylot’ probably to get axed in case of repetitions. Just forget about it and cheer up
