Global warming and mankind.

Everybody is now well familiar with the term ‘Global Warming’. Global warming is defined as the observed temperature increase over the last 50 years. It is due to the increase in the concentrations of greenhouse gases like water vapour, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and ozone in the atmosphere. The beneficial effect of greenhouse gases is that they keep the earth warm enough to support life. During day when sunlight reaches earth's surface some is absorbed and warms the earth and most of the rest is radiated back to the atmosphere at a longer wavelength than the sun light. Some of these longer wavelengths are absorbed by greenhouse gases in the atmosphere before they are lost to space. The absorption of this long wave radiant energy warms the atmosphere & during night helps to maintain a temperature conducive for life. But a great increase in the amount of greenhouse gases traps excessive amount of heat which would otherwise be lost to outer space & this in turn is causing an alarming increase in the temperature of the earth. The largest contributing source of greenhouse gases is the burning of fossil fuels leading to the emission of carbon dioxide. Using electricity from coal-fired power plants, or heating of homes in winter with oil or natural gas causes the release of a huge amount of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere. Deforestation is another significant source of greenhouse gases, because fewer trees mean less carbon dioxide conversion to oxygen. The consequences of global warming are grave. This increase in trapped heat changes the climate and alters weather patterns, which may hasten species extinct, influence the length of seasons, cause coastal flooding, and lead to more frequent and severe storms. Global warming is thus playing havoc and if not controlled immediately will make life impossible on this planet. So preventive measures should be taken without any delay. What are the steps you would suggest to combat global warming?

Hi Doc. No such thing as global warming God said there would always be heat and there will always be cold. God won't let us humans destroy HIS planet. This is Gods favoriet planet it says that in the bible. Sorry but I think this is just another way of man getting money. Draining every cent they can get out of anyone and everyone.

I do not know what God wants and whether the earth is God's favourite planet or not. I only know that the situation arising from global warming is no doubt an alarming one and man has to find out the solution himself, God will never come to save him from this danger.

We are not having global warming it is always hot and cold. We all need to think about going green but that is cause most of us humans are wasteful and don't take care of this earth. But it says in Genies the first book of the bible that there will always be hot and cold God said that. The only danger we are in now is the danger of the anti christ coming claiming to be the true christ. God will not let man destroy HIS earth. Read Genies and it will tell you how the earth is Gods favorite place especially Israel. God married Israel and then divorced Israel for worshiping idols . Oh well be fooled by mans traditions.

extremely true, there are multiple ways in which global warming occurs. Broadly classifying it is caused by two activities: 1. Natural activities. there are a few geothermal reasons including volcanic eruptions, acid or hot water springs, forest or wildlife fire, etc. 2. Human activities. activities which are accomplished by man. activities which are done for many. activities which are done by man. Activities for which man is responsible. Global warming is a serious condition that affects our planet Earth One must thing about the consequences of human activities which are necessitating impending Global Warming. and it is as real as global warming and as imminent as After the most imminent danger of water crisis, Global Warming is an upcoming threat to mankind. People don't think much about... new hybrid fuel cars which run on alternative fuel like electricity, solar, (I saw one site which has all possible, hundred percent proof, iron-copper-gold-silver caste guarantees, and what not) seems going to be an effective process that has started to begin. People are getting aware and are buying those hybrid cars... this can be propagated by all, as carbon dioxide is the one of the most highlighted gas causing global warming, and now it will not be expelled or expired out from a fuel engine. In the next hundreds of years, number of fuel car will decrease; however, the number of alternative fuel cars will increase. and in a few more next hundreds of years after, that number should increase. Global warming is considered an issue. In fact it's an issue. All the politicians are involved in it with a good amount of peoples' moneys. Everywhere global warming is given a good consideration. Media is supporting in many campaign for Global Warming. But I am also concerned about impending water crisis. Our planet is getting depleted of water every hour, every minute, every moment...

last comment was distorted at the time of upload. Sorry for break of ideas? Please find missed description about the site which is described in brackets in previous comment. It was very amazing site with imaginary, unbelievable promise. Per that site, people can drive their car or cars by simple tap water. fill the tank of your car from any faucet and drive.. I don't believe but that site exists. they sold the mechanism or technique for some dollars. I considered it a business how can that be possible?

I really think that one of the most important things that we can do in order to reduce the effects of global warming during our lives is that we need to take every step that we can in order to reduce our carbon footprint. In saying this, I think that we need to reduce the amount of electricity that we are using first and foremost. However, I also think that we should cut down on unnecessary driving and also use more recycled objects.

Global warming is now the global issue as it affects all of us regradless of who and what we are. But contributing to the effects has issues of who and what we are. In third world countries we are looking at thye industrialized countries as main contributors to the devastating effect of the global warming. Some of the atolls in my country is already sinking, the weath pattern is also changing and may animal species as well as crop are condused and are struggling to adopt to changes and are constantly migrating to new place so we have many problems. The mst current issue to control this is saving of forests and carbon trading is now talked about in my country. While this is going on, we are talking of going paperless by using electronic methods of doing business and using solar energy etc. But is a very big issue. Thanks for bring it up. For us individuals of mylot, we can just act locally for the global problem. Cut the use of paper.

I'm fully for using green energy. I mean look at some of the countries by sea, they have water energy and wind. Inland countries have wind and sun they can trap. Everywhere you look you can see the means to produce energy that may take more time but aren't as destructive to our planet. The thinking nowadays is of comfort here and now. But what of the world tomorrow and our children in the future? I have one memory I'd like to share. I was driving with my father away from city and we passed a half-built house surrounded by tree stumps for kilometers in both directions. When I asked my father about it he said the house was built by man who took a loan from the bank. Since he couldn't pay the loan with added intrest the bank took the loan as trees from the man's property. It always saddens me to think of that because it was pure and simple destruction with no regard to the nature and what changes it may bring in the future to that area. So I support green energy production whole-heartedly, but unfortunately the government does not. I only hope the pressure from the public will be so great one day they have no other choice but to do as majority demands.

The main culprit behind global warming is use of fossil fuels. So alternate arrangements of mass transport and restriction in use of personal vehicles are the two preliminary requirements to control global warming, as far as I know.

I have visited Bohol Philippines twice and has been always amazed at the 'man-made forest'. The local guide told us that the project has started for like 50 years ago and students up until now are continuing planting tress. Before graduation, a student has to plant 10 siblings. No wonder that place was so worth-watching to passers by. It was amazing. What was amazing is its effect to the place. They never got floods as the local guide narrated and its a real one step towards combating the global warming. So in our school, compound or backyards, why not plant more trees say 10 siblings per member of the family/student/or employee? And we have to act now!

Hi DoctorDidi, It is governments and big business that can do the most but we can all do our part. There are nearly seven billion people in the world and if we all even recycled one plastic bottle every day, it would be helping. There are some 800,000,000 cars and trucks in the world. Imagine if everyone who could do so started car pooling to work so that there were only about one quarter as many cars on the streets and roads at rush hour. Some people take their car to travel short distances, why not walk or use a peddle bike? If the big oil companies didn't have as much money and influence, We would have had an electric car that was affordable a long time ago. The big oil refineries could probably cut back a lot more on emissions, but it would cost them more money, and this is where governments come into the picture. The biggest problem is greed whether people want more money or more power. Blessings.

I think alot of what the government and different companies are doing is helping. But at this point the amount of good we are doing isn't helping because things have gotten so far out of hand. There are alot of information on the conspiracy theory side of things that tell me we may never see much prevention because each time something is devised that should help some big company comes up with a way to ignore the law and hurt the global warning. Legistlation needs to be done that does not let company get away with letting emissions out without stiff penalities. They shouldn't be getting away with this.

Well, Doc, in his own way free_man said it best. God created the earth as well as all of us. He is the supreme, all powerful Creator. And He knows all. There is absolutely nothing that happens without his say-so. Like free_man said, God will not let us destroy the earth because as it says in the Bible God will one day destroy the earth Himself and create a new one. There isn't a thing you or I or any of us can do to stop that. If God wants to use global warming to destroy the earth then that's the way it will be. If you believe that it is entirely up to man to save the earth from global warming then you are fooling yourself. Man has no say in it. The only thing man can do is turn to God in total surrender and leave global warming in His hands. Global warming is nothing more than a world-wide scam perpetrated by the world's leaders to take more of the people's money and to exert more control over them. And you can bank on that.

Global Warming, I think a lot of it is overstated. However, it is being a lot less overstated by each passing year I think. There are more dam age and if you chart some of the more erratic weather patterns, it can give a lot of credence to some of the global warming theories and fears that are out there. I think that it is only just because, which is a bit horrifying. Still I think that the most important thing we can do is limit our driving. It is very easy to get into a car and go driving anywhere, but there are some people who drive distances that can just easily walk. Multiply that by a hundred and a thousand times and that could equal a great deal of any damage. So yeah, if you are able to walk then do so. It will not only help the environment but it will also save you money, something that everyone I think can get behind.

Global warming - Global warming can be minimize
Global warming can be reduce to a great extent, if we get rid of the causes which are mostly human made. The blame of preventing global warming rests both on individual as well as the state. In individual level we can change our practices such as reduce the usage of fossil based fuel, reduce the electricity consumption by means of energy efficient appliances.

i actually find it alarming, but not all people are alarmed. some are still making it worse. that is a sad reality. i hope campaigns will continue to help people be oriented to this alarming news.
