What are your views about ladies getting nails done by professionals? Do you ladies go get your nails done by professionals? Do you get fake nails or get your real nails painted? I honestly paint my own nails because it is cheaper and I can do it myself. I only got fake nails done ONCE by a professional and it cost $40 {which is so expensive but I did it because it was for my sisters wedding}.. Do men like ladies wearing fakes nails, real nails? In my point of view, I think fake nails can be a hassle, expensive over time and painting your nails yourself would save money and still look nice too. What do you think? If you do get your nails done how much does it cost & why do you do it? Some get their nails done to "look good", some do it because they like it... Views?

Hi infatualtedbby, Everyone wants to look good and everyone had right to look good. SO i donot condone if a girl goes to a professional for nails. If she can go for facial or eyebrows why not nails and at least those who can afford it should get it done because if you look good your self confidence also increase and you make good impression on others. SO i see no harm if some girls get them done.

I'm not saying it's bad just expensive when you can do it yourself.

I always painted my own nails since I was younger. I had it done once recently because my mom treated all of us to a mani-pedi treatment thing. It was okay. I looked at it later thinking, 'I could have done a better job' I might not be able to do all the fancy things, but I liked what I did. I started off painting all type of things on my nails (they were long) before it was a really an 'in' thing. I also had a little manicure set which my mom bought me long ago and I still use that to buff and shine my nails. I don't see any sense in paying THAT much just to have it come off later. I think paying to massage my hands are fine though, but painting it is a little much.

I paint my own nails too. Yeah, when I got mine done for like $40, it wasn't even that great! I could have done it myself, I agree. :) Thank you both for sharing.

Hi, friend, i have never done my nails by professionals, to say nothing of use fake nails. Just as i am not into makeup, i don't paint my nails often too. I think just make them clean and in good shape is ok. Actually, i don't think those who take fake nails are beautiful.

Thanks for sharing. I don't either, I had fake nails once but for a wedding. I paint my nails, clean them, everything by myself.

To each her own I suppose :). I also go to a salon at least once a month for pedicure (I'm not so much of a manicure fan). From where I come from, the basic pedicure with nail paint ranges from $1.5 to around $5 depending on the salon. It's more expensive when you get additional services like foot spa + pedicure, etc. But months ago, I got addicted to nail polishes so I just bought the colors that I like and practiced until I was able to do a decent job. I opted for this since it will already be costly if I still go to the salon for nail polish change. However, for special occasions, which happens rarely, I just go to the salon. I haven't tried fake nails yet though. I read somewhere that it can destroy the nails so I'm not so much convinced about using it. Besides, the fake nails are expensive for me. :D Have fun nail painting!

My nails had always been done by a professional. It is because I do not know how to paint my nails. And also manicures and pedicures and other stuff concerns being beautiful is some kinda cheap here in the country. You see, I only pay around $3-4 per pedicure.

I don't have a problem with the practice as long as it has done its purpose - making the nails clean and providing it with a little aesthetic. I usually have my nails done only for really special occasions becuase I consider it expensive for my wallet. Also, I have a problem with painted nails becuase they usually chip after a short period of time (I do a lot of cleaning and contact with water). However, the practice (when I have it done) makes me feels great afterward knowing that I am presentable as a whole. I never had fake nails before and I don't intend to have it done.

Thanks for sharing You should put clear coat on top of the nails to make it less from not chipping. I like to use Sally Hansens Xtreme or the Diamond collection. They don't chip for me + clear coat. I only get my nails done for special occasions too cause it is pricey

i never have my nails done by professionals... i think it is just not worth it and it is so expensive... it costs $50 here per manicure... i don't have that kind of luxury yet because of my job and my income... may be one day... i don't really like my nails to be painted anyway... take care and have a nice day...

I think nais that are done professionally look so nice. I wish I could afford to have them done all the time but I cant. I've had them done twice.. at my prom and at my wedding. My real nails tend to break easily so I just keep them short or let them grow until one breaks then cut them all.

Yeah but they do cost a lot and I don't have that kind of money. My real nails break easily too so I use a strength coat to make them grow harder from Sally Hansens. Thx for sharing

Since my jobs require hands-on work, it would be ludicrous and a waste of money and time to have my nails professionally done. Nothing I can't take care of with a pair of nail clippers. I have heard that your real nails can weaken and turn yellow over time by the glue and other chemicals sometimes used by manicurists.

Yeah it is bad to get your nails done often. I go to school so I paint my nails occasionally..I don't need to but I like to but I do them myself so it doesn't cost much. Thanks for sharing.

I always get my nails done by a professional because i don't know how to do it by myself. I usually have my toe nails done but I seldom have my finger nails done. I like to see my fingernails with no nail polish or colors in it except on special occasions. I have a relative who does my nails for only a dollar and I'm very happy with that coz it's so cheap. But others they ask for $5.

When i was still a budding lady, i would sometimes have my nails done by a professional. But sometimes, they hurt my nails accidentally so from then on, i just would clean my nails by myself. That way, i would know if what i am doing is hurtful already to my nails so i will not go on with it. I would just clean & cut my fingernails short but i don't have it painted. But for my toes, i clean them myself but have it painted. My favorite color is Exactly Red!

I personally do my own nails at home because to be perfectly honest with you going to a nail salon can get expensive. And right now we are in an economical stage that I can't afford to have that luxury, so I prefer to do them myself at home. Going to do my nails every 2 weeks would be almost $45 to $50 dollars a month. Now if we are talking about a special occassion, like a vacation or a party of some sort, then yes, I will go out and get them done professionally. My husband doesn't like fake nails, I used to get acrylics before we got married and he requested that I let my nails grow, apparently he didn't like the feeling of them. So since then I haven't done acrylics anymore.
