Gastritis

I'm currently having pain in my stomach due to gastritis and it's really preventing me from working efficiently. I eat in small amounts in the office because if I eat too much or in moderate amounts, my stomach acts up. Are there any foods other than crackers that I can digest properly without me feeling nauseous or hyperacidic? I take omeprazole when I'm in pain from gastritis but sometimes I want to rely on foods that can help me heal properly. My doctor advised that I eat properly and on time, and I know when working I sometimes forget to eat but even if I did not forget to eat, my tummy just won't function normally.

I was diagnosed as having gastritis, too. Drinking hot water and eating sugarless biscuits help. Even when you are too busy to eat properly, as long as you eat biscuits that is okay. Try to eat the biscuit when you feel inflammation in your stomach or before you feel pain.

I just went through a spell of that myself and the only thing that actually helped me was to stop eating altogether for 24 hours. I then ate some raw vegetables and a piece of homemade bread, avoiding everything else. I paid close attention to my stomach and when it signaled to stop, I did so immediately. I think our bodies know what to do if we but listen to them. Also, taking omeprazole or any other proton pump inhibitor, can actually cause stomach pain and gastrointestinal infections among other things. The side effects can be quite serious. You might want to talk to your doctor about getting off of it and treating your gastric problems some other way. Quite often, a controlled diet will make all the difference in the world. Coffee, soft drinks, sugar, wheat... lots of things cause it.

You sure it's not your gall bladder? Mine made me really sick no matter what I ate. I lived for a long time on pretzels and sprite! Then that even made me sick and I was reduced to nothing almost. I would be hungry but if I even touched food to my mouth my stomach yelled, "Get it out of here!!!"

I have the same situation with you. I was advised by my doctor to avoid drinking coffee without eating anything together with it. There isn't any more comfortable food that would make you get eased of the pain. Based on my personal experience, the best medicine and not to starve your self. You must eat right away from the first signal of hunger. Don't wait for you to become very very hungry before eating something. That way, you can avoid having gastric pains. I also take omeprazole for if it's not tolerable.
