Shore Excursions in Alaska??

We just booked a cruise to Alaska for Late May. We always try to do interesting activities when on shore, and not necessarily the packaged excursions. Any suggestions from those who have taken such a cruise, or from those who may have lived up there?

It is now 4 years since your trip. I wonder how you enjoy it. If I were to take a cruise to Alaska, I would definitely go for the shore excursions. I do not want to miss the ship. Alaska is so far away from my home.

The trip was wonderful! We loved the grandeur of the places and the spectacular whale watching excursion. One of our favorite trips ever!
