You may have heard on the news about all the horrible bullying going on in schools, many directed gays. Barnes & Noble is trying to change that. Each year Barnes & Noble holds No Name-Calling Week from January 24th to the 28th, sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). They have lots of anti-bullying materials for teachers and educators, including a book recommendation list and lesson plans for elementary and middle school students. http://gayrights.change.org/blog/view/barnes_noble_throws_the_book_at_bullies Do you think that this is an effective way to help stop bullying? Have you ever went to a Barnes & Noble during No Name-Calling Week? What was your experience?

I'm not sure how effective it is, but it sure is nice to know that someone cares enough about this type of thing to do something. Kids can be so cruel, and yes, it really can effect a person for the rest of their life. I know from experience.

Yes I think that just the fact that someone does care can be very helpful. Thanks for sharing.

I have never attended such an event but I agree something needs to be done to stop bullying! It doesn't just ruin a kids day, it could ruin their future in many ways!
