Is it warm enough to grill where you are?

We are having a really nice day, and I have thawed a ten pound package of chicken. I am marinating it, hubby is starting up the smoker. We usually cook our food most of the way in the smoker, then go ahead and put it in the oven for a while. It gets that nice smokey grilled flavor, but we also know it is completely done. We will have several pretty nice days here this week. On Friday we may go to the Sedgewick County Zoo. Having a warm enough day to grill makes a good break in the winter weather.

Hi Gerty! Well, it's warmer than it was here the last few days. It's 28 degrees and if I had a grill I probably would do some cooking, but living in an apartment I don't have one. My kids grill out in any kind of weather if they have an inkling to. You just can't beat that flavor! Have fun at the zoo, it's just a bit too cold yet here to do that and I'm not that brave, haha. Although, when I was younger and pregnant, I did have a picnic in the park during the winter, snow and all. Wish I had that much enthusiasm now.

The weather is going to be almost fifty on Friday, and we have a pass for the year, so I want to use it a little more. There are also lots of buildings to be in at the zoo in Wichita, and that makes it really nice. I took a bunch of teens/preteens to a lake and made cocoa and somemores at a bon fire. I was celebrating my son and his friend's birthdays that time.

We have cardinals that never leave. One sits in the top of one of my trees and sings and sings on sunny days.

Oh the fifties sounds awesome! I can't wait, oh spring, oh spring, where are you??? Green leaves, birds chirping, windows open, ahhh, sounds so good! I love your avatar with the camper and umbrella...I can almost feel myself right there in the nice warm weather. Can't wait to go camping this year. The zoo is so much fun to visit. I haven't been there in a few years (just too much going on) but I'm looking forward to it this year I hope.

Oh my if I grilled here any day soon both the chicken and I would be solid frozen. It is 30 below zero Fahrenheit. But I would love to come by you and have a great time at the zoo. I do love to visit any zoo, as I find them so enjoyable.

It is warmer here, and sunnier, but the temp is still only 30 degrees. As much as my husband insists he loves grilled food, we are not set up to grill properly, even if it was the middle of summer..:( My neighbor, on the other hand, I can see him coming home today and firing up his gas grill for something because he is set up.

We have a smoker, and it is pretty easy to use any time. No gas grill here. I love the flavor from the differnt woods we use. Our neighbor has a huge smoker that he has made himself, and he will use it out in his garage any time.

That is sad. We are using hardwood and charcoal today.

We have a charcoal and gas grill, but charcoal is messy and not good for cold weather cooking and the gas grill needs just a 70 dollar part, but my husband isn't buying it, but he also isn't allowing someone else to enjoy the grill, it just sits on the side of the house...

Nope certainly not warm enough to grill around here, at least not for us. It is actually 31 degrees today which is the warmest it has been for a while and some hard core grillers probably will go out there and grill but that is still a bit too cold for me and my husband. We did grill on New Years Eve though and it was in the mid 40's which was kind of a winter heat wave around here. We got some nice steaks and my husband marinated hem and grilled them, they were so good. I can't wait till we can go back to grilling regularly.

It is fortyish and we will not stay outside while we cook, but will put the chicken hindquarters on the smoker. It will be a real flavor pick me up for the middle of winter. I love soups and chili but after a while you want something else. We sometimes make a game of figuring what the meal actually cost us, then what it would cost to get a similar meal in a local restaurant, and then gloating over how good it is and how much we saved. Very satisfying.

We're in the middle of a heat wave! Our temps went up through the night last night. Today's high is going to be 30 degrees! That is exciting.. considering for the past few days the temps were below zero.

Our sun is shining, how about yours? I am going to walk a survey about grocery shopping to the closest mail box. To me thirties are pretty good temps and above forty is even better.

Heat over 95, and humidity makes me cranky. I got a kiddy pool last summer and it was nice to cool off.

Nope, no sun here today. We had sun on the super cold days though. I personally would prefer something closer to the 70's! But not much above that. Too hot makes me cranky!

I haven't been out yet today, but my husband just went out. He says it's cold, but there's no wind. Not snowing, the the crap that fell yesterday is still there. LOL I guess if we had a grill we'd use one, but we live in a basement apartment, so grilling in the basement is N O T a good idea. lol

Nope, do not want you to grill inside. Carbon monoxide poisoning is not fun. We still have some snow and ice in the shady spots, but the weather was above freezing yesterday when we grilled and today as well. I stay in way too much when there is snow and ice out there.

Yes as a matter a fact it is great grilling weather here. We are having almost record breaking temps for winter. Our highs this week range from the mid to upper 60's (F), very nice indeed. I wouldn't be surprised if some areas hit 70 degrees (F). Have fun at the zoo, maybe I will plan a trip this week to the zoo, animals should be out with weather like this.

We have had 40-50 degree weather and we don't have a grill. I am starving though and this smoked chicken sounds really good. My daughter was commenting a month or so ago that we should get a grill this Spring. We have to do that. I haven't had a grilled anything in years. Life is funny that way. Glad you are having nice weather. That must be a treat!

Our smoker is a Brinkman, but you can do a lot, including smoke stuff with a Weber kettle grill and they are reasonably priced. I hope you get one. You are certainly having nice weather for January.

I am in Alabama and grilling never crosses my mind until early March. However, going down the road the other day I noticed someone grilling, and it was 40 something that day. They appeared to be having a little together with their friends. I thought to myself "boy that is strange seeing someone grilling this time of year " We just got over, well what "Alabama" calls a winter storm lol. After we passed I asked my husband did he see them grilling. He laughed and said "yeah I did, but I just wasn't going to say anything " Then he nicely informed me not to ask him to grill because he had no plans on it ! I had actually forgotten about it until I saw your post caption, and I had giggle. So obviously people can't wait to break out their grilling items and get that food smoking. I don't blame you one bit !

Well, I had this ten pound of leg quarters and it seemed like something good to do. We are in Kansas, it is around forty and sunny today. We are basically smoking the chicken for flavor, and will probably finish it off in the oven. Hubby grew up in Michigan and he would probably grill in the snow. I see you are fairly new here, I sure hope you feel welcome.

The chicken was very good, and we had enough for tonight too. I had some drippings where we put it in a baking dish and kept it warm in the oven, so I made some old fashioned chicken gravy with milk.

Hiya GG, At the moment we have restrictions as to where and how we can grill things so I take them already done in a Tupperware as we can be fined heavily for not doing so. Also we can´t grill where we live as the Garden is really a public one it is not mine either. If you do try to hold a Meal out there in the Garden there is Furniture and things but they throw things from upstairs at you and annoy you with anything they can think of. So I decided that this was just not on. That we would have our Meal out already cooked and done and with no Police hassling us as to how where or what. There have been some very bad Fires here over the past few years so I can appreciate what they do to a point but they seem to go to the extreme. Often it´s the Person who does everything right and cleans up after them that gets bothered by the Police here. Not always but mostly. However I hope you enjoy yours and glad you are having nice Weather too. Have a great time GG.

That is terrible that people are so rude where you live that you cannot use the Garden area for a picnic. I know when areas are really dry they have to have burning restrictions. It is getting colder here today.

Hiya GG, Well the Weekend they have filled the Garden surrounding the Flats with litter it´s all over the place. I will clean it all up but only when I am ready to. I already have an idea who did it but because we live rented it´s not worth the trouble to bother about. Anyway they have to look at it all from their Windows so I thought well now they can have a nice view can´t they? Cleaning it all up now invites them to do it again and again you see that´s how they work here. I think that Spain really needs to have those regulations and anyone should be fined or jailed for breaking them. It can get to be very hot and very dry in spite of the Rainfalls we have been having here.

We will have three or four good days and I intend to make the most of them. It is what you have to do in the winter. This has been a mild winter, mostly. On our cold days, however, we have set new record lows. Spring is coming, we have to be positive.

Today it will be 45 here that is a real warm up here too. We was 16 last week water froze. This weekend it will be 50 that is a good thing we will cook out this weekend. But then next week they call for lower temperatures gas low so I am hoping that we won't get much cooler. I am as positive as I can be at this point and time. I will be happy when we get a wood stove in here but that will be next year sometime hopefully. Hope all stays warm for you.
