Does the weather affect your mood?

Today is mostly cloudy and it almost seems like it's going to start raining. i can't explain why, but i can't help myself feeling gloomy all of a sudden. the cold windy air and the sound of the rain falling on the roof makes me reminisce unwanted and painful memories making me feel sad and lonely. on sunny days, on the other hand, is a different story. although the hot weather makes me grouchy sometimes, considering the fact that i feel icky with sweat (hahaha), i usually relate sunny weather with vacation, happy times outside, and mostly being lazy in bed..and in a way it cheers me up. so in a way, though i find it wierd, i think my mood does vary depending on the weather. but even though the weather may affect affect my mood, i think the people around me are mostly the ones that contributes to how i feel.

I wonder if the weather is to be blamed if I feel a bit lazy when it's cloudy or raining. I easily get tired when it's too hot and the temperature is burning high. I in the mood to work when it's windy and the air is cool. I get inspirations when the night is cool and when there's stars in the sky. I feel happy seeing clear skies. Well, I guess weather stimulates me, positively and negatively!

most of the time yes.. but if i have very important thing to do, i don't have a choice but go out or go on despite of whatever weather we have here. these past few days, it's raining really hard everyday. good thing, so far, i'm already in the office. sometimes though i prefer to just postpone my task.. aside from work.. just cuddle with my pillow and listen to the music. if it's sunny, i don't really like goin out. if i have to, im calling the cab.

Yes.. I feel really sleepy and less energetic when its raining. Most of the time I like it when its cold without rain since I feel calm and I really am relax and calm in that weather. I really hate it when it gets hot at times because i tend to be out of mood.. ;D

Hi! Yes, the weather affects my mood. Hot weather makes me feel lazy and irritable. With all the sweat and sticky feeling, it does affect how I function during the day. Hot weather also makes me sleepy. On the other hand, I like gloomy weather. For most people, they find gloomy weather depressing and causing them to feel nostalgic or blue. However, in my case, I work best during cold weather. I can think more and function better.

It makes me miserable cause I have to drive in this horrible weather. If I stay inside or don't have to work it does effect me, but never in a negative way. It affects my mood in a very negative way when I have to drive in snow and I get nervous about driving in it.

i agree with U about "the people around me are mostly the ones that contributes to how i feel", but i think U forget about our job or task. because sometimes i have a bad feeling if i get much job to do.

Oh most definately, although knowing that, I try not to let it be too bad. I think I get SAD in winter (seasonal affective disorder). I would much rather hibernate until the weather is better but what a waste. I try to just get on with things. The computer is great for that as it is always sunny somewhere. It even helps knowing that somebody has worse weather than us although that does feel mean. Whether the weather be hot, or whether the weather be not. We'll weather the weather, whatever the weather. Whether we like it or not!

I think for me it might not be the weather directly, but what the weather allows and doesn't allow you to do. If the weather is nice I'm able to keep myself busy by going somewhere and finding something to do. When the weather is bad because of rain or snow (or just cold) then I'm stuck home and it gives me more time to sit around and think about problems. I'm pretty good at finding things to do to keep my mind off things though (most of the time). I think, more than the weather, my personal relationships affect my mood more than the weather does.

weather greatly affects my mood, when the morning was overcast and rainy, making me feel lazy to do anything, because the air was cold, and my laundry into piles, if it's like this, makes me want to sleep.

Hi. Apparently, it does. Our moods do seem to be influenced by the weather. Some say it has scientific basis, others claim it's just cause and effect. No one can say which is which. But I am inclined to believe it's the latter. I mean the weather causes the mood to change and not vice versa :) But I guess the weather only triggers the mood and did not cause it. Like you said, rain falling on the roof makes you reminisce painful memories. So those memories caused your mood change and not the rainy weather. Well, I'm making a stand. External factors contribute to mood changes, not the weather. Oh, by the way, I barely passed Psychology 101 :)

I definitely believe that weather and atmosphere affects the moods we are in. If the skies are graya nd gloomy so will our moods be too. If the skies are sunny and bright, that is reflected in how we are feeling.

The weather certainly has an important impact on my moods and overall well-being. When it is very windy and bittert cold outside I get cranky by just getting all warm clothes to keep me warm. When it's heavy snowing with icy roads I feel in a bad mood. Compared to a sunny summer day with blue sky feeling happy going to the beach. I believe the moon also has an powerful effect on many people.

I find that most people feel happy when it's sunny, and sad when it's gloomy outside... I'm actually the opposite. But there are a lot of factors. I typically feel really calm and serene when it rains and the sun isn't out. But, in addition to that, the rain really does make joints hurt (keep in mind I'm only 18...) but I think the pressure of the atmosphere really puts pressure onto my already wear and sore knees, so that can get me down sometimes. If the sun is unexpected, like, it's been rainy and gloomy for a while, then it will cheer me up. But if it's during the summer and the sun is out a lot, the light and heat actually make me very tired. I don't know what it is, but sun really makes me want to sleep.

YES! DEFINITELY. Thank God, today is sunny here in the Philippines. Not so cloudy but at least you can see the sun and a warm breeze of air. One thing that I really hate is whenever the rain came puring every morning. I ate the gloomy appearance whenever I woke up. Seemingly creepy, every time the weather is like that. I have an experience when the rain suddenly poured out and unfortunately, I don't have an umbrella. My initial reaction was, "Ok rain? You didn't tell me that you're coming?!". That totally ruined my day because when I got out of the house, the sun is at its peak. But around afternoon, the rain never stopped from pouring. Oh, Climate change. such a tricky whether and phenomena to change my mood!

Well... Yes it does. Now we have winter time at my place and many times when I think to play guitar in evening or morning...i got myself in very complicated position to start and my mood turn on to sleep or doing some other things like reading or talking over phone ... So I think it's play a big role in our life... Thanks..

Whenever it's raining I find it hard to even get out of bed. Yeah, the weather affects my mood. Whenever it's sunny, I feel jumpy and wanna get out and just roam around wherever, hang out with friends, or just do whatever. Whenever it's couldy, I feel indifferent. I just wanna surf the net and participate here on myLot.

The weather definitely affects me. Where I am, there is only one season...HOT. and how can you feel happy when sweaty? I wish there are seasons, yet I am thankful there isn't any weather-related disasters over here. So I shouldn't complain. Just need to find air-conditioned places to be in.
