Why do women have varying degrees?

1. What makes a woman different degrees? In terms of the level of faith, or in terms of status (girls, wife, widow)?
2. Why do girls have a higher degree of wives, and wives is higher than the widow? Based on specific things if that makes a higher status than the other?
3. What is the relationship between the level of faith with the specific case discussed point 2 so as to raise or lower the degree of a woman? What makes a related?

in the past, marry a slave is very raised in as a slave arguably there is no price.to marry, meaning freed from slavery,became a free man.
