when people get in power many turn into jerks

Why is it when people get into power they turn into idiots. I work for local government and it is incredible to see. I have seen men scream and holler at one another, the spit just flying. Honestly, I believe that it has to do with having testosterone in their blood. When bulls are guarding their territory they paw the grown and the dust and dirt flies, that is what this reminds me of. They have the lives a all kinds of people in their hands and they are people territorial and insane just to show up the other guy. It makes me want to run in the other direction.
