What comes to mind when you hear Valentine's Day? Is it all about gifts of love? Or.. do you think a excuse for Hallmark to sell cards? Me? I must confess I hear Valentine's Day and I think of a garage in Chicago in 1929!. This is the first year I have a steady. But I still rather not get anything and see about the best known mob hit. I guess I am not romantic. How about you?

I don't really think of it to be honest. I mean I know it's coming and it's nice to spend it with your guy but as far as spending a bunch of money..nahh. Going out to eat is crazy on Valentines day too. Have you ever tried that? There is a 3 hour wait everywhere!

This is my first rodeo, The first time I have been in love on Feb 14th. I am a picky eater and the best meal for me is pizza. So I wouldn't even want to go to a posh place! G-d help the guy who wanted to impress me! I hate flowers, Don't want jewelry, and won't eat at a fancy restaurant!

Nothing wrong with that. I like nice things, but I have actually been insulted before when someone has tried to give me too much. I suppose it made me feel as though they thought I was for sale or something. Big turn off to go to far to soon..know what I mean? Congrats on your first Valentines Day with your love.

I won't go as far to say I thought all of this was set up by Hallmark, but I Never thought this holiday wasn't for me. This year I have a steady but I still don't feel like celebrating it. I hate flowers. I only like plain milk chocolate.I don't want any posh jewelry. What is the point?

I told mt guy point blank , no flowers. What I didn't tell him is that I see flowers as a cop out apology, a Fake apology. Ironically he Loves flowers. I just told him , I feel the complete opposite. This is th first time I will be in love when Feb 14th rolls along and All I eant to do is see about the St Valentine's Day Massacre !

I think it is a nice holiday. Good grief, we celebrate peoples deaths with a holiday, why not love? I don't have a problem with it...and it is nice to get things like that. I guess I have just always been with the wrong person! I don't like flowers either...well I like them but to buy them...and they are so expensive and they die in a few days....I keep hinting to my husband...buy me a plant that I can keep...but he don't get the message. If he is with someone that is doing something for his wife or girl....mine will do 2 dozen carnations. Big deal. They mean nothing, cause they are the cheapest flower he can find and he only did it to impress who he was with.

I remember being young. And having the stress of planning something for Valentine's day. Like buying something for a girl, going on a date, having trouble making reservations on favorite restaurants, and most of all, the pressure from guy-friends to 'get-lucky'. Thankfully, I don't have those expectations anymore.

Thanks for your response.I have never saw it from thr guy's point of view. Oops. Sorry And I call myself for men's rights. My G-d everything Could go wrong! You could pick a flower she hates. You could go for what you can afford in a gift and she may not like it, Her favoeite restaurant is booked until April! And there goes your evening! And knowing women , you will Never live it down! Am I glad I told my guy , No Flowers. He is lucky , my favoerite restaurant is for my birthday not Feb 14th I Don't want a gift. So the night won't be ruined.

I get this compliment very often that I am not a romantic person at all but I do love to be loved. Valentine day is just another day for me and if time permits I may go out for dinner with my lovely wife. She also does not believe in all these so calledlove days or anything similar. I believe that if love is their in our life, everyday is a celebration and contrary cannot make us happy even on Valentine Day. Thank you for sharing.

Hi! I'm not really on keen on Valentine's Day. It isn't my favorite holiday, maybe because I haven't been in a relationship for a while. For me, it's just a regular day, except that all restaurants and dining places are full and malls are surrounded with red - red roses, red balloons, and chocolates. However, I respect the holiday. It is a time when people become so romantic and it's nice moment to ignite the spark in a relationship.

Ok. Thanks I think I understand better why guys are buying the jewelry and the flowers. They Have to re- woo they loves.

Valentine's day does mean very little to me. It's a time when I see people throwing their money senselessly away, just for a day. I think love shouldn't be set to one day at all, one time when you celebrate it with gifts. Love should be celebrated all year round, because isn't it amazing to show that one person how much you love them each day?

I totally agree. Not one day has gone by where I didn't express how I feel about my guy. Trying to bottle all of it into one day doesn't make sense!

I must say that today I pay less attention to the Valentine's Day. In the past we would celebrate it. But now our focus has changed and we wouldn't pay expensive celebration fee for the Valentine's Day. We prefer to use this money for our family. Besides, we have a child now and therefore we have to bring him when we are out. Namely just forget the romance:) I love China

For me it's a special day set aside to let others know how very much you love them...for me it's my family....like a mini Christmas here! LOL...I did Hershey's candy bars with new labels I made from valentines paper and put pretty ribbons on them...not so much the money aspect..but the presentation! LOL..and I make homemade cards too...so its a special day to give a little special attention!

I am not too big on valentines day. It's hardly a fun holiday when you're single and hate seeing all the couples. I also think it's weird to have a day where everyone goes around giving each other chocolate and flowers when those are two of the worst gifts. I guess I'm a cynic though. I do like christmas!

When I was single , I thought the romantic part wasn't meant for me.So I never got into the lovey dovey part. I never liked receiving flowers. To me they are a cop out apology I will not accept. As for candies, unless they are all plain milk chocolate, i may not like All of them. This year I have a guy and Told him , he is Already my Valentine so no flowers! I hope you can enjoy this Feb 14th. Take Care.

Valientine's Day means to just everything about love! Making love, getting married, spending time with your loved one, getting gifts to each other and doing something special with your special person! Thbat what I think Valentine's Day should be! In gradate school the class exchanged Valentines. I rmemember that when I was growing up. It also means chocalte and those candy hearts that have sappy sayings on them like "I LUV YOU" or "BE MINE"! This is what Valentine's Day is to me!

Valentine's day is so overrated! If you're truly in love you don't need February 14 to prove that. Its an everyday event.

For me Valentine's day is this one day in a year where a man can show his woman how much love he has for her. It is also a way for men to say how he feels to this one person in the world that they actually have feelings for them. The day itself just makes it magical for some. For the rest its a day in a year where they give themselves a break from all the hustle and bustle, to give themselves time out romantically without sounding corny. I am not a hopeless romantic per say, but of course I still want to be asked out on the said day. But for me, for as long as my man is with me on that day, that itself, makes my day.

When I hear about valentines day, the only thing that comes to the mind is a single gentle kiss. I belive that all valentines day is about would be Love. Love full of kisses, hearts, candy ,flowers, cards, and of couse chocolate. I think that the perfect time to get engadged would be valentines day.
