What is your opinion of Columbia house DVD club?

Right now I'm stuck in one of those annoying purchase commitment deals where you have to buy 3 additional DVD at regular club price or else! and the thing is I think I'd like the DVD club much better if they didn't have such clauses because it feels a bit like being forced to buy somthing, I dont like feeling forced to do anything
Other then these commitment offer deals I think the club is not bad they do have pretty good sales offers, and sometimes the shipping is free depending on if theres a special happening or not but I think they should not have these crazy high purchase agreement offers just my opinion.
What is your opinion of Columbia house DVD club?

I was stuck in that "club" for a while, until I closed my credit card down and they couldn't charge me anymore. lol. I hate that they would try to charge you $25 per DVD once you already got the good deal you signed up for. You just need to "decline" your "Director's Selections" otherwise they WILL send you them and bill you automatically. I can't say it's a scam but it's definitely not worth it. It's a lesson to be learned, though, because you should always read the Terms of Service before putting your credit card on any site. I learned that one the hard way..Ha ha. Oh well.

Yeah your right its iportaunt to read the tirms before signing up for anything I made an acception of my own rule and got stuck, as for my directors selections I always decline those, and I'm only two DVDs away from completing my purchase agreement so I'll be free of the trap soon. I've also already removed my most importaunt credit card, so I no longer have worry about sudden unexpected charges to my credit card.
Like you said its a lesson learned

I think Columbia House DVD Club is a good program. I was a member there before for quite some time, and I bought a few DVDs. They have a very good collection of movies, dating back a number of years. Later, I got too busy with my job, travelling too often, I left the Club.

...Hi apples99, I am a member of the club, I have satisfied my membership because I found movies that I wanted to have in my collection so that was no problem. After that they send you the monthly form, I got tired of that because sometimes I would forget so I told them I wanted to end the membership. What they did was to offer me membership without having to answer the form every month. So when I want a movie I get in touch with the company. So when you finish your committment if you want then to ask them to allow you to do that. I like the company basically as long as there is no pressure to keep buying. Take care.
