They predicted "snowmageddon", we got less than that.

No mayor this time suggesting army help. Nope, we didn't need it for this storm. It was predicted that by Wednesday afternoon we'd have at least a foot of snow on the ground. Instead, we got half of that. But, as a result of the amount that we got, people got wise and didn't venture out on the roads as much as they usually would have. This made it quicker for the plows to get the main roads done and start the side streets. Normally our street doesn't get cleared at all as we never get the 8cm minimum drop. But on Wednesday, we were plowed by 11am. The mail person refused to deliver our mail on Wednesday, we hadn't cleared our walkway, but it was still snowing, so there was no point in doing so. Fast forward to today, it's 2 days after the storm and I still have work to do out there. 2 nine hour days didn't cut it with a crew compliment of 3-6 people, there's still more snow to clear that we never got to. My boss decided that 6" of snow was too much, and that 9 hours out there was plenty for us. 18 work hours later, and I figure that we have at least another 6 hours of clearing to do today. It's hard on my body, but the money is worth it. Just do the math and you'll be able to see that for yourself. 24 hours times $16/hr. And that's straight wage, no deductions, and that makes it even nicer. At least there wont be any more to do over the coming days, so I'll finally get to relax for a while. Winter will be over soon, thankfully, then we'll be getting into spring work, and I love that even more.

they even predicted 3 inches of snow for south Texas, canceled school and garbage pick up. But we got now snow. And I am just as glad!

Snow is rare down there and thankfully for you it didn't snow. But closing down the schools for 3" is too much. Even when we get that, nothing shuts down. But then again, if you're not outfitted for snow removal, I guess closing and canceling services would be warranted.

Sometimes we do what we love, and sometimes we do what pays the bills. Sometimes we get really lucky and we get to pay our bills doing what we love. I am glad that you did not get as much snow as they thought you would. It is only February, and it will still be a while for spring.

Spring is something I really can't wait until spring. I was wrong about not having more to do, after being out for longer than planned today, there was more snow falling, and it's still coming down. Just means more work tomorrow.
