I wanted to be a professional singer when I was a little girl

When I was a little girl I always wanted to be a singer. I used to be doing dishes and make up some real good songs. The words would just pop up and I would sing them. They sounded real good. Sometimes they were christian, rock and just soft listening kind of songs. I used to sing them to my friends and they thought they were real cool. I guess when I was real little. My mom went to the laundry mat and I was singing a christian song that I made up and a lady there said wow that is one good song that she is singing. I've never heard that one before and my mom told her that I made it up. I was bashful most of the time but I use to sing around my friends every now and then,in school and church choir, and with my fake grandpa. My fake grandpa played the guitar. I thought that was a lot of fun singing with him. I got to where when I sang in front of a lot of people singing for the school and church I would look at the back wall of the room so it wouldn't bother me as much. I haven't sang infront of a lot of people since school though and I started thinking that I didn't want to be famous because I didn't want to be like a lot of famous people and not have any privacy. Lots of people following me everywhere to see what I'm doing and having to deal with people making up stories about the kind of person I am.

I still wish I could be a professional musician. I play piano and write songs too. Not that many, but I have written a few that I like. I would really like to try recording them. I used to sing in choir in middle school and once had a big solo in do you hear what I hear? I messed up because the choir director whispered the wrong words in my ear before starting. We had to start all over again and it was really embarrassing. The next time I tried out for a solo I didn't sing loud enough. I had one other time where I sang at a piano recital in high school. I really want more experience singing in front of people. I did one open mic night at a bar in new york and was really nervous about it because I didn't have the song memorized well and there was no stand for my lyrical notebook. It went without a hitch though and it was really enjoyable in retrospect.

Thank you for commenting. You sound like you still might be able to do that. Maybe you can go to clubs and sing sometimes to get your courage more and maybe some club will hire you permanently. That would be cool.

I had dreams when I was a young girl of being a famous singer one day. My singing talents would not have gotten me very far. I have come to learn more of my talents would have just been in the words that were written.

Thank you for commenting. You must have had some real good songs that you made up. I did too now I wish I would've wrote them down because I can't remember the words to any of them.

Oh, you are a very gifted person. That is very good. I don't have that gift, although I very much wish I have it. But, I certainly have a lot of praise who can sing songs so beautifully. Let me say, I am addicted to listening songs, all kinds of songs, including those of other countries and cultures. I have a collection of CDs of many different songs.

Thank you for such nice words. That's cool that you like music from all countries. Do you know a lot of languages then since you listen to different countries music. You have a good week!

I used to sing a lot when I was younger. I was always shy, but if I was with a group, I could get in front of people and sing. I would occasionally do karaoke after I grew up and sing my favorite songs and I was still pretty good, but since I stopped going to church and singing with the choir, I haven't done much singing at all. I don't even listen to music very often. I like to sing sometimes as it does make me feel better about things, but I don't do it enough any more. Thanks for sharing this!

Good luck in persuing your dreams. Lots of people make and share their music independently without going through the whole celebrity thing anyway. Have you thought about taking singing lessons or getting a little voice recorder to record yourself. If you are ready, you can create a musicians profile for yourself on myspace or upload a video on youtube. It's easier than you think. Just remember to copyright your songs if they are your own.

Thank you. What your saying would be a very good idea when I was in to it more. I haven't sang much in lots of years now and I don't remember any of my songs. I wish I would've wrote them down. They were real good one and I am not that gifted on making up songs anymore.
