Modern day possession do you believe? What can it hurt if it works?

exorcisms happen just as then possession of the human mind by a foreign energy or soul which is kinda like an operating system some people are more likely to become possessed than others because of the strength of their soul. I personally believe it happens as there are multiple cultures and religions that cover the topics. as for the possession of the mind or soul by an idea not sure if there is a way to counter act that besides letting it run through

I believe a person can be possessed (though i dont care for that term) sort of but I dont believe in demons..I do however believe in lost and angry spirits..Do I think that an exorcism would be harmful? Hhmm that depends on a few things, the key one being how its being done. What it entails..I've heard some horrid news stories of bad exorcism practices going terribly wrong and the "possessed" being seriously hurt (physically) and in some cases dying.. That said..I wanted to see The Rite but I'm humming and hawing over it. I jsut watched The Last Exorcism last night and it was absolutely terrible.

I watched a documentary about the (supposed) case which inspired the movie "the exorcist". According to this it was a boy rather than a girl and the trouble started when he and an aunt started dabbling with a Ouija board.. I find it interesting that there's a Bible verse which says "Jesus went about doing good and healing all those oppressed of the devil" - which makes me wonder if sickness is an oppression, seeing as he healed all who came to him for healing.. (oppression being of a level lower then outright possession, which possession, i think may explain away some of the more horrific crimes of the world). - I like what you said about too many viruses / bad ideas on our hard drive! Which to me would be things untrue, any lie, and false thing (shadow?).. and then again we're back to the Bible which calls Satan, that fallen angel which led 1/3 of the angels to rebellion, the "father of lies".. (does it say 'all lies" I wonder..) - Of course we all have some lies on our human hard drive.. but anything false and untrue can grow and become a monster/large problem.. Bible also says that Jesus said "you will know the truth and the truth will set you free" - Is it always truth that cancels out a lie? Sets us free from said lie? Whatever it may be? Large/highly destructive or debilitating and, or 'small'?

I haven't watched The Rite but I already watched Exorcism of Emily Rose and it also came to me how the possession become. I haven't found any basis if it is real or not. But like you said that we can be possessed by ideas and I believe in you. I actually believe that we are possessed without experiencing awful events even though we were just sitting or walking and thinking of bad things to other people is already a possession. The factors behind that were the family background that the person lives in and his environment. I think this is a true possession for me. Have a nice day!

Me also not yet seen that movie but I seen like documentary movie about exorcism which full of human evil action, it was not real it was man made things. I believe if possession of evil spirit because it is mentioned in the bible. see you around

I think it's disgusting the practice itself but i have never come in connect with anyone who is possessed so i dont know! i sure as hell wouldn't want a demon in my house such as in paranomal activity 2... do you know if that really is based on a true story.

Scary actually. When you brain just too addicted to the same idea, and your heart truly believe that you were possessed of some form, then your brain totally infected with virus from computer sense. Well, hopefully, none of any those superstitious thing would happen within our life though.
