unusual or unique hotel experience. . .

When I was 21 years old I went to a hotel in Sumatra, Indonesia. I came into a room with a stable door and sat on the bed. I noticed writing on the wall that said "Do not sleep here. These beds have bed bugs and flees so check out now." It was late at night so I didn't have the time to find a better place to stay that night. I told the hotel manager and he gave me a room with a double bed and a single bed. That night I heard something run across my plastic bags on the floor. I thought they might have been mice or rats. The next morning I checked out and asked some other travelers for the name of a decent place to stay. I moved on to a clean and pleasant guest house. I stayed in a moored ship youth hostel when I was in Stockholm and that was a lovely experience. In South Africa I stayed in a parked carriage of a train and it has coastal views. That was a very enjoyable stay on the Garden Route. The best place I have stayed that was unique was in Bullet Tree Falls in Belize. I was staying in a tall thatched tree house. Wow! Now I tend to stay in a ground floor bedroom for 3 or 4 people at a guest house or cheap hotel.

I have stayed in a lot of gîtes in France. A gîte is a building like a barn, sheep-fold, or some other non-habitable building that has been converted into a temporary residence. They're quite unusual and usually very cheap.

My most unusual hotel experience was also very traumatic for me. It was the first time I was ever stung by a bee. Lounging by the hotel pool, i slipped into my sandals and stepped on a bee. it took a lot of joy from that hotel excursion!

hello doggy I do love travelling with hubby, kids and grandkids during vacations of grandkids schools, We usually travel by train and stay in good but not too costly hotels Yes once i faced some thing funny but serious, during middle of shower the water failed to come in the tap, lastly they gave few buckets of water lol, haha too bad..
