Has anyone of you tried out any unique hotel lately? Some are quite expensive but an experience to remember. Can you share any experience staying in an unusual hotel? If you still have not tried yet, are you willing to book there? Here are my favorite unique hotels that I wanna try... http://adrereamellal.net/index2.html http://www.giraffemanor.com/ http://www.fourseasons.com/goldentriangle/ http://www.quintareal.com/eng/idt/120/quinta-real-zacatecas http://www.poseidonresorts.com/ http://www.gamirasu.com/

When I was 21 years old I went to a hotel in Sumatra, Indonesia. I came into a room with a stable door and sat on the bed. I noticed writing on the wall that said "Do not sleep here. These beds have bed bugs and flees so check out now." It was late at night so I didn't have the time to find a better place to stay that night. I told the hotel manager and he gave me a room with a double bed and a single bed. That night I heard something run across my plastic bags on the floor. I thought they might have been mice or rats. The next morning I checked out and asked some other travelers for the name of a decent place to stay. I moved on to a clean and pleasant guest house. I stayed in a moored ship youth hostel when I was in Stockholm and that was a lovely experience. In South Africa I stayed in a parked carriage of a train and it has coastal views. That was a very enjoyable stay on the Garden Route. The best place I have stayed that was unique was in Bullet Tree Falls in Belize. I was staying in a tall thatched tree house. Wow! Now I tend to stay in a ground floor bedroom for 3 or 4 people at a guest house or cheap hotel.

You stay in the most exciting places I see. hahaha... One day, I will do that. I checked the website of Bullet Tree Falls in Belize. It is lovely. I will take note of that if ever I can afford to go to Belize.

That is really lovely and the tree house is called Parrot Nest. From there I went on an exciting adventure at the ATM caves. I hope that you will be able to visit Belize one day.

I have stayed in a lot of gîtes in France. A gîte is a building like a barn, sheep-fold, or some other non-habitable building that has been converted into a temporary residence. They're quite unusual and usually very cheap.

I am so enjoying this discussion. I get to learn alternative accommodations from different places. I hope many would still share their views... I will take note of this one...

My most unusual hotel experience was also very traumatic for me. It was the first time I was ever stung by a bee. Lounging by the hotel pool, i slipped into my sandals and stepped on a bee. it took a lot of joy from that hotel excursion!

So sad to hear that. Did that happened on the first day of your trip or during the last days? That would be a bummer if it happened during the first few days...
