upgrading to window 7?

hey frnds how to upgrade from xp sp3 to window 7 i have a lot of important data in xp and i have a win 7 original cd to now it is worth having so i want to upgrade xpI know its is possible using window.old but i dont know anything about it so pls help and tell me more about that thanx in advance.

Hi suyash091, you can not upgrade from Windows xp, directly to windows 7. you will get an error message that upgrading from window XP to Windows 7 is not available. Windows 7 does not provide an "direct-in-place "upgrade for windows XP. you can only do custom (clean) install. so you must backup all your files to an external hard disk, of cd/dvd disks. or there is one work around. first, upgrade your Windows XP to windows Vista, then finally upgrade to Windows 7
