I'm addicted to chocolate!!

I must say I don't smoke, I drink only occasionally, I don't drink coffee, I practice lots of sports...I would say I lead a reasonably healthy life. However, I would say there's a point that disturbs me: I have always loved chocolate, specially dark chocolate. I love it's taste, what can I say, and am able of eating big amounts of it in different forms such as cocoa powder (with milk), chocolate bars, etc. The "problem" is that I think I eat too much chocolate. I don't want to stop eating it completely..scientists say it has good properties for many things...I just want to control myself a little more. Have you friends ever had a similar problem with chocolate or something similar? How did you manage to get it under control? Some feedback here would be highly appreciated

I'm a compulsive chocolate eater too. I eat two bars a day. I don't control it, I freely give in to my habit, and make absolutely 100% sure I have my daily supply. On those rare occasions that I am out of chocolate, I'll put on my coat or whatever and go out and buy some. For me it's all good, but my family sometimes urge me to cut down on my sugar intake as I also take a lot of sugar with coffee and tea. So far I feel fine on it, but I may have to cut down on all sugar in the future. Perhaps you could try to limit your chocolate intake to certain "set" times. And if you get a craving in between them, reach for something else: fuit perhaps, nuts, a cereal bar. I never eat chocolate in between my allotted times; and if I want to snack, I'll opt for something else. Sometimes chocolate isn't right; it's not really a food as such in the long run really.

Sorry: I meant fruit, not fuit!

I also can't stop myself indulging with chocolates whenever we have them in the house. The only way that I could control myself and my children, is to not to stock up on chocolates. Because we have them in the house, each one of us won't just stop and even if we are full, we still keep on sneaking a taste until we eat them all. There was a time that my husband came back from abroad and he bought plenty of chocolates, oh boy! i almost hoarded them all just for myself. He he he! Good thing that my family knew about it that they just got half of it.

Well, everything that you take in too much of is bad. Although dark chocolate is very good for the body, still -you shouldn't eat it all of the time. You are right to control you eating. Mind over matter or food. Just don't buy chocolates all the time, maybe just once or twice a month to keep away from temptation.

I used to love chocolate a lot during my schooling time, and I will take a least one bar of chocolate everyday. Just like you, I love the taste of the chocolate, I like the feeling when it melted in my mouth. I do not think that taking chocolate will have much problem, as long as you like it, you can just take it, according to research, it help in avoid heart diseases, so, it is a good food. Many people do not like chocolate because they scare of the high calories. But if you just consume a tiny bar away, how much fat or weight will you gain? So, do enjoy chocolate. I love Chocolate!

Considering all that you've said, I think you can eat all the chocolate you want, everybody has a little addiction, and this is quite harmless - especially since you eat dark chocolate, which is the healthiest option. I imagine you don't eat nothing but chocolate every day, so as long as the rest of your diet is healthy, you should be fine. If it really bothers you, I guess you could write down how much you eat, every day, and then try to cut down from one week to another, by 5% each week (that's the method I heard is used for people who want to reduce something, but not quit completely).

I suppose that it's always easier to decrease the amount of something you have little by little rather than radically, so it is a good advice to take. Thanks.

I think dark chocolates are good for the body. But too much of everything is bad too. Try to control your sweet intake as it might lead to certain diseases like diabetes. If you really cant control your chocolate craving, try buying chocolates w/ low sweeteners and try to eat healthier stuff. You'll get over it eventually :)

well I normally eat 70% pure dark chocolate, so let's say that the amount of sugar and other sweeteners is smaller than in sweeter options like milked chocolate. Thank you.

I love chocolate too and I am very happy to report to you that a fella on TV just this morning was saying just how good for you chocolate is, so I say keep on eating it.... You have to have one vice in life and that is not a bad one to have...

hehe, well I'm very glad that you feel so optimistic about this. I just want to eat a little bit less of chocolate, not to stop eating it. But i will try to change my perspective towards this anyway. Thank you.

I have a weakness for chocolate and have moments when I think I can't go one more second unless I have some..lol..I never deny myself I don't have it everyday but those moments..goodness..I just have too. I think that anything is ok in moderation and sometimes it's even ok in excess as long as its not excess all the time. I might ween myself away if i thought I had a problem..just a little less everyday.

anything is good in the right amount. It will be bad if you will take too much. I also like chocolate. I ate occasionally but not all the time.

Dark chocolates are said to be good for the heart. Though, we have to eat it in moderation and down it with lots of water afterward, or we might get diabetes! Like you i like chocolates so much too. Specially Cadbury - Milk Chocolates with Hazelnuts! Yummy! I like it when it crunches in my mouth and the chocolates melts in it also.
