Wow, congratulations! I would suggest that you buy baby stuff when your wife's already 7months along the way or as soon as you already know the gender of your baby, this way, you'll be able to choose the best color that would fit him/her and if it is a boy, better buy a sturdy one. Boys can be naughty, even when they are still babies, lol!

I don't know but we bought crib when our baby had arrived. Buying it too early may be more of disadvantage. Wait until the baby has arrive so that you can buy and choose one that best suits your baby's need. I can see how excited you are as a first time Dad, but excitement can put you in too in a hurry and this may result in waste. There's so much time to spend shopping and choosing what's best, so take your time and enjoy the thrill of the thought of becoming a father!

I think that the right time to buy a crib is when your wife reaches 32 weeks pregnancy. If would be helpful for you and your wife to know the gender of your baby. Baby bedding comes in pink, blue, green, yellow and white. I had my baby is a moses basket and then moved her into a cot. I know a lady that had her baby at 34 weeks pregnancy and she hadn't yet bought anything for her baby. She was expecting him to be born at 40 weeks but he had other ideas. He was perfectly healthy so he didn't need to go into the premature baby care. Then her husband had to rush out and buy lots of baby equipment.

I think wait until a couple of months before the baby is born :)
