Ever had one (or even two) of those days?

Life, the Internet and Helium are conspiring against me to thwart my ambition to become one of the most read and best paid writers on the Web. No, this is not paranoia induced by drinking too much vodka. In fact, you can never have too much vodka, but I digress. Wednesday was a good writing day. I wrote 3 articles to HMP and earned $18 from upfronts and transitions, as well as a boost in page views due to several of my articles featuring on channel Front Pages. Thursday was not so good. The engineers were working to improve our Internet connection speed, and the service was sporadic all day. I only managed to research and write one article, but again, it was a high paying title, so I wasn't too worried, and I caught up on some other sites I'd been neglecting. Today, (Friday) I got up to find that yesterday's single article had earned $8 for me, but more importantly, my Internet connection was the fastest it's been in months. I found a nice $8 title to write to in HMP, and all was well with my world. Until I tried to post the finished article, when I discovered that Helium was down for maintenance. I couldn't even get into HMP to find a title I could write to while I was waiting for Helium to be back in full swing. That was around three hours ago, and the site is still down. 'Never mind,' I thought, 'I can access the site on read-only mode, so perhaps I can find a non-HMP title I can write to while I wait.' Only I can't, because all I can get is the Front Page and Help Pages. I've kept the whole day clear for writing, and I have a pulled calf muscle, which means I can sit at the computer all day without feeling guilty about other tasks I'm neglecting. Everything seems to be against me. Have you ever had one - or more - of those days? And did you make up for the lost time? I'm hoping I can, as it's a shorter month this month, and I'm already behind with my writing because of Internet problems.

Why am I even dignifying this with a response? No, Pikey, in this instance, HMP is Helium Markeptplace. Just goes to show the truth of the matter. All men are insane, and you are one of the best - or worse, depending on the parameters - examples.

You are dignifying it because you know that I love you....... and that I am insane!

I really dislike it when a site goes down for maintenance, just when I have dedicated some time just for it. I really do not get to do that often. Hubby is at home, it just gets in the way of things to have him always here. I was moving right along on Gather one night and it went to maintenance. I think life gets in the way of my writing.

O don't do that, you may strain something. I am just letting my mind be too distracted by things, and I know it.

You too, GG? It strikes me that there is an evil plan afoot to stop us writing when we feel the need. My husband is at home all the time as well, but he's happy to potter in his workshop while I get on with my writing. I'm lucky because I can tune out to what's going on around me and concentrate on my writing, so if he's watching TV and I don't want to, I can get on with some writing. Today will now be my designated writing day - if Helium and my Internet service provider co-operate. If not, I might just heave the computer over the balcony and have done with it.

As of right now, I can find the non-HMP articles that I can write to and that is starting to look like what I might have to do for right now because I'm getting an internal HTTP error on the marketplace. This really stinks in my opinion because like you I had set aside a lot of time today to write. I would really like to start building more. For me, I suppose this is my message that I need to start working on getting some writing stars instead of dwelling in the marketplace.

Wait, now it is back for me so I can write the article that I was planning on first before working on those stars.

Hello, Dorannmwin. I've just managed to post the article I wrote this morning. I did it by going through the channels on MP rather than just the straight link. The new interface looks much more efficient and user friendly, but it would have been nice to have had some warning about it. Surely a major upgrade like this merits an email to all users?

I guess that means a must required rest day for you. Be grateful that you have the opportunity, and write on the next day... ^^

Hello, Aleic. I don't think of my writing as work, though, even though it's how I earn my living. I love writing, and there's nothing more frustrating than wanting to get on with some writing and not being able to.
