Has television been damaged or enhanced by the 21st century? Do you miss the golden age of tv? Are you a fan of the 90's? Or do you prefer current tv?

Television certainly is not what it used to be. Then again, there are many things that were not what they used to be. That is included but not limited to books, magazines, newspapers, radios, communicating with people face to face. The Internet has changed the world for better of for worse. And television did itself no favors by the lack of quality that it puts out. One of the things that I find interesting is that there are countless channels but it is hard to find programs that I would really enjoy. And when there were only about twenty five or thirty channels, there were many things that I liked. Perhaps it is my tastes changing when I get older or perhaps it is a generation gap that seems to hit a wall when you get past teenage years this years. Plus with the Internet and YouTube, there are other avenues.

That's an interesting point: we have more variety these days, but with that variety, there is still very little I am interested in watching. People love to have choices though!

I think this "reality" TV craze is damaging to the intelligence of the race but beyond that.... As far as scripted, fiction television shows, I don't really think they were better or worse in earlier years. I think there were really good shows on in the 90's...80's, 70's, etc...But there was also some pretty big stinkers, just as there are today. There has been a big push in the past couple of years toward remaking old series or series from other countries... The Office, Hawaii Five-O, Skins, Charlie's Angels ... and I'm not sure if that's for good or for bad. I don't like the American remakes of the British shows but the new H5.0 is good. *shrug* Not really any better or worse, just more of the same.

I personally don't feel television has been damaged in the 21st century.I watch better programs giving better knowledge, information and entertainment.I love watching channels like history, national geographic, discovery, several wonderful news and current affairs channels.I get opportunity to watch excellent movies on channels like Turner classic movies and other similar ones.We get the latest on sports channels.I can't think of anything better on television than this.I liked TV in the nineties but i like even more the TV programs in the present day.

Some of the most interesting television I have seen has come in this century. I would say that it is like any other era of television. Television continues to evolve.

I think a better question is whether television has damaged or enhanced us as people in this place of time. I really like things that are going on right now in the present. Things just keep getting more and more advanced. It feels so good to be on the leading edge of technology.
