Even the Japanese people think Anime is dying

I think 15 years ago anime dominated, It killed the American Cartoons, It even became its own category and Anime fans dont want anime to be called cartoons because it has continuity, mature and better storyline. I just read an article saying even the Japanese thinks anime is now dying. We can see American cartoons are gaining popularity again. Its kinda sad that American cartoons is defeating anime because Anime has more to offer, there is an anime for all age groups while most cartoons targets kids. After Naruto I cant like any new anime series, The stories are not as dynamic as the ones I watched in the 90's and early 2000's. Less anime now is aired on Tv because they were more violent now and the DVD's got lower sales due to piracy while American cartoons received more Tv air time. there is already a historic drop to manga and anime sales and they said its getting bigger. Most new anime i see are either Dragonball clones or Sailormoon clones. The only Anime I saw in the local television of my country are re-runs of old ones and some clones of older series.

I think you have a point as I even noticed that more people were into anime previous years ago but like hushi said its prolly because of all these new reality shows and junk.I would think anime is still popular in Japan at least.

I see i dont know but I always thought alittle violence made a show alot better. ^_^ but thats just my opinion. Cartoons are fine..but anime is way better and tends to be more creative.

I dont really blame reality shows for the fall of anime, I blame Cartoons more since it was able to make a comeback after being defeated by anime and Tv networks started to favor cartoons because they were less violent.

you know the censors have issue with them because they think it pollutes the innocence of children... which is BS for me because I watched the goriest stuff as a child and I never killed a single person.

wah no way i'm in a house of eight and we still have kids in our house so i watch some cartoon with them. and honestly (my own opinion) i think that it is very horrible. How can people choose american cartoon to japan anime? That's just to sad. Also anime being too violent is kinda obvious since most are for teens!! T-E-E-N-S!!! So of course most isn't for kids, and of dragonball can still be air than so should a lot of other.

I know its sad that most kids are talking about Ben 10 and not some new anime title. I think some teens still like anime but I dont know any new anime right now that teens like. Japanese companies should stop making Hentai and start doing quality anime again. i think many peopel got turned off with anime because of Hentai,

Totaly agree, now there is much more hentai series than anime, but still there are pretty good new animes. For example Fairy Tales, Bleach (Not so new), Infinite Stratos, etc... In my case i like more reading manga, cuz its the original story without fillers =P

hentai really leaved some bad taste to people's mouth that I think I knew a lot of people who were disgusted to anime as a whole because of Hentai,. because of the Hentai and Loli reputation, people are not resorting to American Cartoons.

I haven't seen any new anime i like either.. I notice that cartoons are becoming more and more dominant these days, even I watch them more now. I sure hope there will be new and better animes to see so I won't keep on watching cartoons, there are also lessons we can get from cartoons though.

The problem is that it's hard to get anime on TV, even Cable because it costs a lot to put it on TV, so they have to put on the stuff that is most likely to get attention and sell. And stop knocking Ben 10, it's a good series. But the thing about Ben 10 is that it's owned by Cartoon Network, who has the money to put it on TV all the time. Anime companies do not have the money to put stuff on TV all the time. And I haven't seen an anime childrens program come out that got licensed in the States recently. I would love it if they put Heroman on TV because it would give Ben 10 a run for it's money.

you are correct captalbert! right now i don't see a lot of new anime being shown on tv anymore and it makes me sad. When we were young there were a lot of anime movies and even though they were quite bloody, it was okay for us since we understand they are only shows. I still enjoy re runs of the yu yu hakusho until now.
