Rabbit - Carrot and Water Spinach

All the while, we feed rabbit with carrots and most of the vegetables.
In the cartoon films, rabbit likes to eat carrots.
This is the impression to most of the children.
Unluckily, I were shocked after reading an article about the rabbits.
Rabbit does not suitable to eat carrot because it contains high calories and high percentage of water.
Besides, rabbit does not suitable to eat water spinach which can cause the sickness of diarrhea and the possibility of failing the kidneys.
As such, the life of the rabbit will be threatened.
Without eating these two type of vegetables, what will be the most suitable fresh foods for the rabbit to grow healthily?

Thank you so much for sharing the information.
In fact,. the rabbit is a very cute and soft animal.
I like it very much since I was a boy.
I kept rabbit as my pet.
But some people fed the rabbits to collect their meat and fur.
For Chinese, this year is the year of Rabbit.
There were so many articles about rabbit in the newspaper.
In China, the workers electrocuted the rabbits to make them fainted.
Later, all of the rabbits were hung by holding one of their rear legs up and started to collect their fur.
Some of the rabbits had become conscious again during the process in collecting their fur.
Do you think these workers were abusing the rabbits during the process in collecting the rabbit's fur?
It is really cruel to such cute animal.

yes the workers ere cruel and here in canada they would go to jail for doing that as they should any were causing any pain to an animal should have a person put in jail adn ban them from EVER owning an animal or being near an animal

We all actually have got the wrong information from the old folks or tales where we all are told that rabbit like to eat carrot. But the truth is rabbit actually do not like carrot and rabbit eye is red not because of they eat a lot of carrot. And the information from the cartoon is actually misleading everybody.
The most suitable foods for rabbit will be like Grass (Should be moist or green),
Hay which is the best for rabbits, dried Fruit and many more. One things to remind you is that rabbit don't drink water, they will get diarrhea if they consume too much of water.

Rabbit is not supposed to drink water.
It is something new to me because most of the animals will feel thirsty and they need water to survive.
Because of the advance of the technology and mylot, I understand the mistake I did when I were a boy.
My rabbits never lived for long.

rabbits require fresh water daily!!!!! you do not give your rabbit water it WILL die alla rabbit needs to survive is WATER!!! and timothy Hay NOT alfalfa hay as this is to high in protein for an adult rabbits 75% of diet should be made up of timothy hay 15% should be pellets and 10% should be fresh vegetables AND ALWAYS FRESH CLEAN WATER!!!!
do not ever buy green hay for your rabbits it should be dried and brown green hay is preserved with chemicals! and grass is not a suitable diet for any rabbit

yup, i used to rear rabbit , but i feed them with the rabbit feeds from the pet shop with contain nuts,seeds and dry grasses. Once awhile i give them carrot and lefy vegetable.No wonder they die early also.Haha..I guess tv cartoon show them eating carrot because of their 2 front teeth to encourage children to eat vegetable i guess.Neverthess, they are not wasted i feed them later to my pet python.

hey there.
this is very informative since I primarily feed my rabbits with carrots but never with spinach. i should have known this for a long time. oh how poor my rabbits could get if i feed them more with carrots further. i usually feed them with fresh lettuce and cabbage leaf too. I feed them with clean water and change it frequently in a day to avoid acquiring some unwanted disease they could get. thank you for sharing this idea!

never feed your rabbits cabbage. cabbage produces to much gas inside the rabbits causing there stomachs to bloat and twist which is an extremely painful way to die!!!
3-4 leaves of lettuce is ok but not large amounts they need lots of Hay in their diets they should mostly be fed hay
