Ryan Ten Doeschate.... The Performer...!!!!

Nether land's first match in the world cup, and they ended up scoring 292. Not a bad performance. But this was largely due to Ryan Ten Doeschate's century and England's fielding or lack of fielding...!!!! (:P). Doeschate was calmness personified during his innings of 119. He did survive a chance of the bowling of Swann. His dismissal was largely due to cramps. He bowled well too. Had he been in any other team, he would have been a much bigger star or an all rounder. The important feature of his innings was that, there were not too many boundaries hit. Yet he maintained a strike rate of more than run a ball. He was much talked about before the match began and he did not disappoint. Well Played Doeschate..!! England was lucky to win this match. Had it been any other experienced team, they would have ended up schasing around 350 or even more. Lucky that the Dutch team lacked experience. Their England bowling looked depleted and the fielding... Well let's not talk about it. Because there was nothing to talk about. England's batting was more experienced, so they were able to see through the match. The Dutch team in the end could not prevent the singles so they lost. Had they attacked more, may be they would have been in with a chance or may be they would have lost the match a little earlier. Since winning the Ashes, the England team has looked a bit out of sorts. I hope that they learn their lesson from this match; thank their stars, because they managed to win and, play well in the future...!!!! Share your views....!!!! Balu

I think they batted very well. Ten Doeschate impressed not only with his batting, but also with his bowling. Of course, he was helped on his way by some real poor fielding by England. But even then for a associate nation it was a brilliant performance. But, the dutch were let down by their naivity and lost the match pretty convincingly. Cheers! Ram

Yes, Ryan Ten Doeschate played extremely well and this brilliant performance has compelled Shahrukh Khan to take him into his team. Netherland has shown their strength against England. But ICC has decided for a 10-team World Cup 2015, which is very disappointing for cricket fans. You are very correct in pointing out that in this match, England lagged far behind in their fielding, bowling, and batting. They could have win the game very easily, but they lack consistency in their performance. Associates teams are gaining experience after playing with big teams like England, India, etc. After this stunning century Ryan Ten Doeschate has come into limelight. Really, he played extremely well.

I will not agree, that England would have lost the match. No doubt, they were lack lustre in the field, but they made it up by their batting. England never looked like loosing the match at any given time. coming to Ten Doeschate, I feel he is going to be the star in the IPL, this year, India should also be careful, when playing against the Dutch team, they are no pushovers.

With KP and Prior not in full form, and without Morgan, England are short of a lot of fire power. They have only 1 good bowler now as well, Anderson went for 7 runs an over and broad over 5.5 runs an over!! and they are Englands best bowlers. As for Netherlands, if they had Dirk Nannes and a few other good bowlers besides Doschate they would make it very far in this world cup, and would have won yesterdays game.

Hi balu yeah you are right that the England team are deficient in quite a few departments of the game. The Netherlands strength lies in their batting and the bowling department is a bit weak. However, the English cricketers held their nerves and managed to get past the finishing line. However the maximum that this English team can do is to reach the quarter final stage and nothing more. One can't expect anything huge from them.
