Time to stock up!

Proctor & Gamble have announced that they are raising prices. They are not saying how much. They said their costs will raise 1 billion this year. They also said some of it has to do with what is going on in the Middle East. I just read this on Yahoo's Finance page. I will be using all the coupons I can and hitting sales to stock up. I don't know how people are going to make it with prices rising like they are. Will you try to get some things before they do?

All of the products that we need and use on a daily basis seem to be going up. There is always a reason for it but not a reason we want to accept. I guess it's time to look for those sales that will help us take advantage of what might be coming next for consumers.

It always trickles down to the consumers. If the price of gas stays up, I can see another crash coming. Businesses are not going to be able to survive either.

It's a shame! People are out of work and can't afford to do anything anymore. Gas prices here where I am I noticed the other day were at $3.11. The cheapest place in town was at $2.99. Utilities are outrageous! Unemployment is soaring! Food prices have been out of control for a long time. Something has to give. These large corporations need to stop worrying about how much money they line THEIR pockets with and start worrying about helping the citizens obtain jobs in order to buy their products. Of course I stopped using anything associated with Proctor and Gamble...MANY MANY years ago.

Yeah, P&G has never had much of a track record.

At first, I thought not because I don't use a lot of their things. Like others, I clean with natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda, etc., and I use cloth napkins, cloth rags for cleaning up and so on. BUT... I went looking for a list of P&G products and they make my favorite liquid dish washing soap as well as Tide, which is still the best laundry detergent. Although I make my laundry detergent or use plain washing soda sometimes, when the laundry needs something extra, I use Tide. I guess that means that I'll be stocking up a little, anyway. I can buy Dawn dish soap at Big Lots here for $2, so I'll get some more of that. If prices keep going up, I don't know what we'll do.

I elevated my stocking up when the trouble first started in Tunisia because I figured it would spread and prices would go up even higher. I don't use many P&G products. A roll of paper towels lasts a year in my house because I use washable rags and towels. I don't use special cleaning stuff, just vinegar and bleach. I try to use as few commercial things as possible because I'm a cheapskate and also I don't want to be dependent on them. I do need to get more toilet paper, though. I only have 20 packages stored up because I haven't bought extra for awhile. Think about it--it's one of the few things nobody wants to be without!

I have stocked up, but I think I will do more, most of what I stocked up on was canned foods and things that I can freeze.

With the cost of energy and the possibility of rolling blackouts in the future, I've abandoned the idea of stocking up on frozen goods. I may not be able to pay for electricity, it's not inconceivable. I go for canned goods, TP and dried goods like fruits and dry beans and flour. I recently began baking my own bread, too--yummy!

I have actually been stocking up for the last month because my husband is going to be losing his job soon, so I wanted to make sure we have a lot of the stuff that we use on a regular basis. I went to the grocery store the other day and there were already some things where the prices were just completely shameful. Needless to say I walked out of the store with out buying those things.

I am making my menus according to sales and coupons now. I will pick up things that are on sale, like shampoo and toilet paper and things more now if they are a decent deal.

i DON'T KNOW WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO EITHER. Yes, i probably will stock up some more even tho i stay pretty stocked up as it is.Gas has gone up to $3.24 a gallon in my town today. They will use any excuse they can to raise priced on anything. It's pretty disgusting to me.

The cost of consumer goods keep raising and the conflicts in the Middle East is making it worse. We would all have to live with the ever increasing prices as there seem to have no end to the conflicts in those troubled lands. I don't think I would want to bring the supermarket stocks to my house but would try to tighten up my belt so expenditure is kept to the minimal.

LOL, I think I already have a lifetime supply of "stuff." I need to start using some of it up, and stop inflation buying. But it is nice to just go into the garage and find stuff instead of having to shop all the time.

Oh, that can't be true! If you ask our wonderful () government, they have said, for the third straight year in a row, that there has been NO increase in the cost of living to justify any cost-of-living raise in Social Security payments. We all know how honest our government is, right? Prices are going up all over the place (except in our disability payments thanks to the government). I'm constantly learning new ways to cut down on expenses and how to reuse everything I possibly can. I'm growing even more fruits and vegetables this year to freeze, can and dry to, hopefully, not have to buy them for the next year, then grow more to freeze, can and dry. I'm even starting to look around this area to see if anyone would be willing to barter with me; my fruits and veggies for their eggs and meat. As for Proctor & Gamble, I'll have to try to replace anything I might buy of theirs with another manufacturer, one that is cheaper or who isn't raising their prices quite as much. I've already found one way to cut down expenses in the kitchen: baking soda. I use that on my glass stovetop to clean it because it does just as good a job as the stuff made just for these stovetops and it's a LOT cheaper! I'm so proud of myself for discovering this use of baking soda all by myself. LOL

Yes, the government thinks things are getting right back on track. Prices are going higher than paychecks will stretch.

Yes, I think it's a great idea to stock up. I think everybody is going to be raising their prices because of the cost of oil. I wish we weren't so reliant on oil in this country. I've really started using coupons a lot lately. I've saved a lot of money. I wish I had started doing that sooner.

I do too. I have used them for a while. I watch the sales, and the coupons, and that is how I plan my menus. If I don't need something right then, but can get it for free or a few cents, I will get it anyway. If it is something I can get for free, but don't or won't use, I get it anyway, and donate it to someone that can.

I wasn't even aware until now that they were raising prices! Oh dear, but naw I won't stock up, i'll just look for more coupons and continue to buy a product whenever i need it. Yeah, thats how life goes movies were 5 cent at one point now they're 15.00 a ticket we'll live. eh well.

That is not a good thing. I also have to stock up before they raise their prices. I also have to make good use of my coupons.

I always try my best to be a host of life and not to be a slave of life.So I work hard in one side and live a simple life in the other side.At anytime I work hard to keep my heart in calm and let my extra desires down. All those make me can live with no pression. So I needn't to care aboue the price raising or felling.Because I just need to buy very little thing for my life to my buying power.Mostly if you dance with Proctor&Gamble you would lose more money than save. They are always looking your pocket for you money and using every probable chances to make you nervous.

Rob- I can't think of anything I will "stock piling" at this moment in time. I tend to buy that sort of thing when I need them. I did just recently stock the second freezer with meat but that is so I don't have to worry about going shopping for things except fresh fruits and veggies. It just keeps my life simple more than anything. Namaste-Anora

I just bought up on shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste, but that is what I normally do. I buy a lot when I have coupons and find good sales.
