Have you ever purchased anything on line?

I haven't...at least, not yet. I'm leery about passing on personal banking information and the like. I'm just not convinced that it's safe enough. But...if I WERE to purchase anything on line...I believe that PayPal would be the safer choice. How about you? cdrxo

I haven't as yet but. I agree with you about giving out personal information. I not to keen on that ...But I think you're right about Pay Pal would be my first choice I go with. You always said to me to be very careful about what is on there plus I always like to see what I buy and check it out first and see if it's what I like. cd

Well, you know that you just didn't hear it from me...Leo Laporte, Andy Walker, and Amber MacArthur each, have also mentioned how easy it is these days to be hacked when we least expect it. Remember, when we're on the internet, we ARE broadcasting, none the less. Sure there are several things we can do to protect ourselves, what with anvti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware, firewalls, etc. But the best by far (to date) is still a reasonably priced router, and passwords that include numbers as well as characters. But the real truth is...there is always somebody out there who will try their best to "beat the system". WE are our own best self-defense, and a little common sense goes a long, long way. cdrxo

I have purchased books, CD:s, DVD and herbs online from reliable companies, where you can make a choice. You can pay with your bank card or by an invoice. On Amazon where there are many companies connected, I purchase items. It has worked well. I've also paid by paypal, which worked well. It happens that there are things I would like and even need which is cheaper in another country. Therefore it is very convenient with paypal and amazon. Hope you will have good experience when you will try online shopping.

I'm glad you had such great success. Now, other countries? Heck, I can't seem to get passed making purchases online from my own country, never mind from around the globe. That one would REALLY have to grow on me, before I'd go ahead with it. ;-) cdrxo

I live in Sweden. It happens I want something that is not avaiable in my own country or it is cheaper to purchase online from the U.K or the USA, then I'll do it. Especially when I want books and DVD in English.

Like you I haven't purchased anything online and like you I'm skeptical about sharing those information. Again, like you believe that if I were to do online purchases Paypal is the safer way to do that. Alertpay, I think, is also reliable cause I haven't heard any bad feedback about it either.

I haven't heard of Alertpay. Is it similar to PayPal? cdrxo

AlertPay or Paypal are similar to each other. I've seen that many new comanies use AlertPay. I still hope companies online would offer you to have the free will to make a choice from AlertPay or Paypal.

Yeah, I'm with you. Somebody would have to make it very convincing to me. I'd most likely get one of my friends to use their account to make the purchase for me. If all went well, then M A Y B E I'd try it out, by using my own. cdrxo

I did that too. I was looking for some stuff online and asked for my friend's opinion and he volunteered that he would help me to make the purchase. And then I found it real convenient!!

I have made many purchases online. Everything seemed to arrive rather safely and there were no problems. Then again, I could be rather fortunate. I think that its really all down to what you want to do. If you want to take that small chance that something may happen, that you might get some personal information stolen. Secure, trusted websites are the way to go a lot of the time but it is no means foolproof. I do tend to do a lot of my transactions through Paypal when it is allowed to do so too. Most likely because I'd like to bypass the middle man of the Postal Service when getting the bill here and making sure the payment arrives on time. That way, if I have the money, then its in my Paypal. If not, guess I don't really need that right now.

I wouldn't order merchandise from anything other than a "trusted" website. You got that right! But as you say, nothing is ever fool-proof. However, I'm glad that you've been able to receive items without any hassles. cdrxo

I have not purchased anything online. I'm too afraid to put my account number online because it might get hacked. Hackers are all over the internet nowadays that it is starting to dawn on me the no one is safe online.

Quite true I would imagine. Actually...I've had computer experts tell me that, WiFi systems are probably the easiest to breach, simply because of the way it broadcasts. So, even IF you ever do decide to purchase anything on line, just remember you're probably safer using cable. cdrxo

I do make purchases online, and i prefer to use my paypal account for purchases, and if the company does not offer paypal as a payment option, well, i have a paypal credit/debit card that is for that account and i can use it just like any other mastercard, except the money will come from my paypal. Very rarely do i use my actual bank card for purchases online, unless the company i am purchasing from is very reputable business.

That makes a lot of sense, and is really good advice for anyone out there. Only purchase items from companies you know who have a well established name and track record...and only go with those whom you TRUST. Yup. I've heard this too many times. You're probably quite right, but I'm still a bit leery. I don't know; guess it's just me? cdrxo

I have used Paypal and ALertpay in purchasing upgrades online. So far, it's good. My money is safely sent to whomever r whichever site I send it and I receive money too. Although, I do get a bit worried at times because of hackers and the like.
