If your work told you that you had to move to a different country or lose your job, would you do it? For this scenario lets say that it was a country with a very different culture.

The answer to your question, Ladym, is a simple YES. To be able to live in a different country, experiencing a different culture, language, food, etc. Would be great and to think that you would be getting paid for it even better. If you had moved under orders from your employers, they would more than likely ensure your safety and security. If you ended up in a country that under went a revolution (like, Libya) Hopefully, the company you were working for would have a contingency plan and be able to fly you out. In any case it sure would be an experience and an adventure just living a different lifestyle and re-adapting.

Sometimes, it isn't easy just up-rooting ones life and leaving family and friends behind for pastures new. Especially if the new country isn't as advanced as the one yu are leaving. We all get used to our mod cons and labour saving devices, so to be faced without these home comforts and loved ones around us for support it isn't easy just to pack up and go abroad to the unknown.

I honestly don't think I could do it. My hubby and I had to move to a different state for his job and while we're still within driving distance to our families, I hate being far away. I think being in another country would be really tough! Luckily I don't think we'll ever have to go out of the U.S. for his job or mine! :-)

Hi ladym33, if it's my ideal job which I really enjoy when working, surely I will move to a different country for I don't want to lose it. this will happen only before my marriage or after my kid has grown up and can stand on his own legs. I don't mind how great the differences of culture I have to face for I have great interest to experience different lifestyle in foreign country. It's also a good opportunity to learn new knowledge as well as to meet many people away from my place. I like to make friends from different places. I believe the company will pay all the expenses as well. So I don't have to worry about money matter. It's a good chance as well to visit the adjacent countries whenever I have holidays Happy posting

It depends on my family situation and how much I liked the job. I think it might be an amazing experience to live in another country for a little while. The company would have to pay for my whole family to move and live there (if they wanted to go). It would be a big decision. I would have to discuss it with everyone and see how they felt. I couldn't just make the decision without discussing it with my family first.

For a single lass like me, It would be easier for me to say yes, Why? because that would be challenging. I will learn new things, new culture and I would gain new friends. But of course if it's in a not so peaceful country, that would be another story. ;)

I think it would depend on whether it was temporary or permanent. I think temporarily it would be a grand adventure.

My answer is no. I've had opportunity to move away for different reasons, but I can't bear the thought of leaving family behind. Actually I did move to another state fora couple years when my husband at the time got a job there. I hated it, and would even call my dad in the middle of the night when I heard a noise like he was going to drive 4 hours to check it out. I was fortunate that my parents had the financial ability to come and stay the weekend once a month. Marsha

I have not lived in any foreign country so far, but I have traveled to a number of countries in different parts of the world on business trips. I very much enjoyed meeting and working with people in foreign countries. If I am required to relocate to a foreign country, I don't think I will have any problem. That would be an exciting part of the job !

It would have to depend on a few factors for me as with my children being here, if the job was going to compensate me well and what type of security can I expect with the move. As life is so short and we simply do not have any guarantees with jobs any more so to uproot my life I would have to benefit quite nicely for me to agree.

It depends if they give me time to bring in my family because they're all I have right now. I could adapt to different cultures just to get the job but I don't think I can endure years without holding and seeing my wife and my daughter.
