Hi joro, Yes it is invented in India. Still you can find the crude form of chess in many a villages in India. It was the royal game usually played during the era of the Gupta dynasty. The best part of the game is speculating what your opponents next move might be and sometimes luring him into a false move.

My Father taught me how to play chess. He passed away 22 years ago...I miss him very much. I do not know anyone now who know how to play chess. It is a shame too because I have a really cool star wars chess set that I would like to try out. I have no one to share it with. It has been so long since I have played that anyone could beat me now...lol

Hi adoniah! Sorry for your father.. But about the game - how couldn't you find anyone for chess ? If you can't then teach people.I've showed this game to about 20 friends and they all became maniacs. One of them is a girl and she became better than me - she beat me 4 times and counting wow.Where did you get the star wars chess set ? I have only classic chess that i bought from the "1 euro shop".Sounds great. Hope you find or teach people to play chess. This is one of the greatest games created ever. -Joro

I have one of the Star Wars chess sets, too. I don't remeber which one, though. It's packed away somewhere and I haven't touched it in a while. I also have a Coca-Cola chess set and a 3D chess set. It's also been a long time since I've played. I doubt I would be much of a challenge to anyone.

I've played chess some. I used the game site I play on to learn. It only lets you move the pieces the way they are supposed to go, so I learned which way they were supposed to go. I'm okay at it I guess. I don't win very often. I've been told when playing checkers that I should play more chess. But when playing chess I'm not thinking far enough ahead in my moves to trap the person and I don't know all the special named moves.

Hello Joro. Yes, I used to play chess before, when I had the time for games. I like playing chess very much. In fact, I was pretty addicted to the game, very brain boggling. I also watched the world championship games, and find them so exciting too. I still like to play chess whenever I have the time for it. It is very good that you are playing the game.

I love to play chess actually, but I don't know anyone else here who really knows how to play. I have one friend here that said he was learning, so we played two games, and I beat him both times. He doesn't lose very well, so he hasn't played with me again since that night. LOL

Chess is such a special game to me. I can't really recall how I started to learn it, but it must have either been my parents (because we have a gigantic chess set at home) or my friends in school. It was a game I really liked because a player really has to strategize and plan each and every move carefully, and it really sharpens one thinking and planning skills. There are also many elements about the game to think about including attack, defense, opening, midgame, endgame etc. I remember back in secondary school when I actually got selected to represent the school to the state level chess competition after rounds or tryouts and playoffs done in school. I didn't do too badly in the state competition, but it was a great experience and made many new friends as well. I also learnt that there are some special moves in chess too, like en passant. Not many people know this special move and when I tell them about the move when a game is in progress, most people think I'm pulling their leg! Anyway, I don't play chess much now but I still play it occasionally online on my laptop.

Hi. joro1best. I have never played chess before. I have seen my Pastor and this man, that attended the church that I went to, play it. I could never understand how they played this game. I know that it took a lot of concentration. One, that I don't think that I could attain for this game. I am glad that you are having fun playing chess with your friends and parents. I hope that you will enjoy playing chess!

I like playing chess. It's one of my favorite way to relax and use my mind. Or better: to train my mind. I learned to play chess when I was little, maybe 5-6 years old, from my parents who were always playing chess when they had free time. First of all they were learning me the rules, the basic ones, and then, when I grow a little more they started to play with me, really play. It was nice that in that period in Romania was a TV show about chess every Sunday morning and you can imagine that I was always in front of the TV. Now I like to play chess on my computer and on my cell phone. I even bought a game for my mobile phone so I can increase the level of the computer (AI) so I can enjoy even better this game.

I haven't played chess in a long, long time. I learned how when I was a kid. Don't remember how old. My father taught me. He would beat me every time until one day I finally beat him and we never played again. I've played a few friends, or classmates or co-workers over the years but mostly I played against electronic or computer chess games because I usually couldn't find anyone to play. I think a lot of people don't like playing games that are that mentally challenging. I eventually bought a 3D chess set and convinced a couple of people to give it a try but I haven't used it any more than that. 3D chess is really cool and it kicks the regular game up a couple of nothces. I'm sure one of these days I'll get the urge to play again and dig out one of my old electronic games or play on the computer. I've always liked strategy games and none are better than chess.

I play with my brother occasionally, he has a beautiful blue and white carved wood and velvet chess set and i enjoy playing partly just to appreciate the board :P He's a lot better than me though so i tend to get humiliated when ever we play together. I also have a DS game which allows me to play chess anywhere which helps me improve my game. I can't remember the first time i played, i must have been too young to recall but i do remember playing with a giant set in primary school when i must have been around eight or nine and getting fristrated with other kids when they didn't understand the rules. YEs, I play chess too. I love this game since it requires deep thinking and it is fun at the same time, especially if you play this with friends. I had a chess game in my phone before too . I can't play it that much though since no on my family loves it.

I started playing chess since i was a kid i forgot the exact age though to be honest. Perhaps when i was 8 or 9 years old. My dad taught me how to play chess. I usually play with my Dad or my sisters everyday. Now that we are grown ups we seldom play chess as we are far apart. I really miss those days when we'd gather our food for snacks in the table beside the chess board and start playing right away. Good old times.

I do like to play Chinese chess. In my boyhood I was a chess fan,may well say that I was so absorbed as to forget food and sleep.Although the Chinese chess just has 32 pieces but it is ever changing when you play on the board .I consider it to be a useful game of improving intelligence. However I have little time for playing it now.
