The price of a pug in india is about 25000rs.Why is it very costly when compared to other small breeds, say, pomeranian which costs just 750rs.Pomeranian is really cute dog but pug looks kinda ugly.I am not a pug hater but I wonder why would it cost 25 times more than a pomeranian!

In my home country some breeds of pedigree dog are more expensive than others. In 2004 I paid £395 for my male miniature poodle which I have called Secret. Then in 2006 I paid £450 for my miniature poodle which I have called Magic. I think it is unreasonable that a pug costs 25 times more than a pomerenian. I know it can be a case of some dogs breeds there are many of like West Highland terrier in my locality. Some dog breeds there are not many of. The more unusual the breed the higher the price is likely to be.

That's right.Importing of dogs were not allowed in my country and pomeranians were one of the few breeds available here. That might have made it dirt cheap!

I am also wondering why pugs cost more than pomeranian and shitzhu, wherein in the pug is not so cute and hard to maintain or take care of. We used to have a pug and it was problem taking care of it because it easily catches colds because of his flat nose and his big eyes always have eye infection and he sheds a lot not to mention that he must be given bath every other day because he easily smells bad when you did not give him bath often. The only thing I love with that pug is that he is so caring and he always want to lay down beside me when I am sitting on the couch and watching TV.

Hi, I think Pugs are cute. hahahah. You know, here in the Philippines, pugs are also super expensive and poms are equally expensive as pugs. also the prices here are depending on their line of champions. either if they came from a chamion line of pugs and poms. Also, I watched "Breed all about it" on animal planet few weeks ago and they featured the breed of pug. I think they originated in a country which they were companions of royal bloods, kings and queens. I can't remember the exact details of it. but pugs really came from a royal family of dogs says on that show. so maybe that's why the breed is super expensive. :)

If pomeranian is as expensive as a pug in philippines then i think you need to export pom from india.haha.Here you'll get a pom for just 10$

because pugs are really cute and they're really cool dogs to have around the house we have a 3 year old pug and he never fails to amuse us he sleeps with his head resting on our feet and he snores he wakes up at 8AM and wakes people up so that he can go out to do his "business" and then for the rest of the day he struts around as if he owned the place yeah he may be ugly but Lucky (that's his name) can melt anyone's heart with those big, big eyes

That's because Pomerians may be a common breed in your country, while Pugs are not. You know that the price is determined by market demand. If there are only a little Pug sellers, and a lot of people who want to buy such a dog, then the price will rise. On the contrary, if there are a lot of Pomerians puppies on the market and nobody wants to buy them, their price will go down.

You're right but i wonder why other high-demand having dogs like german shepherd ,labrador etc are a lot cheaper than pug.
