Did I do a bad thing?

I took my mom to this Vietnamese restaurant to try their noodle soup. I order two large size beef noodle soup, and also a spring roll appetizer. For the whole order, I only got 2 beef noodle soup, and I already ask the waiter who took our order about our appetizer, he keep on saying "it is coming, it's okay." Until we finished our noodle soup, we still didn't get our spring roll appetizer. When I came up to the cash register, I simply told the manager, I shouldn't be charged on the appetizer, because I never get it. From the look of the manager, he really p^ss off on that waiter I guess, and he kept on apologize on this mistake. I told him it was okay; don't worry about it. Probably that waiter might get in trouble I guess. Did I do a bad thing by reporting this. I simply don't want to pay something I don't get, this is all.

Hello king. You did the right thing. You ask for a spring roll with your soup. The waiter put it on your bill. He expected you to pay for it but did not serve the roll to you and so it was his own fault if he got in trouble. After all you reminded him several times. You should not have to pay for something you didn't get. If the manager was upset maybe this wasn't the first time this waiter did not bring all of an order. I hope you didn't leave that waiter a tip!

thanks for your comment. No, I didn't leave a dime on the table. I simply told the manager I am okay with it, but I just don't want to pay for something I don't have. I simply left the restaurant.

I don't think you did a wrong thing because your waiter did forget your order. I wouldn't want to pay for something that I did not receive.

no,definitely not your fault. i see you also belive you did the right thing. you feel bad,not because of the sense of guilt, but the regret that you didn't enjoy the meal and poor service affect not only your mood, but the waiter's working prospect.however one should be responsible for his own behavior. you need pay your foods that you indeed ate,he similarily should pay for his fault, even if a lapse

Hi, I do agree with your action, you are not doing wrong thing, If i were in your position, I would report to the manager during my meal. I won't wait till when I make the payment, then I make the report. It is because you already make an order for the appetizer and why they never come to you. If really out of stock, then the waiter should let you know in advance. It is the waiter responsibility to give a good service to the customers. By reporting this case to the restaurant manager, it will enhance a better service to their customers in future and the manager will be more firm in controlling the staffs.

You didn't do anything wrong. I stand there by you. If I were under your condition, I would have become very angry about the service of that restaurant. Some waiters should be taught by the customer if not the manager.

No, you did what was just right. Imagine having to pay for something that was ordered but wasn't given to you. Besides, the owner should be able to know the quality of performance their servers do.

I think you're right in your actions. But if we look in other site everyone can make a mistake. If you do not work you'll never make wrong act.I don't know its complicated sometimes the people react too strong to others being part of wound side as a material variant or as immaterial.I think that is just a situation and you reacted as your mood at this moments so we know that more of our acts are results of our inwardly feelings.I think that the waiter realy have been in confuse situation but in other side he never make his doing in the same way.

I think you did the right thing. The waiter should assume full responsibility for his mistake;if any of us do something wrong at work,we suffer the consequences,so why should his situation be different?I think this was a good lesson for that waiter and it helped him understand that he should do his best to please his customers.

You did the right thing in reporting the employee. It's a part of their continuous growing-up process to improve their customer service. Maybe the employee just had a bad and stressful day and mixed your orders with the other table. Either way, he should have been more careful in taking orders and paid attention to table numbers, if thats the case. I know it causes guilt because it would be pitiful to see an employee continuously apologizing, but its alright because reporting them is telling the management to improve their service to the customers.

What you did was right. There is nothing wrong with reporting such incident to make them aware of what needs to be improved in their services. :-)

You did nothing wrong. It's the waiter's duty to answer the custom's request correctly and quickly. What you did can help the restaurant to improve their service.

What you did was right. Yes- you'd expect a good service. When you order something, you'd expect to receive it. As for the waiter, maybe he just forgot. It must have been hard to keep track of all the orders, I suppose? x.x

You did the right thing. You're merely defending on the consumer side. And it was nice of you to think for the waiter.

I don't think you did anything wrong!!! First off, you should have been served the appetizer FIRST...before the soup!!! Second...the waiter should have corrected your ticket BEFORE you went to payout!!! He obviously wasn't concerned about your complaint!!! Third...the manager should have done MORE than just apologize to you by giving you your dinner & NOT charging you at all!!!

No, you didn't. It's a fact you didn't get your things and telling them straight in their face is definitely what I would have done. Moreover, you have notified them but they failed to deliver.

You have not made any mistake.Perhaps the waiter was busy at that time but he shouldn't be perfunctory ,said "it is coming ,it's okay."time and time, moreover when you feet the bill why didn't he go to the cash register and give the facts ?

What u did was right. We should not pay for a thing we do not get. If i was at your i would done the same or probably more than that. It was the waiter's mistake and he should punished for the same. It is not a thing to be guilty about what you did was totally right and justified.
