Movie Comparisons

I just saw a trailer for a New Movie tonight (the Name eludes Me,If I remember I'll put it up here!) It was described by some critic as being like "Jason Bourne Meets Inception",and as I watched a character run through a doorway, and swinging it closed behind them, only for the Person chasing them to run through only to find the space beyond was now a cleaning closet..and I thought "Throw in the Matrix to that description!" Me,I don't want to be going to a Movie and seeing what they "borrowed" from previously successful Movies..Who knows? they could have borrowed some good bits rather than the ones that might make you walk out..How about You? do you like to see parts of other Movie Formulae being revisited in a different Movie?

Now I want to know what movie you're talking about. I haunt IMDB and Apple trailers and I haven't seen anything like that yet. I think Inception covered new ground personally, and I'd like to see more stories about dreams, lucid dreams, and the science of dreaming. So if there's a new movie coming that dwells in dreams... bring it on! lol I don't mind the same formula being used in different movies if it's a formula that I really liked and the new movie is also trying to make a name for itself by itself. It depends.

Ohhh... I have seen the trailers for the Adjustment Bureau. It never really struck me as "Inception"-like though. More like Matrix maybe, cause there's apparently a conspiracy. But it does look pretty interesting.

I didn't get to see enough of this trailer to have an opinion on the Inception link..that reference was a soundbite from a critic on the trailer.I'm taking it from that that there are dream related events? Me and Inception didn't quite hit it off..It's an Edith Piaf thing at work-I didn't need reminded of that going to a Movie on a night off!

There can be an advantage and disadvantage. The disadvantage is that having some scenes combined is quite beyond originality with the concept. The advantage is that it is just another way of creativity. Creativity that can capture the viewer's thought of recollection. Well, perhaps the writers are the same that's why he came up with that idea of combining stories.

That's a good point, that some of the same creative team could be involved in this new movie, but on the other hand,it doesn't sound very creative of them if they're just borrowing ideas from stuff they did before!

Having recently seen the DVD,I think it's quite a different twist from those movies it was compared to..it's basically a Love story with more than your usual difficulties being encountered in getting the couple together..
