Interesting question i guess, i can only assume that both partys would see each other as the man asks the woman for her hand in marriage , maybe a microphone would help make it as real as possible?.

There is no best way. If love happens, it happens. No girl would want to be proposed to by email or on chat!
Real love means real people and you can't really know someone until you have met them.
