Hello... Do you think Imran Tahir has made a mark for himself in the line up for SA, with all the hype going around in the pre-WC scenario....I think he did make a mark with the number of wickets that he has taken and keeping the south african vice-captain Botha out of the team, even peterson for that matter has been prefered due to his batting ability which even Botha has, but yes due credit to Tahir for bowling so beautifully and making a mark for himself...I'm beginning to like that guy...

I think its too early to decide whether he is good enough or not. However he has shown promise for sure.It has happened in the past also that many leg spinners have come into the scene , they do well at the start as batsman find it difficult to pick then but after certain period batsman start picking their wrong one or flipper and then its real test for bowler.I am sure you remember Hirvani who took 16 wickets in his first test was not successful in international cricket later, there are many examples like that.In world cup matches he surely has bowled beautifully and has the ability to become a very good bowler but his real test would be after sometime when batsman will start picking him , it would be interesting to see how he deals with that situation.

I think Imran Tahir has made a positive mark in the SA line up. He is a genuine spinner and backs himself to pick up wickets. On the other hand Botha is more a pseudo spinner who is more effective for containing teams rather than picking wickets. Also Tahir is an unknown quantity for some of the teams and that is an asset for any bowler. Cheers! Ram

He is still new to the international cricket & yet to be tested under difficult circumstances....Although his contribution was significant , he has play more no of matches for us to draw conclusion on whether he is a good player or bad player...he is still a bit raw to international cricket but can be potent force as he spends more time learning the tricks of the trade...

It is not easy for any foreign born player to be included in the national side. Only players with exceptional qualities do that. Tahir is a Pakistani born player and South Africa thought it wise to include him in their world cup squad and include him in first playing eleven in preference to Botha speaks volume about his talent. By taking eleven wickets in 3 world cup matches he has proved that the confidence rested in him was right. At 32 he is not any young but still has good number of years ahead of him.

Dear Rich, No doubt that Imran Tahir is a wonderful find to South Africa, and to cricket itself. But the point is consistency. How consistent can he be over a long period of time??? Then there is the fact about Test cricket, how successful can he be in Test cricket?? These questions can only be answered over a period of time. For the moment he is doing wonderfully well.. He can spin the ball, and has a great googly. He flights the ball, gets the loop, which is refreshing to see. I hope that he is here to stay... Share your views... Balu.

Yes, Imran Tahir made his mark - 8 wickets in 2 matches! Go Imran!!!! I've I were him, I'd spend sometime on my batting and cement my place that way. Suddenly there's spinners competing for a place in the SA team. Almost impossible to believe!

I think yes I also want to appreciate South Africa Strategy which they used first time in their recent history, " Play with spinners in this World Cup". I admit they are getting good results too. Yesterday defeat was unexpected but I think they got their shocking call too which was very important for this kind of tournament. Imran Tahir will go for a long time in the team because of his performance which is the key element in this tournament for South Africa.
