What kind of topics earn you the most money when writing?

Some of the review sites pay different for certain reviews, for example consumer reviews of electronic goods seems to be the most well paid. When it comes to writing articles on websites like bukisa, hubpages, helium and associated content, I find that travel is my best earner but it's possibly because it's something I know a lot about. I've heard from other people that business articles and internet related ones earn the best, what kind of topic do you find gives you the best income?

Hello, Dangaroo. I write for Helium, and I find that health and fitness, relationships and family, travel and entertainment earn best on page views. Having said that, there's always the odd surprise one that does better than you expect. I tend to write what interests me, and if you can make it interesting, virtually anything will earn well.

Recently I started to wonder if it was worth writing about something completely off the grid, for example researching someone that little is known about, where there is not enough information available about the subject on the internet that way your helium article would be without a doubt the best option for readers to go to.

It's always worth writing something original, rather than rehashing what's already out there. Your idea of writing about something that isn't well represented on the internet is a good one. Of course, the research will take longer, but if it's something you're interested in, you'll enjoy it anyway. That's why I always write about stuff that interests me. I never think research time is wasted time, as you always learn something as you go, and if you're interested and knowledgeable about your subject, your readers will enjoy your articles and (hopefully) come back for more. I have a link to Helium on my profile page. Message me there, as I'd like to read some of your stuff. I'm always keen to make new friends at Helium.

For me,the topics which make me earn most money when writing is about things found inside the house or things which we use everyday like faucet, voice recorder and clock. My blog is a personal blog so I cover things which are related to household and my readers are mostly stay at home mommies or wives.

I think local news, like you living in different states, and giving the review of local economies, and businesses prospective, and local scenes etc...... might earn you some good money though. I heard people want to move around, and they want to check out the local scenes and see what other people say about it. Also, if you can write something about earning money opportunities, you might get more review on it too. Check them out.

It does seem that a lot of the writing sites are geared towards US topics, particularly Helium, there's lots of travel writing opportunities within the country itself but the worldwide articles are almost untouched. Earning money opportunities is a good idea too.

Writing science based articles seem to be one of the biggest earners. There are only a few writers in the sciences in most of web publishing sites. So if you are good in writing a science or medical articles you stand the chance of counting yourself among the biggest earners.

Yeah, I've done a couple of medical articles, only basic stuff but seemed to pay quite well on a shared revenue basis. It's not really something I'm interested in though, so I don't think I'll be doing too many of them in the future ;).

Hi Dangaroo, I think when it comes to investment articles, the timing is very important. Now that we are in the midst of a crisis, the articles about oil price, gold and silver investing will definitely earn better. Now many people are departing from stock markets into precious metal investing. I think in a recession, articles about saving money, finding a job will do better than others. In an economic boom, probably articles about dealing with stress, and coping with multitasking will be better.

Hi dangaroo, I find it really does not matter on the actual topic because the views are available worldwide. What one likes many others may not and vice verse. What I personally feel that a great topic article will certainly be liked if it is well written. A well written article will grab a person attention along with great key words as well. As a writer you sort of have to create several to see what gets the most hits. This way you get a feel as what is of interest or not. But then also keep in mind that certain topics can also be geared seasonally. Best of luck.
