Hi Humans, I have a gmail account and I want another one for a project I am undertaking. The two accounts need to be separate. It's taken me most of today to try and figure out how to do it and I just cannot. SURELY...two people sharing the same computer can each have a gmail account???? It's got me beat so I'm turning it over to the computer brainiacs. Please help.

I see that I am a bit late to this one as you have already sorted it out it seems. I have 4 different email accounts with Gmail that I use whenever I want. I just choose the one that I wish to use from a drop down menu. I also have these filtered to go through to my main account so that I only ever have to visit one inbox. Before I figured that one out, I would have to log out of one account and into the next one which was a pain!

There is no need to have two browsers open. If you go into settings in your main Gmail account, then select the accounts and import tab. In there you can add different emails to send from, even non Gmail ones. Then if you go to the forwarding tab in your other account you can add an email address for your emails to be forwarded to. I did this in the accounts that I did not want to be accessing.I hope this is clear and I think it is right. It has been a couple of years since I set this system up.

Hi kiddo, I'm ok, think I'm still getting over travelling to collect Dad, looking after him here for a week then taking him home again...it was Monday I took him home, came home myself Tuesday and had a 550klm client trip on Thursday. I'm exhausted and have lots of house and yard chores staring me in the face. I should get you to be my puter guru and email you my problems instead of posting them here (out of pure, unadulterated frustration) and embarrassing myself. Ahh well, c'est la vie.

Hi bon...I basically knew what to do but when it didn't work I went off on a tangent and got very frustrated. It finally worked like a dream after I cleared my cache and restarted my computer. LOL. I need more confidence in myself...am I getting too old for that??

Hi surekharathi. I know there are some husband and wife teams here with separate accounts who maybe use the same computer. I really can't answer your question for sure. Try reading the FAQ, TOS, and Guidelines...links can all be found at the bottom of every page. After all that, if you still don't know, you will maybe like to contact the member GoAskAlice...who is really Alex.

yes u have one gmail account ok then u created of another account what u do is the first u change ur name in that account dont put the same account name and they are asking for a security question and sending a code towards our cell phone we copy that code in our mobile phone then paste into the browser then activate account thats it the account will be activated we create so many accounts like this u doesn't create one more account for facing lots of troubles that means u follow my simple steps change ur account name with ur second gmail account and then create an account.

I see you got the help you needed, I'm glad you were able to get another account. I have 3 gmail accounts and find them very handy! I use one for internet financial opportunities, one for personal and work use if I ever manage to get a job, and one for PayPal and other important internet business. Just remember to check them daily, that's the one think I keep forgetting!!

I use one gmail for myLot and now the new one is for a business project I'm setting up. I've been using it for quite a few hours now...I should be in bed cos it's going on for 2 am here. I also have a Hotmail account for friends and various stuff and a Yahoo account for surveys info. It can be hard to remember top check them sometimes and then you end up with huge truck loads of emails.

hi MsTickle hatley here. The person in the first box beat me to it but follow his or her advice and you are in like flyn. My son set mine up for me and I have four separate accounts for four separate things. one of which is strictly mylot. lol lol. Surely you have a young friend or relative who is a bona fide computer nerd who can halp you like one , two, three. lol

Hello lovely lady. Around here, I'm probably the closest we have to a computer nerd. lol. Yes, I have nephews but I have basically no contact with them. My brother is also too busy to help and he's overseas working a lot of the time. When I was first trying to do it, I was taken to a page to add a verifying account....it all went belly up from there. I have it all sorted now.

Hello Ms tickle, well, by this time, you surely have no problem and probably your second g-mail account, you can have as many as you wish, actually, I have a junk one, where I redirect all suspect mail to open, often from a public pc, or, when I want to enter a page I am not sure if it is safe enough. So, if you havenĀ“t, go ahead, and open your second account.

Yes, I think that this is possible. Firstly, going to the computer, do each of you have your own account on the windows desktop? For example, I share my computer with a friend and I name my account Andrew's Computer and my friend has his account as John's account although I am the Administrator! Referring to gmail, that's the free email account and I use it myself. I'm assuming you have your gmail email address. Well, the other person that you are sharing your computer with they only have to go to gmail and create a new account. By doing this they will receive their own email address, different from you own. I think the best way to do this would be for the both of you to use your own user accounts on the windows desktop. Good luck with that. Andrew

Hi Andrew...haven't seen you in an age...hope things are good for you. I managed to open a second account after trying for a long time this morning. In my search, I even found a page of people asking how to overcome the same problem. BLACK_PANTHER explained why I could not get it right at first. Thanks for the good luck wishes.

I am late to your discussion but see you have figured it out. If only there was an actual FAQ on the site that can actually walk us through these sort of things. But unfortunately neither is the support we get from them. lol..

When I went looking for help after not finding info on my page about adding a second account, the first thing I found was a page of people asking the same question and a very complicated means of doing the job that actually had nothing to do with the correct way to do it. So I'm not the only one who was confused by the situation.... Although the answer was simple in the end, it was not an easy task for someone like me who tends to lean towards complicating things unnecessarily.

Hello Human, Yes we can open as many email accounts as we like from one computer on gmail. In fact we can do this on any site like yahoo, indiatimes, etc. In my home, my sister, wife, me, and brother all have email address opened from single computer and we all check our mails almost daily without any problem. Go ahead and open another account.
