Suspicious Email from Fedex

Philippines

Hi Everyone, I checked my email awhile ago and got this message from fedex stating that I have a transaction made with them. I was so shocked for I have been checking my paypal this whole morning. Here is the email I got, with an attached file that (of course) I didn't open; Dear customer. The parcel was sent your home address. And it will arrive within 7 business day. More information and the tracking number are attached in document below. Thank you. © FedEx 1995-2011 What the?!! And so I checked online how to report it with fedex and have stumbled to an article that I could forward the information to fedex's customer help center which handle's scam mails, phishing, etc. The email was abuse@fedex.com. Guys, have you encountered similar email like this? Thanks in advance.

No, I've never received an email like that. I never heard of additional information or the tracking number being put in an attachment. Probably because no reputable company would ever do it that way! You were smart for not opening it up. And you were even smarter for reporting it to Fedex. Good job! Happy mylotting!

scam sucks - beware the scammer!
Well, I get thousand of phishing email of people who wants to steal my money. Now I know how to reconize a bad mail from a good one. You have to check first the email address of the sender, if it after @ you see fedex.com the mail is not a scam. If the mail address is different you have to delete it and report the mail to abuse@fedex.com. To have a clean mail account I suggest you to make another a mail account only to receive promotional mails or newsletter. I hope this will help you. cheers :D

hi jamz, I totally agree. I should have another email for promotional mails or newsletter. Now, I am using temporary emails if I need to sign-up to some offers so that I will avoid getting spam mails or unsolicited emails. Thanks!

It sounds like a phishing email. If you didn't open the attachment I wouldn't worry too much about it. Opening the attachment would probably introduce a virus into your system that would steal all your personal info. Your best bet is to just delete the email.

hi gstitzer, yeah! it might be a phishing email. I wonder if yahoo mail could really detect viruses from attachments but it is best not to really open it it or download any attached files from suspicious mails such as this one. thanks!

Hi danitykane. I think I did receive emails like this from FedEx few weeks ago but I did not even read the whole email. I was not expecting anything to be sent to me and it said the parcel was delivered. I did not receive any though, so I did not bother to open the email. I just read the one liner message when I opened the inbox, after that I deleted it straight away. Next time I will make sure to forward it to FedEx. Thanks for the information.

Thankfully, I haven't. But dont sweat to much. Sometimes spammers get your email ID and send you these kinds of emails to get more information from you. But just to be sure you might want to change your paypal password.

I read something like this before, and it was from big companies. I think it is a virus.

Hi, Yes, I've been getting numerous emails like that. I've deleted every one of them. If I weren't so busy with all of my online activities, I probably would have done the research that you did. It's most likely a phishing email. What a joke.

i think i got a few with this kind of emails. but it's not fedex, if i can remember well, they used the other name, UPS i guess. but i ignore those emails and i immediately delete them or mark them as spam. for a year or so, i never got another.

I got a few times even though I am not expecting any parcels or have sent any of them out. Highly likely it's a scam pr phishing emails. Usually I'd just ignore and delete the emails. If I am indeed expecting any parcels, I'd go to their official website and key in the tracking number. Or if you want to be 100% sure, just head to the branch to check it out. Happy mylotting!!!

9 times out of 10, any mail headed "dear customer" rather than "dear your-real-name" is a scam. If it's genuine they'll get back to you.

hello danity, So you received same email from FedEx. My daughter received on her email and told her to ignore it. I guess it's not just scam, but kind of virus as well. This reminds me of the loveletter virus sent to emails,so i told her not to open it but deleted it immediately.

I have encountered something like this.My response then was to verify the number given in my e.mail with the online verification process. The message which came immediately was there was no such series or number.I could glean that someone was trying to elicit personal information from me.

I have received the same email from Fedex but I did not open the attachment thinking that it could a virus. I am not expecting any parcel from Fedex and I don't know where did that email sender got my email address. If there is really a package or parcel for me, it should be sent directly on our footstep.
