Many people have a close relationship with their pets. These people treat their birds, cats,or other animals as members of their family. What do you say about it? I think being very close to a pet can be both positive and a negative thing. Health professionals have concluded that having a pet is very healthy for everyone. People who have heart disease or similar health problems are often urged to get a pet becuase it can lower your blood pressure. How ever, some people get anxious about their pets. If you always worry about the pet getting lost or not getting the right food to eat, then that is not healthy for you.

having pets is good for you in so many ways. firstly, the well documented fact that it lowers blood pressure and stress levels. some animals, like dogs, horses, or animals that need plenty of hard work to clean out provide physical exercise. which is also good for you. and dogs and horses particularly, can increase your social circle of friends. children that grow up with lots of pets have stronger and healthier immune systems and are less likely to suffer from allergies and athsma keeping animals increases a persons compassion for all other living things I can't think of any REAL negative impacts on our lives from having pets. except maybe for vet bills. but we'd rather have the bills than see our loved ones suffer.

yea it would require lots of hard work too. Pets should be given appropriate food. Some pets owners even spend hundreds of dollars on supplies for their pets. There are children in the world who don't have clothes or food or toys. Feeling close to your pet can be very satisfying and healthy, as long as you don't overdo it.

Well worded! The second case applies to me. I love my doggie as my first son and when he is sick or takes wrong food, that keeps bother me much. And If someone makes complaint about my dog, I go real crazy. But first case is quite true. My mom was sick last year and I knew this pet has changed the life at home, She is now hale and healthy and her mental stress is no where to be seen. I would suggest pet is a must and one will understand the beauty of life. Sometimes pets replace kids, my friend has no kids but she never worries after she has 3 puppies which keeps her feeling of a mom!

I LOVE my pets, and of course I worry about them getting lost or dying, but not to the point that it would effect my health. When they do die I guess I do make myself sick with grief for a few days, but eventually I will get better. I never fully get over it, but I can live with it. My animals are there for me when I'm sad, one animal will help comfort me over the loss of another. Animals are good to have, and I think every household should have at least 1 dog or 1 cat... "It's better to have loved and lost (a pet) than never to have loved (a pet) at all"

there are lots of proven scientific evidence that keeping pets can do wonders for a person's health.keeping pets can lower stress and depression and get you to exercise more.personally, for someone who prefers having pets over children,I love that pets don't require the latest cellphone or ask for allowance increase.pets aren't much expensive as opposed to having children.as long as I have a collar or microchip on my pets and they are properly trained, then I'm good.

Throughout my life I've always lived in a very pet friendly home. When I was a very small girl we had just one dog that was a member of our family. There was a time that we were up to having five dogs in our home before I moved out from my mother's house and they were all like members of the family to me. When we moved into our home we brought my dog and my daughter's dog with us and have since added two cats to our family as well. I can't imagine what my life would be like if I didn't have at least one pet.

Personally, I believe having pets is like playing with your food.... And, our moral values have been corrupted from having pets- people have more sympathy for a homeless puppy than a homeless person........

Yea I appreciate the way you think. Many pets are very loving and it's easy to love them back. Some people, though, go overboard. They treat their pets like one of the family. Sometimes they even sset a place for them at a table or give them their own rooms in the house. They treat them as if they were children. Some pets are, infact, substitutes for children. People need to keep their perspective about their pets. Dressing a pet up in clothes like a child is not emotionally healthy. Pets are animals and get confused if you expect them to act like human beings.

Having and caring for a pet is good for you both physically and mentally IF you are actually attached to your pet and care for it. Some people have animals around; but, have no emotional attachment with the animal and that is not good for the person or the animal. In this case the animal stays just an "animal" and never attains the status of a "pet".

First of, I believe we are all entitled to our own opinion. To some pets are still animal while others treat them as family members. In my case, I never grew up having a pet in the house because doctors advised us that dogs or cats can trigger asthma attacks. When I turned 26 yrs old, I decided to get a dog of my own. After 4 years of having a pet around, I think they taught me more than tricks I can teach them. I learned to be responsible in taking care of a living creature. I've never known unconditional love compared to the love our pets give us. I am amazed at how they understand us in everything and yet we easily get angry at them just because we don't understand what they're saying. Compared to animals, we have broader understanding of things going on around us and yet we ignore having compassion over helpless creatures. For some people, this may not be the case though. It maybe due to health reasons like me who have asthma. We never know the reason. You don't have to own a dog or cat to love one. As stated by others in this discussion, I agree that pets give positive effect in human lives. The only negative thing I can see right now is not coming from pets that people own. It's from owners who aren't responsible enough to take care of their pets. For example, not training your pet properly might bring harm to other people. And in return these people might get the notion that they don't like pets or any animal, when in fact it was not the animals fault anymore. As I've said, we are to choose whether or not we like to have pets. It will be healthier to us owners and the people around us to be responsible just so everything will be fine.

Yes keeping pets is good in my opinion. When you are alone then pet can always being with you. So you will never feel boring. When the pets will affection you then you will be which is good. You always feel that some one always with you doesn't matter that no people are not with you. You can time pass your time of being a pets. Good luck!

It is like the saying mans best friend. I think it is very healthy to have a wonderful pet. However we as pet owners need to care for them also as if they were family members. It is not fair to own a pet and not care for it properly. Sometimes I do not understand why people own pets and not care for them properly. There are some people that absolutely love their pets and care for them well.
