So here it is. It would really be appreciated if we could some how get notifications about when someone resplied to our responses and which discussion they reply on our mylot homepage. And notice I said homepage. I know that there are already notification of this to our emails. But to me it is too stressing for me to always go into my email just to see if anyone has replied to my discussion. Because of this issue it restrain many people from prolonging the discussion withing varying topics. What are your opinions on this mylotters? Wouldn't it be very helpful and useful to have the specific notation refered to above to appear in a new sortie on the homepage? And I hope mylot would include this feature as soon as possible.

A sortie wouldn't be a bad idea. I always have my email opened simultaneous to my myLot activity so I follow my email quite a bit. I also try to get through my emails daily or I would be way over bombarded. So I find my way to be okay, but the added sortie may not be a bad idea actually. You can contact myLot via the contact done below the page but don't count on being answered right away because that would involve a whole script change and I do remember recently our Admin saying that although he is making suggestions via a compiled list does not seem to be happening anytime soon. But you never know it may be something they can quite easily do, so I say go for it and ask, won't hurt really. Here is the contact link: http://www.mylot.com/o/contactus.aspx Keep us updated if a probability of a change.

Ok I am really going to try that link now because it is very important to me at the moment. As for my email. My email must be really packed. I cant even get the opportunity to go it because I am using a low performance computer. So when my other computer is fixed i know that email adress will be over flowing. Wow I am going to be so scared.

Wow you are a really busy woman. But i would not expect any better seeing that you always get best responses. So more than ten messages from mylot saying you got a bes response. Over 100 discussions to reply to each day. And then you have messages from family and friends as well as your hussi. Then maybe you have from other money making websites.

Let me give you a hint, I did not have internet for 9 days so when I came back online my email had 3800 email alerts. Whoa that took me 1 week to figure out which to respond to, which I already had and it was a nightmare. So best of luck with yours.

I agree. Notifications are useful in websites like this. They did a good job summarizing the respones in our profile page. Nonetheless, as a newbie I agree with Renhard.

Hey welcome to mylot. You see, even though you are a newbie you still understnad what I am getting here. i know it would prove so helpful to so much people, if they would only take the time out to think about it. Seriously!

Otherwise from that you would need to use your email to check that. And it isnt like those email will come the same time the person respond. You usually have to wait a good while before you see those email appear in your inbox.

That is a smart way of doing things. But then again that couldnt work with this laptop that I am on because that will only slow up the laptop worse than how it is already. And right now it is moving really slow.

Like HWG and many others, I keep my emails open while mylotting and that way I come to know about responses. Doesn't work for comments though Going to homepage is like refreshing the mails for me. Both take equal time here. As you say, your emails hamper your system and I see the suggestion will help here. SO they should consider it. I wouldn't have to even go to my mails with all this tabbed browsing and auto-refresh feature of Gmail, if only my connection was good enough to support this. Wish you all the best!

well said Can't say how much time it'll take. Hmm... I'm a kind of mail check freak and my connection is not working all the time. SO it's not myLot's fault that I keep email tab open. It just serves two purposes. Besides, I'd have to open a new tab for homepage each time I want to check for responses.... Hi Misterwit Hope to catch you one day not asleep. Whenever I almost succeed, my net crashes! xD

I sldo think that they really need to consider it. I have submitted it to them. Do you think they will review it? And if so about how long will they actually take to review it? Because to me this is needed as soon as possible. And it is just a waste of computer resources to keep those two tabs open up every minute. THE WORLD IS GOING IN A CRISIS HERE, CUTTING DOWN ON THOSE RESOURCES REALLY COULD HELP SAVE ENERGY. EARTH MONTH!!

I think it is up to us to this. I have set aside one certain email address that I get my notifications. Why would it stress you to go to your email and get them? I guess I don't understand. I do it every day and have for several years now. I really doubt that Mylot is going to start this new feature for one person.

Making it optional would probably be best suited for cases like this.

You see I am really struggling to use the internet at the moment because virus has crashed my fast computer. Now the problem I have with this computer is that I cant check my emails because it is going to freeze up then. I cant open too tabs are i doomed to have to restart the whole computer. But even before my computer had crashed, I still wanted this sortie because I just cant understand why they would leave it out. There are persons who turn off the notifications to their email. Some because they wont be able to manage their email when it is too full especially if they are also recieving important emails that they dont want to accidentally delete. And even some of them would find it much easier if they had this sortie on the hompage. And notice I said sortie. And you already know that you are given the option to delete a sortie if you feel it to be unnecessary. So all those who dont want it could simply remove it. But others who actually need it could benefit from it like me.

Hi Renhard: I agree with you. It would be a nice way we can keep connected, specially for these discussions that you want to know the responses and discuss/know more and more about this interesting subject. Thanks for sharing with us your suggestion. Have a nice day. ALVARO

Now all I would want now is for the mylot admins to consider it. I send them it yesterday but I havent heard from them yet on if they are going to change it or what exactly they plan to do.

I guess this wouldn't matter to me either which way it goes. Being that I'm always checking my email. I have a blackberry so, whenever my little red light starts blinking that means I have an email. But for others who don't have a smartphone, i can understand where this can be stressful. But for me, before i have my smartphone i did have to check my email to see if i had a response or not. So i agree, for people in this situation you should definitely contact mylot admin. I'm not sure how to, which I could help on this part.

I also have a blackberry but even though I will see the message come in my email. I still feel that it would be much easier to have the notification on the home page. You see sometimes I come on mylot while I am at school. Phones arent allowed at school but even though I still carry my blackberry. I really cant let anyone see me with it or they will take it away from me. So even when I get mylot messages, I really cant look at them, there and then. And i would have to use a friend laptop to actually manually check those discussions to see if anyone actually respond to any of them.

hi renhard but it does not take that long to find o ut if anyone has resp;nded to your discussions. It is all under started so what more would you need .oh it sounds good but it might take a lot more time and software to make these changes and a lot of us just check started to see who has replied to our discussions. Also most of us make it a habit to visit our discussions to keep up on commenting on them.,.

I check my emails regularly and I have no problem with my notifications (all 700 of them LOL!) Your idea sounds like a good one and may well be worth submitting to admin and wait for a reply. I am sure that MyLot appreciates sensible suggestions from the members so go for it and see what they say...

I have already submitted it to the admin. I just wish they they would take a look at it and not just skip over it. But I am wondering, if they do look at it and they say they are going to change it, how long would it take then to actually change it? Atleast you see that it could be proven as helpful.

Hello Renhard, That is not a bad idea. When that happens we would not need our e-mails to check for our responses. That is the one big advantage about that. But, as for now opening and checking your e-mail seems to be a better idea. Now that is because many of us check our mail more frequently than we do mylot. We check them for work, or friend's mail or anything but you have to agree that more people check their mail than opening mylot. When they see the mail, they open it and the link directs them directly to the discussion and that makes it easier for them to follow mylot. I have reasons to believe some people respond to mylot only because they saw that waiting for them in their mail. Now, if you say what about mail and mylot homepage both together(?), then that is difficult. I don't think it's easy to give two different notifications at the same time, however they can do it, i think. But still, the email is important because many people don't even open up mylot and their mail reminds them of this site and they decide to come back to respond. So for the sake of giving notifications on the homepage i just hope they don't stop sending you the email notification. As for me, when i feel lazy to open and check my mail I go to my "discussions i responded to" sortie and see who has given the last response and respond back there.

WhenI say they should put a new notification on the homepage i didnt mean they should cancel the email one. I still want the email one. Yes I agree when I just come online I would check my email and then when I see the mylot notification I just respond to them. But when i reach on mylot now, I really dont want to have to go back again to my email just to see the rest of the notifications. I would prefer if they are on my homepage and I know alot of people will find that very advantageous.

So are satisfied with having to go every minute to your email just to check that. You see i used to really dont have a problem with that until now my computer crash and I am left with a very slow and outdated laptop. You see if I try go into my email the computer will freeze and I will have to restart it just for that. Now If i had the notification on my homepage, I could quickly navigate to it, and this would have cause a faster response time to discussions.

Hi sweetie, long time no see... how are you doing? :) My suggestion? Get a sweet girlfriend... and give her your email address... the same one in which you get myLot notifications...you wont find it very stressful to check mails.. Kidding... but honestly, I have to... check my mail almost everyday because of other reasons. So... I dont experience that problem...I am sure GAA will be around to tell you what he can do for you, and what he cant...

You don't have to depend on your email notifications. There is a drop down menu under 'discussions' where you will find what you want. - 'discussions you started', 'discussions you responded to', etc.
@Renhard (3471)

Yes i know but the fact still remain that I wont know if someone has replied to my response unless I actually go in the discussion itself. Now that takes too much time. If it was stated in the "discussions responded to" that {name of mylotter} replied to my response then that would still be better. Notice here I am not talking about my own discussions, I am talking abput others discussion that I have responded to.

And I am hearing some mylotters say they are satisfied with there email. And that is why I said to put it as a sortie. Because if someone chose not to want the sortie , they could simply just delete it. So it would be optionable to who actually want it to benefit from it. Thanks for your response.

I know we get notified when a discussion has been deleted but I would like to know the reason so I don't make that mistake again, I am a little confused at the moment as I feel I am working within the guidelines but still deletions...

I was about to write about this problem as well but then again I didnt want this discussion to be jumbled. Anyhow I really think they need to tell us why it got deleted as well. Because if we dont know, we are doomed to make the same mistake. I really hope they can assist us in these problems right here.
