We all know this is one of the most dangerous topics to talk about besides politics. I tend to not talk about policis at all, for it has no interest to me. But religion comes up here and there, but i really try not to much to say for i know the effects a touchy topic like this can have an effect on people. What about you, do you freely talk about your religion, or do you know its just best to keep that topic from coming up at the "dinner table" Oh, I need to mention, Its ok for me to talk freely about my religion with people who has the same beliefs as I. But for other, its a very touchy topic. People could get offended, looked down upon, or criticized is what i mean. Anyway, whats your opinion?

It's a fact that people can (and do) get extremely defensive when their beliefs are challenged...especially when it comes to religion. The truth is that, some people are afraid of change, in the sense that WHAT they may believe, may NOT be worthy of the belief anymore, due to the advances of science and the discoveries that mankind has made in understanding his/her world. What some of these religious fanatics DON'T seem to understand, or grasp, is that ALL religions, no matter who's, are completely man-made. If they'd only THINK about it realistically, then perhaps we could get on with improving the world based on our religious similarities, rather than our differences. commanderxo

Hello, What an amazing response,I agree when people seem to wanna debate religion to me I simply say prove to me these are his words, until then I am not buying it. I believe people should respect each otheres beliefs because you don't know for sure what is right, I take a little from this a little from that therefore I have my own religion its call open-minded...I am comfortable with that. Great response

Thanks for this topic Keshia. You keep yourself pretty busy here at Mylot and I am grateful that you keep me thinking about things to write. I have no problem talking to the lost souls of this fallen world about the God's plan of Salvation that is Jesus Christ. Anybody claiming to be a follower of Jesus is commanded to tell everyone the "Good News" that is the Gospel. These were the last words spoken by Jesus before He ascended into Heaven. I talk to anyone, at any oppurtunity. Reference the end of the last chapters of Matthew, Mark, and Luke in the Bible. We are to be talking to others about Salvation and showing them how to be 100% sure that Heaven will be their home, if not then we are disregarding our responsibilities to reach out to the lost. The book of Acts in the Bible also bears this out as there were no established churches when Christ left the earth, only Jewish synagogues and heathen temples. The Gospel was taught to people mainly by one to one contact and small gatherings who heard the Apostles preach in homes and public places. There is a major problem nowadays in the world that teaches the misguided idea of tolerance. The Bible DOES NOT teach tolerance, but it does teach love, kindness and gentleness. Too many Christians do not rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to empower them in their daily walk and receive the boldness to be a witness for the truth that is Jesus. The world suffers for it. How can we reach out to anyone if all we do is talk to someone who believes what we do? Telling others how to be saved from an eternity of torment and suffering is the primary work of a Christian. I do not worry about offending because I do it in a gentle way. I do not belittle or criticize. I am planting the seeds, perhaps fruit will appear later. If that person rejects hearing it, they are not rejecting me, they are rejecting God. It is not me who saves them, it is God. I am only a witness for the truth. There are many different religions, made up by mere mortal men, with many Gods. They cannot all be true. There is only one God, the Creator of all. John 3:16, Amen

When it comes to peoples mortality and the rest of their lives it most definitely would cause that. I don't know why people can't just accept other people's beliefs and not think less of them. I'm not saying everybody is like that but there are plenty out there who do look down on other people for having even faith at all. They think they know for a fact that they are right, that this is it, and that everybody else is foolish.

I completely agree with your last sentence, I can sometime be this way which is why I choose not to go into dept about religion to people who has different beliefs as I. So I am guilty of this. Thanks for sharing!

Religion and politics which are often based on religion. Are often an unresolvable point of conflict for people. I think it's largely because people either can't think for themselves or are unwilling to enter a discussion in which something they believe might be logically fallible. Personally, I'm not religious but don't mind talking about religion as long as it isn't made into a personal attack towards me. But I'm also comfortable with offense religious jokes as long as they are meant as jokes and not hateful. Really, I think people should be able to discuss religion with people whose views differ, they might realize they have more in common than they thought or learn something... If a person isn't comfortable talking about their beliefs, whatever they are, it shows that they aren't sure of their beliefs.

I will have to diagree completely with your last sentence "if a person isn't comfortable taking about their beliefs, whatever they are, it shows that they aren't sure of their beliefs" One, that to me seems like a personal attack, which is why i don't like to go into dept about my religion and beliefs to other who has a different opinion. Two, I know what I believe in is to be the truth, so I could argue all day my opinion which is another reason why i don't go into dept about my beliefs to others. Because like I said people get offended and take things personal. So that has nothing to do with people being uncomforotable about talking about their beliefs aren't sure of their beliefs.

Hi Keshia, You are absolutely right when you say it is very dangerous thing to talk about. For simple reason that even though people may claim they are open minded and respect all religions, yet they lie. They soon try to show their religion is better one and people from one religion ( dont want to name it here but everyone knows) would try to convert you . When they cant win by logic, soon it would like no it is not true because my holy book says no, even if you are talking about before that holy book was written or their god came to earth. So it is always better to avoid these kind of talks.

I somewhat agree. I wont delve into religion so much. I`ll give my two cents without stepping on anyone`s toes.(Not saying I purposely do that. Just some people assume.) You`re right about religion being a touchy subject. Alot of people are very faithful to their religion and stick by it which I admire, but here`s the thing. Some people can get crazy when you say something small. I think if you wanna talk about religion whether it`s yours or not, go ahead! As long as you`re trying not to disrespect, I believe it`s fine. I don`t feel you should keep certain things in just because it`s a touchy subject. Speak your mind. Be open minded. And if some crazy religious person wants to start by explaining his/her beliefs, trying to insist they are right in every way, shape, or form... (especially on the internet which makes you look very stupid.) Just ignore. No point in wasting time on that. No one wins in those situations. Anyway take care! Godbless.

Yes it is true that religion is a very touchy subject, I mean after all look at all the wars that started over such a little thing as who do you believe in. I am a open person by nature so it is very easy for me to talk about religion just as long as no one is too touchy about it. For me it is hard to believe in just one religion, all of them fascinate me to no end. I love learning about them all, but when it comes down to the fact on what I believe it is a hard one. I used to go around saying that I am a Wiccan, but now I'm not so sure. Not that I don't like that religion, I love it truly. But, I'm more of a eclectic person, I like them all. Who am I to say which one is right and which one is wrong, in my belief I think they are all right in some way or form.
