I came across an article today about Willing Willie. Another issue on that show again, i am not fond of watching his show since i find it too annoying at times plus for the sake of money those people will cry will laugh will dance and given would even kneel in front of Willie to praise him just for money which can be pretty stupid. Anyways, another hot topic is about him letting a child do some dirty dancing stuff... i will share the video so you can be the judge http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyJXYl90ZwA what is just mind boggling to me is that why the hell would the parents teach that kid such dance? there are so many freakin dances in this world, why that? the child could sing, the child could recite, the child could dance hiphop, ballet or whatever but dirty dancing? heck!!

I haven't read the article about the child that dirty danced at Willie's show but I watch his show yesterday and saw the child and his parents. Willie was defensive that it was the boy's talent to dance like macho dancers do and the boy even requested for Careless Whisper as his background music while dancing though a different tune was played. The boy's father works in a parlor and looks like a gay and I remember that the father said that the boy loves to dance that way and he even supports it. Willie, the boy's father and his audience find it entertaining and Willie was even proud that the youtube video have hit more than 400 thousand views. As a parent, we take pride if our children were being recognized for their talents but we must be aware of what kind of talent the child is good at. In this case, we all know that dirty dancing is only being danced by call boys and macho dancers and can only be seen on gay bars and places where no children or minors are allowed. It is the parents' responsibility to guide and inform the child if what he is doing is right for his age or not, and whether the child likes it or not, dirty dancing is not appropriate for a child. The father even commented that people who have seen the child dancing in Willie's show praised the child and he was so happy about it and he is giving his full support for his son. As for Willie, supposing that he doesn't know before hand what was the talent of the child, only that the boy said he will dance, he should have stop the boy from dirty dancing the moment he saw it thinking that it is not good for the child's age. Willie even let the child danced to the delight of the audience till the music stops. I pitied the child because he was crying while dancing and as if he doesn't want what he is doing. I guess, MTRCB should step on this.

I thought it was a case of child abuse until I saw the video. I am no fan of Willie R., in fact, I find the guy a show-off, a brute and a brat more so now that he has lots and lots of money. But not to millions of our masses, people in the grassroots of Philippine society who are the target audience of the TV network's program. They idolize Willie because the guy just have the right charisma to interact with the poor. His charisma and the money he generously gives to his audience is such an effective formula to make him so popular and raise the network's ratings. Willie's popularity created a lot of enemies. And the latest issue of child abuse is a case blown out of proportion by his detractors. Jan-jan was just one of those countless minors who auditioned and tried his luck for talent exposure and for the MONEY! And it just also happened that the 6 year old boy's talent was dirty dancing. So what! I've seen a lot of even younger boys doing their thing in dirty dancing taught by adults or seen and copied from TV shows. The host and the audience as well found the boy's act as pleasingly extraordinary as it is not common among boys his age to perform a macho dance. For his act he got rewarded with P10K - not bad for a 6 year old boy from a poor family. I believe also that what happened was not scripted - it was an impromptu act which made it even more entertaining to the audience. If you find the kid's dance tasteless it may not be the fault of the parents - he could have learned that from watching too much TV these days.

media indeed plays a big role in every child..that is why parents need to filter what children are watching.

if that child is taught to cry and dance, he is one talented kid. it is no easy to teach one kid to cry infront of so many people while dancing. he might be crying due to shame or being forced. still i find it the parent's fault

From the responses I read from other Myloters they seem to make an assumption that the kid was crying out of shame, ridicule or intimidation. I beg to disagree. And this is my presumption: that was the gimmick that the boy's parents or his aunt perhaps taught him before he was to appear on nationwide TV. Cry! Cry for no reason at all to gain the sympathy of Willie and the audience. Cry to "sweeten the pot", so to speak. Indeed the kid was rewarded P10K for his dance and crying act. For all you know the boy enjoyed every minute of it. Oh, common guys, can't you see the entire picture? Contestants most often from the poor of our society have found a venue to air and "cry" out their problems whether sincerely or pretentiously on the willing shoulders of Willie, courtesy of the TV network.

For me child abuse comes in different ways both physically and emotionally. I find it an abuse too if you deprive a child of his/her rights to enjoy his childhood. Stripping him/her of the chance to savor the beauty of life and force him/her to doing something against his/her will. As for the recent situation regarding the evening show Willing-Willie, the first person that should be given responsibility are the parents of the child who was asked to dance in front of many people and televised around the world. It was their idea to have the child dance. Dancing is not really bad, but it depends on how they chose the type of music and dance that the child performed. Clearly he was not happy with what he was doing. Parents should be the first person to protect their children from such abuse. But as we can see, it was them who urged the child to dance publicly. If it was their idea in the first place, they should have considered backing out when they saw the child crying. As for TV5 and Willie, it was their call not to make fun of the child seeing that he was not happy with what he was doing. This is what people will do for money especially now in our economic state. I hope those who are older make a good example to children not the one to use them for earn money.

yes the child was already crying and they should have stopped him right away.. people should be careful especially if televised. So many people are watching with vigilance now.

I think it is awful and could end up affecting a child whole outcome in life.

Child abuse does not have to be just physical scarring that we can see with the naked eye. There is is also emotional scarring that can be just as tramatic to suffer through. No child should be left to be abused or have to suffer with alone. It is tragic that so many families go through the issues of child abuse without ever getting the help they need.

I am aghast when i read the news about it. That was really degrading ! Imagine a child having to dance that way , in front of many people and being watched on national television? Being coaxed to dance that way more, for the sake of everybody watching and laughing is child abuse in the the real sense of the word. I hope this will be dealt with accordingly at the soonest.

i know what you mean! and what is worse the parents are so freakin happy about it!!! i mean cmon, your child is being ridiculed on national tv!! tsk tsk.. the child was already crying..why the heck would they let him continue. such a shame... and sad fact is, there are still so many willie supporters agreeing that what was done was okey and that there was no abuse.

The nerve of them to do that even if the boy is already crying! Willie, being the host should have put a stop to it the moment he saw the boy cry. He knows for a facr that he is doing it to have money, so he just have given him once he already danced.

Can't say more. I guess the management of TV5 should make their move about children and stuff like this. Even if the show's production is separate from the network management, they can do something as Willie is just using the network's facilities.

oh i am sorry for that. That show is like a game show, but before the start of the games these contestants are like asked to showcase their talents and at that time the contestants are these little kids and that certain kid, jan-jan is asked to show his talent and his talent is that..dirty dancing and that guy, the host was so happy with it and even asked him to dance again even though the child was already crying..i find it annoying and abusive.. it might be against the child's will to dance.

Whereas i think this topic is not that much into child abuse. May be its related to some sort of plans for channel raising as i read about the show and the man too. Well every reality shows or other now days are fully fake and false they are not something to be believe on. Child abuse is another topic, where a child is forced to do things which satisfies the victim in any way.

There are many forms of child abuse archie, emotionally aside from physically since parents has the main responsibility to look after their childrne and in this case the parents failed to see where their child is going. maybe they have just been blinded since they are so happy their child can dance.. even tho it is that sort of dancing, which in my case i do not approve. different parents have different opinions though..in my point i just disagree on this one. with network wars, i just do not care about them since i am not fond of any network

THere is no doubt that the CHILD is not a fault here The parents should be blame here in the first place. second, the network, they should have seen the talent before the show starts so that the management can make up whether such talent is applicable for the people to watch. This isn't the fault of the child and they should at least counsel the parents or arrest them for this kind of teaching to the child, he's clearly innocent in this.

yes the child is indeed innocent, you can teach whatever you want to teach the child and it is up to the parents to filter it! i am just so confused on why they taught that child such dance and they even reasoned out that they taught the child such dance because the child loves it and so they did not hinder him further! which i find more outrageous! you already do not think it is right but since your child wants, you tolerate it its like..what kind of parents are they? they should know when to stop him and when to let him be...tsk tsk. maybe for them dancing that way is ok..in my case it is not. they could have taught him ballet

Let's not all put the blame to willie, I've seen the video too on youtube and it's not only willie whose having a hard time but the entire audience too, including the mother. If there's someone jailed for child abuse, it's not willie, it should be that boys parents. Like you, I can't think of any good reason why his parents taught him that dirty dance, and he danced it like a pro, maybe he learned that from a pro too.

willie is really an annoying person. Well, while many Pinoys are so game to have fun, willie also abuses it without responsibility.

Parents of this child should be the first to be blamed. They should not use their children to earn money for them, its child labor and definitely a child abuse. As with Willie and the TV5, they should not allowed very young and innocent contestants. They should study more about the law.
