Do You Understand God?

I have been wrestling with the concept of god for years and have, as yet to reach a satisfactory conclusion. I have explored myth and philosophy, sacred texts and the pronouncements of later day prophets and as yet can find no consensus of agreement. If you understand god can you give me some help here?

This is a profound discussion... And it's also a very intelligent approach..however, to better answer your question would take much time than allowed here, but I can share my knowledge and my thoughts with you, and you can digest it and formulate your own, if I'm even helpful. Oftentimes we can struggle in finding truth...not the truth of others, but our own personal truth. Many will try to convince you of their truth, but I won't do that, I will share my truth...if it leads you to another, great, if not, then that's OK too, then we had a good conversation. It's an offer, no hard feelings if you decline. I hope you find the answers you're looking for.

God is, what is. Omniscient: what would it be to know everything and know everything about it? Even a simple solid ball is known to us only in a series of adumbrational presentations. Omnipotent: having both limited and unlimited potentialities necessarily means that that which is one will appear as more than one, since the unlimited potentialities will be beyond our limited understanding and the limited potentialities will be potentially graspable. Omnibenevolent: To love beyond reason carries water tenderly in a sieve. Understanding of God cannot be approached with human limited intellect but only by a leap of faith, then grace may grant us some understanding all the best urban

Hi, The concept of God is a believe. By argument you can't establish the existence of God. The whole universe is a great mystery. In this universe I'm so little creature that it is not possible for me to understand God.

I am not trying to establish the existence of a god or gods, I am trying to understand why and how the concept of a god formed and evolved in the human species.

This might sound funny but the first thing you need to do is throw away all the holy books then forget everything you have ever been taught about God. Next, you must realize that in this time based causal universe, even God's actions can not be hidden. You can understand much more about someone through their actions than you ever could reading about them. Look at the world around you. Look beyond the surface and explore why things are as they are. Remember, everything about God will add up. The more you discover; the more doors you will open. The picture looks so much different when you start to understand. So stop depending on others for your answers. Explore!!! All the secrets of the universe stare us in the face??? Can you see??? How long did mankind watch birds fly before they figured out how?? There is much to learn. Start on your path to discovery today. It's up to each of us our choices.

I in part agree with you but can not accept the idea that the first step to understanding is to throw out the books and the accumulated knowledge that they represent. Rather than discard them it is better to try to understand why and how they were written, the political point of view most represent and the life and times of the authors.

I do not think the intellectual capability of human beings can justify what God really is due the fact that we are only his creation and he is infinite. No person can count infinity. People search and search about who God really is and where he is right this particular minute, but people failed to see where he really duels. Right in our heart and faith, try looking there.

ok , if human being cannot understand god, why everyone follow him like if everyone knows already him. all believers are just that believers they trust in god no matter what others say, once they are into religion get so much involve and forget about reason, never ask why nor any explanation of whay everything has made the way it is, i ask myself, why god create volcanos? is there any porpuse? how about frozen places, tectonic plates, theres alot of things religious people cannot explai.

I am not trying to justify a god, I am trying to understand the nature of the god concept.

investor211:" they trust God no matter what others say" Most likely without even meaning to, by making that statement you have defined what true "faith" is. Believing and trusting in something or someone even when others may disagree or ridicule you for it.

Hello chaing_Mai_boy, In a normal life span,we are not able to understand ourselves and the ones around us,how will you ever be able to understand God? Dont you think to understand God,we have to get in touch with him. Dive down deep within, and try to clear the dust of ignorance, you might get you answer. For those who believe no explanation is necessary.

And for those who don't, no explanation will suffice, very sad!

For some strange reason i do as well and maybe it's because i find that in many of the atheists responses there seems to be quite a bit of anger and resentment for those who don't see things their way.I would think if one was happy and content in their beliefs they would have no reason to defend their point of view in the ways they do.

How can one understand someone they refuse to acknowledge? Do you accept that God exists?

God is not so hard to understand. It is just that so many people have so many different theories they become confused. The best way to understand God is to study His Word. Not the Bible, as you see it in your local stores and churches but Gods Word as it was written, before all of the translations and changes were made. Pastor Arnold Murray, with the Shepherds Chapel Miinistry can explain the Bible to you in simple terms. And teach you how to read the Bible and understand for your self, the letter God wrote to you. Simply, God is your Creator. He created you only for His enjoyment. He placed you in a flesh body because of the catabolt. God is your Father. who loves you dearly. Please join us at the Shepherds Chapel so you can learn why you are here. And find out in uncertain terms the meaning of life.

Hi Chiang, It is easy to understand God: go to the shore, dig a hole as big a you can and put the entire ocean in it. If you succeed, you should have have understood God and its nature. The whole point is, one cannot really grasp what is immaterial and infinite by material and finite means. It just like trying to fit a whole ocean of truth on a single hole in the seashore. For one, our limited senses can't even perceive everything how much more with our limited understanding and consciousness? Go, figure it out.

uhmm, maybe if you are a father and wanted the best for your children you will do anything for them to be the best and do anything to develope their talents and skills, well i think that is how God work for us, being our father He provided us this beautiful world to live in to have flesh and bones and to develope our talents and skills and to become the best, though sometimes we are tried and chastise by our works but He wants us to learn and to have faith in Him and someday we will inherit the things which He promises us.

C_M_b, You seek an explanation of the idea of god.....I take it you mean the claim by people that god exist? Ever since the start of time one seeks answers to what one witnessed and answers are bound to run out for questions that even the wise man is overawed. I always believe that a supreme being/entity is created to sooth the answer seeking people. Everything that's good is a blessing and anything bad is a punishment. I guess everyone is satisfied until slowly people found logical answers to questions along the way and starts to question further. The idea of god will always be around as long as there are unanswered questions.

I don't know how I will describe GOD to you, just for me; GOD is the sea where all the fish swim... Without him, there is no called life.

Don't try to find him it will just come like the thief in the night try to relax, and as the Bible says,"lean not on your own understanding" the farther the closer He will be. And when the moment you realize he's just there....asking you through faith!Telling you, have a little faith first before knowing me.
