How many more times, do I have to keep on complaining until things changes?

I called the Post Office today. This has got to be about the fourth complaint that I had to make about the post carrier. Today I went to check my mailbox and I had a bunch of sales letters in my mailbox. Well to my surprise all of the mail was wet. But not so surprisingly, the mailbox was left wide opened. Now, I have complained about this about two weeks ago. It has gotten better since that time, but today it is happening again. Today it rained, and it was around the time that the postal carrier delivered the mail. The mail was so wet until I had to throw it all away in the trash bin. I could not read it at all. The pages were too thin from the wetness of the rain. So I am thinking that, the post carrier delivered my mail while it was raining, and he/she did not even close the mailbox back. So, I talked to a lady that worked at the Post Office and she took down my information of where I lived. She also told me to call, 1-800-USPS, to file a complaint. I plan to do so, and what makes it so bad, is that my mailbox was the only mailbox that was left wide opened. Isn't that strange? I know that other tenants get mail as well. And some of them did not check their mailbox yet due to them not being at home. So why is my mailbox the only box that has been left wide opened?

hello cream, I will do the same thing if this happen to me. Mails are important, and should be given proper care. We can not blame it to the rain, but to someone who drop the letters and leave the mailbox open. I doubt if someone in the neighborhood intentionally open the box and leave if open. In that case, why leave the mailbox open, why not took the letters if he/she needs or is trying to annoy. Hope you can have your mails delivered again (by request from companies or people who sent those mails that you haven't read) have a good day

I am not familiar with the mailbox you are talking about. But maybe you should contact that number that post office told you to call and file a real complaint. Is it possible to change your mailbox number? Or better yet, have a serious talk with the building administration about your mailbox.

It almost sounds like the mail carrier is punishing you for having complained before.

Maybe the mailman is a guy you refused to go out with 10 years ago.

I suggest that you file a written complain, as it will be recorded properly thus they will act accordingly. Sometimes with phoning them several ties, they would shrug it and think that we are too pushy on little things as closing a mailbox cover.

Oh gosh what a headache for you. I would pursue the complaint and ask for a manager or supervisor and explain in detail what is going on. Tell them that important mail arrives and it gets wet due to their neglect. Take down the persons name and if it happens again call back and ask for the same person again. Tell then you are tired of being treated unfairly. Gee cream what does it take to close the box back up. Make sure you explain that you feel this is being done intentionally. I do hope you can get this resolved.

I have had that happen on occasion but not often. I would check and make sure that your mailbox actually stays shut... I had to work on mine a bit to make it stick better... the postman would close it and it would pop back open. I have had something of a different sort happen where my postwoman would drive on my lawn... at one point breaking my sprinkler system. I put up a guard around the sprinkler and then I got something in my box saying I could not do that. They do work for us right? Not the other way around..... Thanks Zelo

When something can effect something that is really important in a person's life, such as a job, I try to give the benefit of the doubt and to be understanding. You said that since the last time you complained it has gotten better. This was just one slip up. Perhaps it was shut slightly, but not completely and maybe the wind blew it open. Sure you have the right to complain, but I don't think the mail person did it intentionally.

Something definitely sounds fishy there. It almost seems like the mail man is out to get you, and only you. It could be someone else altogether as well. Either way I hope they get down to it and figure out what is going on and that it stops. It could have been bills in your mailbox instead of just sales flyers.

We had alot of things happening with our mail. The key doesn't work very well and it is hard for me to open the door. The mailman is different and isn't as nice as the old guy was. I think he is in alot more of a hurry because he has a bigger route now. Alot of our annex offices are closing. I hope you get yours figured out.

You know what, your mailbox is not the only mailbox left wide open. I found it happen to my house also, most of the time. Luckily, I return home early everyday, and I found my mailbox open while the mail still there. Luckily my neighbors are not thieves. I got the mail I need. I didn't file a complaint though, but I might do so online later.
