What were you the most afraid of when you were young?

Before i began my school life,i usually went out with my elder brother playing with our playmates. At a time when we passed by a neighbour's doorway,we saw some big geese inside.we tried to come over to have a look, but the geese all reached out their long necks for us,immediately my brother and i was so frightened that we had to run away! But whenever i was playing somewhere,as long as i heard thundering,i would run home at once while sobbing or crying!i was so coward, and the most frightening thing was thundering! What about you?

Being left alone to sleep in the dark. I can't sleep alone at night without somebody beside me in bed and that somebody has to wrap their arm around me. I just feel safe when somebody hugs me while I sleep. I just feel safe from ghosts that I fear in my childhood.

Childhood fears are pretty interesting and sometimes funny. When I was a kid, I was always afraid when the wind blows in the cemetery and it blows away the leaves from the trees. I was so scared that I would run to our car. The funny thing is, there was one time when someone who's really pale was jogging in the cemetery grounds that he looked like a zombie. I thought it was real. Aside from this, my family was scaring me with my mom's doll when she was little. The doll was around 3-feet high and it was pretty scary. I would go and peek at the doll inside the closet and like tell it to be kind to me, lol Also, I feared looking at mirrors at night because there was a horror film that showed ghosts and ghouls on the mirrors. There's a mirror by the stairway that faces the first flight of the stairs and I would either look down or close my eyes until I get past the mirror.

I had seen a house burn one time and grew up afraid our house would burn and we wouldn't all get out. I even slept with my door open and my bed facing the hallway with the other bedrooms so if anything happened I could make sure we all got out okay. We never even had a tiny fire but I was terrified of fire. I could watch a movie with a campfire and have bad dreams at night even...

Thing i'm most afriad was should be adults. As i'm quite short bck then, the sight of adults, standing big and tall in front of me, especially when i can't see their face, makes it more scary to me. It's as if i've entered a dark room, whereby i hear voices, but i can't see anything. It's worse when the voice is deep and loud. Dark room is another phobia of mine but not now anymore.

I never thought that one day I will be afraid of thunder,or I was not thinking that I am afraid of it until some years back. When I was young, age of 10,11, when the thunder is about to start far I used to go to bed and sleep until is gone then the rainbow came with beautiful colors, for so long that happened. Now at this age I am afraid of thunder, reason being, lightning just entered my house by window and myself and my daughters were so afraid, as a result of that shock my little grand daughter slept until she woke when it was gone, when she woke up, she said did we see that sharp lit because she is still young she did not know that it was a lightning out of thunder, so I am afraid of thunder even before that, so to say, it is not about age to be afraid of something, it happened, sometimes you do not know how.

When I was younger I was terrified of this reoccuring nightmare I had. Something where there was this clock on the wall that when the electric would go out and everything was pitch black it would open up to reveal a face that would stare at you and paraylize you with fear that you couldn't move at all. As a result of this I was scared everytime the lights went out and also became frightened by clocks hanging on the wall. It's odd that 20 some years later I still remember this dream but am no longer afraid of it.

When i was a child i was afraid of big dogs. My one brother and i used to deliver the sunday paper in our neighborhood. there was one house that had a big dog with a beware of dog sign posted on their fence. My brother would make me deliver to this house. You never saw anyone move faster than me. The dog was probaably friendly but he certainly looked fearsome.

When i was young i am afraid of being alone like my parents were living me for work, or to be lost in a place or streets that are unfamiliar to me, because one time i was lost i was about 8 or 9 years old and i was so afraid not to find my way to home, but glad to find our home after hours of walking in unfamiliar sideways, i was blessed.

When I was little I was watching Scooby Doo. An episode was the "The good the bad and the ugly". On the episode was a monster. I had the same exactly nightmare for a long period, that the monster came in my house and talk with me and somehow wanted me to go with him. But always the monster figures out to be a neighbor of my grandma. i all the time at the end of the nightmare told him to come back. And he really did in the next exactly same nightmare. For some period I stop watching cartoons but after a while the nightmare did not come any more so I was happy. Hope after saying this the nightmare will not come any more after 16 years.

Thunder was a huge fear of mine too! Up until I was like 16 years old, I used to go sleep in my parents room. When I was too old to sleep in their bed, lol, I would go sleep in their closet. It's funny now that I moved out of their house, it doesn't bother me as much. I just use it as an excuse to snuggle with my boyfriend ;)

Thats kind of a cute story even if it scared you then. The only thing that really scared me when I was young was the dark and even now I am still pretty scared of it. I cannot go out in my back yard when it is dark. I have trouble even going onto my porch where the street light shines lol.

So if you have to go out at night,do you always want your bf or hubby to accompany? I never fear the dark. When I was young,I had to walk along the path in the dark to the road to go to the movies.

I feared the usual things for a country kid, snakes, the neighbor's bull, and having to cross a rickety bridge to get to school when the creek was at flood stage. I had nightmares about that bridge.

I had to cross that bridge, as there was no other way to get to school. I don't remember being afraid except when the creek was up. I was greatly relieved when my father rented another farm on the other side of the creek the next year. I still had nightmares about that bridge, though. Sometimes that bull would be chasing me, and there would be planks missing from the bridge floor. In my dream, I could see the roaring water already touching the bridge beams.

When I was in elementary school I usually walked home from school. One day the biggest dog I had ever seen started to come up to me. I had never seen anything like it and I move away quickly. It came after me barking. I began to run. I kept running until I was on my street. I could hear it behind me. I got closer and closer to home. As I reached my yard I looked around and the dog was still there. I ran in and got my grandmother. SHe took care of the dog. I don't remember being more scared when I was young.

Hello Oldsix, I was affraid of the end of the world. My parents always worked in an office, 7 am to 7 pm. So my brother and I had a very serious nanny, that only talked very few words. When we were out of school we were always alone, we had to walk 3 kms each day to return home. I remember all the stories I heard of my classmates about the end of the world. And what it feared me was that the world was going to end in two hours, as stated by a class mates, and my parents wont be on time back home to be with us when world were over. =( Blessings =) ... I am also afraid of lightning, but i love to play in the rain when i was a kid. I love dogs ,but i am afraid with other dogs (neighbors dog) I have this fear when one dog bark at me when i am calling my friend at the neighborhood. I just ignore the dog because like i said...i like dogs...then suddenly, the dog comes near and i felt the fear so i run as fast as i could. Since then,i am afraid when i sees dogs that i am not familiar with (not owned by a friend) Have a great weekend
