None of us is perfect and there are some habits that we have adopted or got used to that doesnt seem right and that we would like to change if possible. I suppose most of us feel this way. In my case the one thing I would love to change ( besides quite a few other habits) is my sleeping habit. Sleep early and wake up early, I just am not able to do it....I sleep after mid night and wake up at 7 or 7.15 and each day I tell myself that I have to sleep early today, but it is the same....I wish I could make up my mind and get over this habit . How about you all? please do share..

Hi sreedhar, thanks a lot for sharing your views I dint get what were saying about mother in law and daughter in law.My son is still young to be married , so I will have to wait some more years to get a daughter in law...I am sorry to hear about your wife and mother, but it is common isnt it ? in every home and family- as people mature they are able to handle such matters in a more mature way - have a nice weekend

Well, sreedhar, there is no such thing as a typical mother in law, it is all in the mind and mostly what we have been made to believe through fiction and films. As long as we treat all human beings especially the ones close to us with respect things will be OK...

Habit is always a chance in our lives that is responsible for the fact that we ceased to progress. A trauma, a very bitter defeat, a disappointment in love, even a victory that you do not understand how we are ultimately to become cowards, to say the least. Wizard in the growth of occult powers, needs to first free themselves from this "adaptation point", but it has to review the life and discover where he ... Talking with a friend today and I realized that it is very hard to detach the things we already know, a job, a relationship, but we must find a balance between change much and remain too much in one place.

Hi didi, habit is of course what binds us to many things in our life. But with determination it is possible to overcome that .It is a matter of making up your mind and being determined about it...thanks a lot for sharing your views and all the best

I would defiantly like to balance things more in my life. I feel that I have to sacrifice one thing or another when trying to get things done. Often times when I am cleaning a lot I feel like I am sacrificing to much time to cleaning and not enough time playing and interacting with my children. Then other days when I let the house go and I don't clean as much and play with the kids, I feel bad for letting my house be dirty. So I really need to find a happy medium between the two so that I can still get things done without feeling bad about not spending every waking hour playing with my kids.

Hi tlb, thanks a lot for your response ,I seem to have completely overlooked this discussion, sorry for the delayed response....I guess we all feel that way.It happens with me when I get lost when I am reading a book or spend hours together in my garden.I feel sooo guilty at having neglected other jobs....as long as it is nothing earth shaking its ok...as for spending time with kids, make the most of it without feeling guilty , other things can wait because they grow up so fast and before you know they will be on their own...

I wouldn't mind having some of my faults and flaws and bad habits turned to a more positive way of thinking. Other than that we just have to accept what we have in life and what we choose to do with it.

Hi sender, thanks a lot for your response I wish that would happen - all our negatives turn into positives ...No doubt that it is good to accept and move on..

Paper clutter - Stitch in time saves nine. Filing papers at the right time can make life easy.
I have this habit of collecting papers that should actually be either destroyed or kept in proper folders. Whereas I am good in systems I need someone to implement them. Being used to that while I was working I just cannot settle down to doing it myself, however, much I try.

Hi allknowing, thanks a lot for your responseI too have a lot of difficulty in putting away bills and receipts in their proper folders, instead I do it all together after it gets accumulated - it is so much easier to be organised..

I have many habits that I want to change too. One of them would be the one you've stated. I try to sleep early in order to wake up early but I always sleep way past bed time and struggle waking up the next morning. But hey 7am isn't so bad. You should see me, on weekends i wake up at somewhere around 11am-2pm. It's crazy I know. th other thing I really hate about myself is my habit of putting things off. I always tell myself I'll do it tomorrow, when I can do it today because I don't feel like doing it. It's bad I know. I would love to get rid of this habit but I don't know how.

Hi thatgirl, I too have the same habit of putting off things which I know is bad.I too have been trying to get rid of this. I am a little better now...I agree waking up early is very difficult and one had s to cultivate this habit from childhood itself...all the best and enjoy your evening

Hi Kiran! NEW AVATAAR? I am normally very forgetful and careless and keep things out of place.I search for many things often.I have become slightly more systematic because this habit of mine lands me in trouble many a time and I keep things where they ought to be.Sadly, I forget that I have turned over a new leaf and continue searching. This diffidence arises because that habit is deeply ingrained in me. Moreover, I just get carried away by some chitchat, fun, some jolly mood and would deviate from work and this also lands me in trouble at times. Now I do nto wish to get rid of the lighter side in me because this keeps me going but I would like to manage my time better. As you have written I am also a night owl and I would like to sleep early and get up early. This will help me in my time management too.I feel I need to change the way I manage my time.

Hi kala, yes another avataar lol...Kala, it is happening with me as well.I am forever looking for my mobile ,spectacles, kitchen scissors - all very essential items..The worst was when I burnt the bottom of a pan in which I had kept water for boiling.I was in front of the comp and the water had boiled away...I was shocked after that because anything could have happened...I agree kala, why change something which makes you happy ? It is only when you feel that you have to change certain things that you should attempt to do so, right? all settled in kala? and how is the little bundle of joy? enjoy your weekend

Hi kiran, 'early to bed and early to rise.......' this old saying is not applicable to you. You go to sleep late and rise early. But you are intelligent. Life always doesn't run in a calculative way. In my case I'm a lazy person. Any work I can't finish in right time. I finish it lately in a hasty way. It is definitely a bad habit. But I can't change it. We all are slave of habits.

Hi bhanu,I dont rise early only at 7 or later than that.In most households around here people are up by 5.30 or 6 am and would have finished quite a lot of jobs by the time I rise...Guess what ? the habit you mention is there with me as well . I accumulate jobs till the last minute and then try to finish it in a hurry when there is no other go.I have become a little better now after a few bad experiences but one can never be rid of it completely - enjoy your weekend bhanu

Hi kiran I was bit confused because you have changed your avtar. Nothing is impossible on this earth, if you are determined to do, so you can go to bed say around 10pm and get up at 6am, it is better you work a lot in your garden till tired, next enjpy a sleep. You know about king Solmon, who said, 'early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise';but he had several wives, ha ha, must be having his bedroom where he slept alone.. Thanks for sharing Cheers. God bless you, have a nice day ahead. Professor ‘Bhuwan’. .

I agree himanshu that once we are sure that certain habits need to be either changed or at least modified, we need to make an effort to do so...But sometimes old habits die hard, it is not that easy - all the best himanshu and enjoy your weekned

Hi Kiran, Would it make you comfortable if I disclosed that I too indulge in going to bed late and waking up late (as late as my responsibilities permit) and I do not think of it as a BAD HABIT. Anything which makes me more productive and enjoy my life is definitely not bad. Your feeling is just the result of the mass brainwashing perpetrated on us at school. But-you have to stay within the rules of the society-of course. If I enjoy life more by abusing children, then that is definitely bad and I am pervert. But getting up late does not disturb anyone or falls outside the boundaries of a civilized society. So-what;s the big deal and I never did like worms either. The early birds can have them with my blessings.

Hi serubhai, LOL not really ! Most internet users stay up late and wake up late...It is not bad Bad, but it does make a difference to our day .I notice that when I make the effort to sleep early and wake up early I do feel good...I dont really bother about other things like going by the rules of the society etc where my personal habits are concerned. My son , when he comes for a holiday sleeps at 4 am and wakes up at 2 pm in time for lunch lol...I try to wake him up in the morning, because I am more concerned about feeding him a good breakfast after which he can go back to sleep until lunch time ...LOl your comment about early birds and worms has me in splits - all the best and enjoy your weekend

Some habits are good and some are just nasty. I have the habit of being in front of the computer for hours and is taking a toll on me, my eyesight is not as good as it used to be. I spent more than 14 hours in front of the computer with no breaks, of course my eye doctor was pissed off and now I have to limit my hours working online. Now if you asked me I wish I didn't have to spend lots of hours in front of the computer but my job requires it and I love it...but for my own good, I have to stay away from the computer, and stop abusing my eyes.

Hi Adalie, that is one more habit that I too would like to do something about. I too lose track of time when I am in front of the computer, this inspite of knowing all the ill effects ..I can understand how it is with you when you have to spend time in front of the comp out of job necessity, the worst part is the lack of exercise - all the best and have a nice weekend
